They have a good bagel but is not worth it because I found there was plastic in my bagel, extremely unsanitary I've never experienced any incident remotely like this, nor ever felt the need to leave a bad review on any establishment. In a world where you can get coffee anywhere, bagels here-n-there, and artisan menus far-and-few, Bruegger's hits all 3 of those notes while delivery quality. On a wild 4-hour trip to Des Moines to try Zombie Burger, I made it a point to stop for an appetizer at a bagel/coffee place. My destination pointer landed on Bruegger's and what a delicious stop it was after being cramped in a car for 4 hours. We rolled up on an empty belly which demanded coffee and bagels. We stroll in after taking some goofy photos outside and look over the menu. I knew I was going to get a black coffee, a bagel, and something else to tide me over. I can't remember the flavor of bagel I got, but the combination of chips, coffee, and bagel hit the sweet spot. The bagel left a little bit to be desired but my taste buds weren't picky after such a long drive... and needing to save space for our next adventure. If you have been to Panera, Einstein Bros Bagels, or The Great American Bagel, this place will be of common familiarity. A decently-sized artisan cafe that offers a fancy menu with basics, such as; coffee, bagels, cookies, donuts, breads, other various baked goods. You can swing by and get a simple coffee or stop in for lunch and try something upscale and unique. During my visit, I only had some basic things but there were some interesting and delicious sounding items on their menu. I would like to try them out some day, if I am ever in the area of a Bruegger's again. Here at 7am no other customers in the store. Ordered a toasted sesame seed bagel with cream cheese, and coffee. The bagel was only slightly warm like they put it in the toaster for 10 seconds. The seeds were still pliable and moist and the bagel was chewy. Not toasted. Coffee tasted burned and old. Never coming back here. Decent bagels, but slow service. This is the second time I've recently stopped at this Bruegger's Bagels and have waited over 15-30 minutes for two bagel sandwiches. Recently, we ordered within a minute or two of walking in, but the rest of the process took a very long time. The workflow is inefficient with one person taking an order for one group then proceeding to make everything for that one person's order. The staff was friendly and helpful though! The bagel sandwiches were good, but one of the orders was incorrect having one egg instead of two which was disappointing. The sandwiches are tasty, but I really hope to see this business improve the workflow! No indoor seating at this time inside the business. Because I "may be affiliated" my review was removed. I've been here once and had the problem below. Reposting so others are aware of the hostile environment. I'm a DoorDasher in the area and had never gone to this location before. Upon walking in there they were busy, which I understand because it's breakfast. But after waiting at the counter for 5 minutes to pick up two orders I am ignored and put last priority even though no one greeted me nor asked what they could help me with. Finally I say I am just there to pick up two orders (mind you they had been ready) and if they could hand them to me. An older lady rolled her eyes at me and rudely said she needed to look at my phone. Fine, that sometimes is asked. She sighs and THROWS both bags of food down onto the counter and just walks away I was just trying to do my job and I'm sorry that was such a big inconvenience for her morning. read more

Staff here is always super nice and helpful. I got to say the bagel sandwich, I had today was not mind blowing by any account. I was pretty underwhelmed actually! But then again I was hankering for a hang over cure and maybe this was not the best option in the end, but I wanted food and I wanted it fast, and I wanted to tell myself it was going to be healthy too! Went to Brueggers because my regular coffee shop , Caribou Coffee, was closed due to an accident that broke a power pole. Brueggers is one of the Caribou brands and serves Caribou coffee. They may serve Caribou Coffee but it was not recognizable. It was bitter, mud like and overly hot. The thin paper cup it was served in was hard to hold because the coffee was scorching. Ordered online through the app. I hate to write such as terrible review because I absolutely loved Brueggers however placed my order: one Farmhouse, one western, one salmon, and one cinnamon sugar Bagel with plain cream cheese......the ticket on the bag was the correct order.....but inside the bag was a JOKE. We had one brisket Bagel, one breakfast sandwich with an egg,bacon and cheese, one everything Bagel with chive cream cheese and the salmon bag. Again! Hate to write this review but maybe I'll have to travel further to the Ingersoll location rather than the 86th location. Hopefully that location with have their crap together. My first time going to a Bruegger's Bagel in Des Moines! I had forgotten about how good their food is! I have actually not sampled their drinks before so I am unable to comment on those. We had the Smoked Salmon bagel sandwich and the Classic Grilled Cheese. The flavors on both these items were fantastic! The Smoked Salmon sandwich was complex and all the flavors meshed together to create something awesome. The classic grilled cheese is done right, very cheese and satisfying! The atmosphere is just like a coffee shop, relaxing and perfect for winding down. One thing I would like to comment on regarding a negative point is their parking lot. There is one tiny point in and then another tiny point out, both points; it makes it difficult at times to pull in and out. The parking lot is a U shape and is one way, if you drive past a spot and there's no spots available in front, you need to leave and return to the lot. The parking spaces are actually limited, we arrived and got the last spot when we visited here, now many customers come to get items to-go so they won't be parked for long. First timer! Who doesn't love bagels? CARBS! YES! Very comparable to Einsteins Bagels which the only one here is at the library of Grand View University. Since there was no one in the store at the time, we were confused where to order, but employees were kind enough to point us in the right direction. We ordered 2 bagels, the eggs Benedict and the smoked salmon with egg salad. Let me say that again: smoked salmon with EGG SALAD. I'm a huge fan of bagels with lox, so the addition of egg salad pretty much blew my mind. Oh, and there were cucumbers. And arugula. Yeah, my mouth is watering again. The only way I would say Einsteins has leg up is that they offer espresso based beverages, this place only has brewed coffee options. Overall the location is very clean, the food is delicious, and they have free wifi! Will definitely be suggesting this place for my next study group. read more

I love Bruegger's Bagels! It's probably my favorite to-go meal option. Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, I used to go to Bruegger's all the time. Unfortunately, at some point all the locations of Bruegger's closed in IL! I thought they were gone for good. When I moved to Iowa City and later Des Moines, I was so excited to see Bruegger's was still alive! My favorite part of Bruegger's is their light herb garlic cream cheese. I have tried all different kinds of cream cheeses even other garlic ones, but in my opinion, this one is the best! I used to always get the Leonardo de Veggie sandwich, but now I get the Herby Turkey. Naturally, both sandwiches have the light herb garlic cream cheese but the Leo is the veggie option (not vegan). They do have humus for all of you vegans out there. They also sell their own cream cheese pre-packaged in tubs. Sometimes, I buy a light herb garlic tub and a few extra bagels. Also, they have tons of bagel options! I really like the Asiago Parmesan. This location is on Ingersoll Ave is great. It's easy to get to, and the staff is very friendly and efficient. There is a large parking lot in the rear (south end of building) but it's a little steep. Also, when you exit the parking, be sure to go slowly as it's a blind turn with the building location. Yucko. I got smoked salmon bagel a while back. I was just getting over Covid, so couldn't smell or taste much, but I tasted this salmon, and ended up getting sick AF later that night and throwing up all night. I only took one bite and almost threw up at that time it was so gross. Tasted like a fish fart. Slimy stinky spoiled. Guess that's my fault for ordering fish at a bagel joint, but still. Great service attention to detail nice considerate staff. I always get a breakfast everything bagel with bacon and they're always wanting to make it extra crispy they're also always wanting to run Bagels through the toaster a couple times if I want it that way. Is it Great Value if you have a group of people you want to bring something different for breakfast. I have always found the staff to be good and considerate. Sometimes customers are really unappreciative of the hard work it is to work in a place that has lots of customers and people they want their food now... I really have so few complaints. The 1-star deduction is a mashup of small things. No issue parking though I could see how the lot may become full quickly. There was a decent line when we entered but it dwindled fairly quickly. There are more things on the board behind the staff than are on the menu - I appreciate the additional options but wish I could have seen them before it was my turn to order. The staff were accommodating surely but it didn't feel very cheery or welcoming. We waited longer than expected to pay but prices were pleasantly small. The place was clean enough. We shared an asiago paramsean bagel (outstanding) with bacon scallion cream cheese (pretty good), a cheesy hashbrown bagel (take it or leave it) with jalapeno cream cheese (wonderful), and a sriracha honey sunrise breakfast bagel sandwich (will definitely purchase again). The bagels with cream-cheese, if anything, had too much cream-cheese which is definitely preferred in my opinion because I can just scrap off what I don't want. We also snagged a brownie and a chocolate cookie for dessert. Both were wonderful - my Husband loved the brownie but it was a little too fudge-y for me to eat more than one bite and we both thought the chocolate chip cookie was outstanding. One of the women with me ask about the calorie count on a featured sandwich because it wasn't listed on the sign like the rest and you would've thought she has asked the worker to chop her arm off. The lady making my bagel spent the whole time complaining about her coworkers to other coworkers. She also got upset when my girlfriend asked for her bagel to be toasted and got tense and made a face. She then yelled the order over to the register and got after her coworker because she didn't think she was listening to her. It actually blows my mind that people can be so unprofessional in their work environment. The service made my girlfriend and I so uncomfortable that I am mad I paid for food and didn't just walk out. I was kind of surprised how cheap burgers has become .I usually get the salmon bagel which is lox and bagels and I asked them to be generous with the cream cheese meaning on both size and apparently that would cost me 50 cents extra on a sandwich the cost $7.41 .Then as she put The Onion on it she put 3 tiny strands of onion instead of a slice of onion and I asked for more so I get 3 more tiny strands of onion .A sandwich like that Depends on the proper balance of ingredients .I just felt like they were being cheap and I left not feeling very good about burgers read more

Great bagels but inconsistent service and amount of food in the sides. I love Bruegger's, just wish I had more consistent expectations at this location. Really slow some days even if there is no one else waiting. Also frequently out of many flavors of bagels but mid morning. I am also vegan so get the sun dried tomato spread in a container on the side which they charge for, but if you aren't paying attention some people don't even fill it half full which doesn't cover a full bagel while other servers give you enough for 2 bagels (but always the same price). I've tried to make my own just to not have to deal with the unpredictability and make sure I have enough for a bagel or two but it's obviously not as good... overall I still love the bagels though and hope the minor things will improve! read more

I love Bruggers and the service has always been good. But I have been in there recently a couple different times and they have a newer girl i believe her name is Luv. She always smiles and is really sweet. I have heard her manager being so rude and mean to her. I can't believe that a manager would do things like that in front of customers! How unprofessional! The girl was almost in tears. I will be going to Panera from now on. Worst management I have ever seen. I'm not sure what the managers name is but I believe it starts with a c. Always busy, but always good. I've never gone here and not waited at least five or 10 minutes in line, but that could be because I only go on the weekends. At any rate, there are always a bunch of workers and it doesn't seem too slow, and the bagels are always worth the wait. Definitely one of the cleanest Brueggers in DSM as well, which is always good. read more
