The selection process from temporary to permanent staff is based on some manager liking you or not rather than by merit (even though you met the person once face to face and just walking around or in a sporadic group meeting in the office -never a one to one- as we have been working from home the whole time). Because of that they have a high turnover rate of staff. (My direct clients, being them financial advisers or private clients-policy holders had a high regard for my work, as per their reviews, and that what it counts for me after all) A toxic and stressful spying-snitch culture is well embedded in the Lloyds Banking Group as the company has a facade of mental-health support and correctness but only in name. My line manager was inept, incapable of solving any problems/issues, unsupportive and incompetent. Other than the knowledge of the Scottish Widows products, neither of the skills learnt there are transferable to other jobs. So, I'm glad that I changed jobs and now I'm working for a better (in every sense) financial institution. I'd worked for the insurance branch of the company for less than a year. So, I'm glad that I changed jobs and now I'm working for a better (in every sense) financial institution. For the records I usually stay around 7 years in jobs and this is the first one I was glad to leave in less than 12 months. Working from home, IT equipment is provided too, like laptop, screen monitor and peripherals, new entry and direct colleagues were nice till they left the company for better pastures before I did. Low salary, too much irrelevant information to be learnt, the juice is not worth the squeeze wage-wise, toxic and stressful spying-snitch culture is well embedded, some senior staff at your level just don't care and can make your working day miserable.

I use it as a back -up for my main bank account but as I have become older it has in many ways been the mainstay of my financial future. My only concern is that it does not become too big and loses the personal touch, I have always had 100% customer satisfaction and I am not that easy to please. Long may it last.

I had been a good member of the union for about 18 months,i saved and even had a small loan with them. However,i got shot of my own bank (LIoyds TSB)for the amount of charges they were levying against me so i called into the Hamilton place branch of the union to upgrade my account which would have included a debit card to be told "Sorry,we cannot give you a card as you are not in paid employment. Now,let me make my situation clear here. First of all,i wasn't some deadbeat on the dole,i am a genuinely disabled person who has his own house and i was getting about £220 per week clear from the DSS,my mortgage was paid for and i am rates exempt with no bad debts but still they refused me a poxy debit card because i wasn't in "paid employment". Well, suffice to say i am no longer a member of that Credit Union,in fact i now bank with a non-status bank who have given me a good Mastercard Debit card so up yours capital, here is one customer who is getting on all right without you and,as far as loans are concerned i joined another Edinburgh Credit union who cater for my loans request just nicely. They're gain and your loss.

Opening an Account- The company's policy appears to be dis-trust everything. Before relocating to Scotland I called the call centre to discuss account opening requirements. On two occasions calls with bankers were scheduled to discuss the account options and on both occasions the bankers failed to call. (I should have taken this as a sign). After arriving I went to the bank with the documents the call centre told me were required to establish an account. The bank told me the call centre was wrong and it was a common theme and 'not to listen to the call centre' (helpful). Adding a spouse- When my husband joined me in Scotland and we tried to add him to the account it was another myopic journey, with one 'customer service rep' telling us she could not add him because 'he could be holding me hostage'!? Online banking- The online system is antiquated and transactions take several days to post. There are many things you cannot do online, and the representatives in banks are also limited. Other services- we purchased contents insurance with RBS, and when we moved to another locations were surprised when the quote increased significantly. When I checked the rate with other suppliers, we found we could obtain identical insurance for less than half the price.

After changing hands a few times its now used by the Royal Bank of Scotland. Add an extension or two onto the entrance hall and the reason I really enjoy coming here is stepping into the grand airy space where you do your banking, is complete with domed ceiling as a majestically colourful centre piece. With star shapes cut into the dome, inset with glass it has the effect of not only letting in exterior light during the day but enhancing the architecture of the period. The interior design reminds me a bit like a visit to the Pantheon in Rome. I was in to investigate deals on home ins, and needed to have a private chat, so was led through the left side door into a hallway full of rooms. The opposite side I think contains vaults. Once seated was offered tea...tasty, some mins or so later was presented with an unbeatable quote. Managers and staff supplied facts with no pressure to accept, they may not always have the best deals around in a competitive market, but great customer service; s'pose you can't have it all ways. In all pleasant staff who know their stuff and are quite helpful in suggesting where the info you need is. Was required to find out more about US daily currency rates and special deals they had wrt various exchange rates.
