From 1921 to 1934, he worked on the property and most of the property was placed on Indiana's Classified Forest Program between 1927-1931. After Frank's death, his wife donated the property to the State. This 355 acre property is located just a short distance from US 50 to the northeast side of North Vernon. The park is only accessible form CR 350 N and has the Forest Office/Property Manager's station on the east end of the park. However, if you don't wish to stop by and pick up a brochure, you can take the self-guided trail which starts (and has its own small parking lot) on the west end of the park. That's what I decided to take. The self-guided trail is fairly easy to navigate with wide gravel based roads making up most of the trail. Elevation changes are easy with the exception of one area where steps have been built into the hillside. The trail is roughly 1 mile in length and there are benches for resting or stopping to enjoy the sights and sounds of the park. There are small creeks/runoffs along the way with one spot where a small pond tends to grow after rain fall as it waits to filter through a pipe under the trail to lower ground. For those who like longer hikes, there are additional trails in the park, but none of them are very long. Be advised that hunting is allowed in the park during the season, but hunters should check in at the Forest Office to make sure of any additional restrictions. The brochures list the major items of concern for hunting as well as having maps of the trails. Nothing spectacular to catch your attention as far as terrain, but the forest looks to be in great health and the wide paths make the park more accessible (though not completely) than most. It was my first time at Morgan's in Brookville and it was spectacular. We did the 5 mile trip and it only took is 3 hours to complete. The people there are very good explaining everything and their equipment is superb! Make sure you do the upgrade for the "plastic" canoes, worth it after seeing people struggle with their aluminum ones the rivers. Their set-up is awesome, at the end they are waiting for you with a bus to bring you back to the start. There facility is super nice.... the restrooms could use some TLC, but not a big deal.

Met Morgan himself, such a nice fella, explained to us the diff kinds of canoes and pricing. We didn't put our valuable stuff like phones, wallet and food in a waterproof pouch or ziplog bag since we didn't think we'd flip (how hard is it to canoe, right?) But we did...our phones were donezo, sandals and sandwiches floated away, at the end of the day, we were barefeet and hangry. IN allows beer on the river so bring some and enjoy a nice refreshing adult beverage out on the water! Will definitely be back for some more canoeing or kayaking in the future!

The playground at Liberty Park reminds me of the playground equipment that I grew up with in the…read more1980s / early 1990s. Just, like, groups of metal bars that require you to use your imagination, because otherwise they're just bleak and cold and hard objects standing in the middle of a field. This park has metal monkey bars and metal slides, a metal geometric dome and a metal merry-go-round -- all of the metal things. I imagine that this playground might be a little hot to the touch in the summer, but when we visited in late winter, it was perfectly pleasant. But only 3/4 of the playground is old-school playground equipment. The other 1/4 is updated plastic. However, for some reason, my children spent very little time in the updated playground area, and opted for the metal area. Very interesting. This park has lots going for it. It has an enormous sheltered picnic area that seems like it would be good for group events. It has a colorful basketball court with four hoops. There's also a baseball field, disc golf / frisbee golf (frolf) course, a gaga ball court, a walking path, a man-made lake, and a little fairy house by the playground parking lot. Liberty feels like a big park but is also a quaint part of the community. We had a good time visiting.

I noticed they even had swings for kids with disabilities! Definitely worth a stop if you have kiddos. There's a baseball field and soccer field in the park, as well as some frisbee golf areas. They do have picnic shelters, two that I saw and both were large. There's also a nice gazebo! There are paths where you could walk in loops, which is what I did with my friend, and there are benches sporadically as well for those who like a place to sit and watch the world go by. The bathrooms over by the baseball field were fairly clean for a park bathroom, too. Still had some spider webs, but it's a park bathroom so... ;) Overall, this park was great and an unexpected surprise!

It's nice as it is only about 65 minutes from Cincinnati $20 day pass is a fair price for a day to explore the 750 acre off road vehicle park. Great trails some are easy and others are very Challenging. Just depends what path you want to go. The only negative from my point of view are the deep ruts from the full size Jeeps, Trucks etc. I wish it was only limited to bikes, quads, and side by sides etc.

But that's not really a big deal. There was a girl that set us all up with signing the waiver and taking our money and all that stuff, she was very nice and an older gentleman that was just hanging around which I'm sure worked there as well and was friendly just as much. The price was $25 each and they gave us a card so if you come back within the year you bring that card with you to get $5 off admission. Giving this place is for muddin' I thought the restrooms looked very nice, can't expect them to be squeaky clean when there's mud everywhere outside. We took Jeep's and RZR's out for a good muddin' time! Enjoyed it very much. Was nice that our group was pretty much the only ones out there, that was probably due to it was freezing outside and it was SuperBowl Sunday, but being there early in the day I figured there'd been more people, but I'm not complaining. I'm sure we'll be back, probably when it warms up a bit, haha! If you like muddin' or never have done it I'd highly recommend it, as this was my and my wife's first time we throughly enjoyed it!
