I am HORRIFIED at what Robert's workers did to my yard. I hired them through Greenpal and ready such great reviews. I only wish I had come to Yelp first. :( MY BIG FAT MISTAKE! After I saw my yard, I called Robert right away to try to see if he could come make this right. I explained what happened and offered to send him photos but he wasn't interested in seeing them. (!!???) All he did was make excuses for a just plain SHITTY job. SHAME ON HIM! How do you operate a business like that?! We had just spent $6000 in professional landscaping about 1 month ago and had the yard mowed professionally by our landscaper 2 weeks prior to Robert's guys, and it was amazing! Unfortunately our landscaper doesn't service lawns in our area regularly so we needed to find another company. Bruce Lawn Service damaged our sod, ripped it up in various places, left all of the grass COMPLETELY uneven, left grass trimmings everywhere--it actually looks like the workers did donuts on our lawn. This is an absolute disgrace and I am abhorred. *For your reference: I also reached out to Greenpal and they have not responded. Definitely recommend to stay away from this provider. read more

Last year, Bruce Lawn Service's crew ran over my landscape fencing with their mower and I have it on video. My neighbor is a customer, not me. I called and he said he'd drop a new fence and it never happened. He refuses to respond to my messages and emails. It's been 8 months. Hopefully, Bruce Lawn Service doesn't destroy your property because you're probably not getting it fixed/replaced. They also blow their grass clippings, etc under the fence so I have to clean up my side after their crew comes. Last month, they ran over my plants or hit them with something in the back outside our fence. I shouldn't have to clean up their mess (blown grass clippings and rocks under the fence every week), pay for new broken fencing, and lose plants because my neighbor has hired a landscaping service. read more

I called and spoke with Bruce himself and made an appointment for him to come and give me an estimate the next day which was Tuesday May 8. Bruce never came and I never received a call or a text with an explanation. Good customer service is as important as doing a professional job. Arranged biweekly services for my tiny lawn. Waited a week for my first mow since they are only in my area on certain days. Total no show! Texted asking if anyone was still coming and got a response of "probably not". No apology, no let me make it up to you. Great first impression! Then he texted that he would check with the Foreman and was never to be heard from again. It's never about the problem, it's always about how it's handled. We finally found a reputable, reliable, and knowledgable. When Spring arrived, we made an appointment and Bruce & Co. was a no show. Although their bid was higher than the others I had received, I went with them for my bush removal because they could do it quickly. They did not clean up very well at all. I spent quite a bit of time cleaning up afterwards and found a root that was sticking 9" above the ground. I can not recommend them. If you have to use them, then be on site to supervise. I get the feeling they must have used some young inexperienced guys to do this job. The owner would not have been so sloppy and unprofessional. read more

I was happy with this service, I wanted this to be my permanent lawn service. They did such a good job when they did come out. Then I am not sure what happened, they just stopped coming and did not perform the yard services I requested. Another reviewer said the owner was unorganized and this could possibly been the case b/c I was highly disgusted at how he handled his payments. I've used Bruce Lawn Service for a few years now, and hadn't had any complaints the first couple of years. But this year was a completely different story. Like similar reviews, they were a no show for weeks. Once I spoke to Robert, he claims they lost the key, because his foreman quit. Things didn't get any better from there. I got constant complaints from the tenants that the lawn was not serviced. Robert then invoiced me for 20 mows (based on last year's invoice, not the service that was actually provided). He looked at his records and all of a sudden it was only 16 mows? He also claims to have done fall leaf cleanup, but photos shortly thereafter from the tenants show otherwise. After speaking with Robert on the phone trying to get to a reasonable invoice that I could pay, I found him to be extremely unprofessional and eventually had to hang up on him when he started yelling at me. I would give 1 star, but have givin the extra for the first two years of service. read more

I posted a negative review of Bruce Lawn Service about a month or so ago, and then I was asked to take it down as we agreed on a monetary settlement. However, after 3 emails and 3 promises of "I'll send a check this week", I have never received the check. After the third email I sent him in which I told him I was going to put the review back up because he did not keep his word, he sent me an email back telling me not to threaten him. He calls himself a professional, but I really don't think professional business people act like that. The first time this service came here, I thought they did a pretty good job, but after that WOW what a change. Mr. Bruce is unprofessional and doesn't listen to what you want done. He put mulch down way too soon and before any spray was applied to prevent the weeds. Then the dandelions started to pop through by the dozens so he came and sprayed everything, including some of my perennials that were coming up also. The spray killed a bunch of stuff in my garden, such as my honeysuckle bush which I have had for 15 years. After the dandelions wilted, he did not bother to pull them out so I suppose I will get them again next year. This is the first time in the 19 years I have lived here that I have seen more than 5 or 6 dandelions. His billing is sloppy and handwritten, as well as his proposals. We only hired him because he did get some good reviews on Yelp, but I certainly can't see how. I rarely give bad reviews, but in this case, I felt I had to. Sorry, Mr. Bruce, you should have kept you agreement. read more

This spring I decided it was time for me to find another company to do my lawn service and snow removal, because the company I had been using for several years kept raising their prices but lowering the quality of services. I noticed that Bruce Lawn Service was doing lawncare for a number of my neighbors who were very happy with their service, and I thought since they had several customers in the same area, they're prices might be more competitive. I called them to book an initial yard clean-up and get on a regular lawn care schedule. Robert responded to my call the same day and came out to view my property the next morning. We agreed that the property needed a good clean-up, clearing our brush and weeds, and trimming 5 very large trees and 4-5 smaller ones. He quoted me a good price for both the clean up and weekly lawncare. So far I've been very pleased with the service and would highly recommend them. As to customer service, yes we all want everything to go perfectly and as promised, but I think the true test is how the company responds when something goes wrong - for example - the second week of our contract the team didn't show up to do my lawn . . . they usually do our lawns between 7:30 am - 8:00 am on Tuesdays. I noticed when I left for work that they had done my neighbors' but not mine. I saw the team further down the street and stopped to ask them, and they said I wasn't on the route list. I didn't argue, I just made a simple call to Robert and advised him what had happened. He apologized and said it would be corrected and wouldn't happen again. When I got home that night my lawn was done - and it hasn't happened again. As for their billing/accounting system - I receive a monthly bill via email and I pay using the payment link on their website - it easy and simple. I find Robert and his team to be responsive, polite, and professional and they do a great job. I would highly recommend them and plan on using them for snow removal if they have room on their schedule. read more

I had a horrible experience with this company. I spoke with Bruce about his workers mowing and chemically treating my lawn, after I had already stopped my service with this company. This caused a great deal of damage to my lawn. Bruce was very unprofessional and spoke to me in a very disrespectful tone. It also took six months before I was sent my invoice for services from the previous summer. Think long and hard before you hire this company. This company is disgusting. read more

I have had a terrible time securing reliable lawn service the past few years. Not only did Robert follow through, he did it in a short turnaround time. Everything we wanted done he did in time for our son's graduation party. Our new sod looks great as does our patio. Robert is always responsive, especially with questions. I located Bruce Lawn Service after my previous lawn provider was turning out to be unreliable. I called him and we had a brief conversation regarding my lawn needs and location. He quoted me a fair price and since Bruce was already servicing homes on my very same block he was able to get to my property that same week which I was super pleased to hear. They've been coming weekly since August and the yard looks vastly better than it did prior. I was pleased to find out that they send invoices electronically as long as you provide an email address (let's be green people!). I had a few questions regarding my bill and was able to email Bruce and received clarification within 24 hours. I really appreciate being able to communicate via email and text vs phone and he has always been super responsive. I plan on inquiring about his snow removal program once winter comes. Also his website advertises that he services residential and commercial properties. Overall I am pleased with Bruce Lawn Service! read more
