In the modern day the word Gastropub gets thrown around a lot. Bruder is what I would consider a true Gastropub. The craft beers have a wide selection of types and flavors so I don't feel like I am being forced to choose between the same 5 major brands. I have not had a single dish there I haven't loved. The wings were cooked well and have enough familiar and interesting sauce options that I feel I am still getting a gastropub experience with ordering a simple "wing and beer". The empenadas are delightful, the pork belly was wonderful, and my fiance pushes for us to return specfically for their amazing pumpkin soup. The gluten-free empanadas were amazing!!! My son really enjoyed the pumpkin soup, salad, and drunken sausage. He and I both thought his food was amazing. The peppercorn burger was good if you like plain burgers. I usually like more stuff on my burger. This one was kind of plain, but was good because you could actually taste the burger and not all the other stuff that I normally put on my burger. The restaurant has a cool vibe and great service. We've checked out Bruder a few times now and the food quality has been way more than we expected! They have some really creative dishes and great flavors. We tried the plantain pizza and it was great! I never would have thought to put plantains on a pizza, but it totally worked. The eggplant ceviche was probably my favorite. It has almost a hummus-like consistency and was so good. We've also tried the hummus, empanadas, wings, and potatoes and enjoyed everything. The beer was great as well, and they did a really nice job with the atmosphere and decor. They're currently bringing in their own beers, but I'm looking forward to when the brewery is fully up and running and all of the beers on tap are brewed there. This is an extremely confusing place to go to. With the name we were expecting a German experience, but it is a Colombian restaurant with what feels like someone's uncle's garage beer. They only had beer in bottles at this time but said that kegs are coming for some draft beers. There seem to be some confusion as to when that would happen and how many of those taps would be functioning. Nelly was our server and did a very nice job. She was attentive and offered a lot of answers to our questions. Despite hearing that the beer was award-winning, none of us actually really cared for any of the beer. It was nondescript and fairly bland. We tried 7 beers between all of us. The food was pretty good and the service was great. That didn't change the fact that we were very confused by the approach of this place. Nothing really makes any sense and the decorations and ambience don't match anything else or each other. It's like you asked AI to create you a restaurant and gave it about 15 styles (sports bar! lounge! teen girl's bedroom! cheap chain restaurant! antique bar! Etc etc etc) while saying "combine all these!". Sadly, except for the steins on the tables holding silverware... the German part we came looking for was blatantly missing. read more

I was very excited to try this new spot, and was happy to see a non-chain spot! We came during their soft open phase and were able to try bottled drinks and food. The decor is definitely more upscale than at Oviedo Brewing, and they've clearly made the space their own. Our server was friendly, and checked on us often. Bruder is in soft opening so they do have kinks to work out. We went to lunch and ordered some items to share: Kale & Quinoa Croquettes, Potatoes with Vegetables and Pesto, and a pizza with sweet Plantains, Bacon and Parmesan. The "croquettes" (more like a kale &quinoa patty) are served with a bleu cheese cream which we swapped out for a cilantro aioli. The croquettes were very earthy tasting, but honestly did not have much flavor other than that, and they rely too heavily on the dipping sauce. Also I cannot imagine the bleu cheese being a good combo here, but maybe! The vegetables were also very bland. We did have to request salt for the table, and all of our food needed to be salted. Unfortunately we did not finish the potatoes, they just were not good enough. If there was pesto in them I unfortunately could not taste it. The pizza was good (needed salt!) and once we requested hot sauce (they brought a small serving a Cholula, I would have preferred a bottle of tobasco) it was better. There were about 3 shavings of Parmesan on there, very disappointing. Our server was clearly overwhelmed, it took us a while to be able to order our pizza after the the apps. They also didn't appear to have napkins? When we asked for some napkins we were given cocktail napkins from the bar. If you're serving pizza that you eat with your hands you need to provide napkins. We also had to ask for plates when the apps were brought out, and had to ask again for clean plates when the pizza arrived. We also ordered a bottle of beer that we wanted to share just to be able to get a taste. When we ordered it we asked for two glasses, but it was brought out with a single glass, which was quickly remedied but it should have been brought out correctly. The interior is beautiful and has really been upgraded from what this space was before. However, all the televisions had old football games on, and this space looks too elevated for this. We literally don't need to watch TV while we socialize and eat, much less recorded games from last year. It really took away from the ambiance. I hope they can get these issues ironed out, as it's a great option otherwise in this space since Oviedo Brewing closed. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant and brewery after watching a movie at the mall. I was pleasantly surprised. The name suggested some German foods but the menu is kind of more like "whatever we feel like". I didn't get a theme off of it. You can order empanadas or pizza or wings! I had an excellent experience at the new Bruder in Oviedo Mall. I was able to sample 6 beers total as I did a 4 beer flight plus 2 beer bottles on the side. Everything was delicious! I loved the passion fruit lager, pineapple & peach lager, Vienna lager, and stout. Also, don't sleep on the coffee schwarzbier or chocolate beer! Everything was very sessionable and easy to drink, so that is my only caution to make sure that you don't end up having too many! read more

The food is a mix of hearty and healthy -- a vegan burger and Kale & Quinoa croquettes along with a hearty salad are on the menu. The salad was nice and the hummus had lots mixed into it. Food was just ok - nothing special. As of right now, the place is not a brewery -- beer is served in bottles. Our server said the draft lines will be open after the July 17 grand opening. I had an imperial stout, and IPA and a Barley Wine. All were somewhat understated but good -- hopefully fresh brewed beer served on drat improves that. This place is really confusing! It is a Columbian owned German Brewery that does not brew any beer and does not have a liquor license . . . Needless to say this is a first and last for me. Food is absolutely atrocious, we ordered onion rings and what they call Croquettes. They were flavorless and not appealing to the eye as my photos will demonstrate. My wife made an excellent observation, stating this place did not smell like food and that should have been a huge red flag but we tried it anyways. Service is odd too, when we walked in they said "How can we help you" I jokingly said you can serve me food and drinks??? They serve drinks in plastic cups and I had to pour my own bottled beer into said cup. Ambience makes no sense it is not a brewery, not a bar, nor restaurant. It is as if the owner let his girlfriend decorate the place, it is goudy and not inviting at all! I patiently waited months to experience a Germany Brewery in Oviedo. Or so I thought it was a German Brewery based on the name.... and instead got a chance to write this review. I do not expect this place lasting long, and I am ok with that! We were at the mall for an event and decided to give the new Bruder restaurant and brewery a try. I had the chocolate stout and my companion the award-winning passion fruit beer. Both were tasty and would order again. Our server, Gio, was friendly, attentive, and helpful in making beer suggestions based on our preferences. We also had the onion rings - fresh and crispy with a very thin mustard sauce, and the peppercorn burger which came with fries. The fries were thick cut, real, fresh potatoes. The flavor of the burger was solid but we would likely try a different burger next time. The ambience is wonderfully warm and sophisticated and they really gave this space the glow up it needed. The decor was an upgrade however during this soft opening, I wasn't very impressed by the food, which was a bit pricey. The apps were not very sharable for myself and 4 friends. We had the pea hummus, which didn't come with enough pitas, and the empanadas. We also tried the drunken sausage, chicken wings, and pork belly ceviche. I wouldn't order any of them again. My mom and I went for lunch today and had a great first experience. They did a great job recreating the space in this building. Very pretty modern design with a little flair here and there. The bartender Alexandra was so nice and very helpful with describing the menu and all the options. We had two very well mixed margaritas even though they are known for their home brewed beers. We split the drunken sausage plate which was Columbian sausage and roasted potatoes and they were phenomenal. I rarely leave reviews, but I felt I should share my experience at Bruder because I had high expectations. I visited on a Saturday afternoon when there were only a few customers at the bar, and the servers were friendly and welcoming. I ordered the churrasco with roasted potatoes, and my meal arrived in about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, both the steak and potatoes were cold. At first, I tried to overlook the temperature because the steak itself was well-seasoned and flavorful, but I just couldn't get past eating a cold meal. I mentioned it to one of the servers, who asked if I wanted it warmed up. I agreed. A few minutes later, my food was returned on a new plate, but it was still cold. It seemed like the potatoes had been microwaved just enough to be slightly warmer, while the steak remained cold. What was most disappointing was that no one came by to apologize, check on the meal, or ask if the issue had been resolved. I ended up leaving disappointed. I genuinely hope they improve, because the food has potential and the staff was welcoming. read more

This place is a bar overall with a very limited menu. I was told it was a soft menu but they've been open for 2 months. I expected more Colombian authentic food not burgers and pizza. I left truly disappointed and the service was average. The ambiance is very nice. I won't be back again unless i see that they add more Spanish food. 2 burgers were average for $16 each and 2 mini empanadas for $9 that were hard was below expectations. It was raining out and there was a canal outside the front door from roof runoff of the building. Next time I'll need a canoe. read more

We had wings, a little large but cooked well(sauce great) empanadas, 1 chicken 1 beef, phenomanal, sauce was great reminded me of zaza's saice, and a peppercorn burger with steak fries, could sub fries for steak salad. Service was very good, friendly workers who said they enjoy the job and are treated well. Beers we had were the ponapple peach and lulo, both very good.
