Delicious post-hike treat! Our family stopped here after hiking in Acadia for refreshments. We loved the idea of being able to get Hawaiian shave ice on the East Coast, and this place delivered on that dream. We tried items from the all-natural menu as well as the traditional (brighter colored, richer flavored) menu. The owner let us try the milk topping before we committed and we all said yes. We got 4 smalls for $21, and sat in the back gazebo to enjoy. Perfect easy treat on your way home from the island! read more

I went to the Bar Harbor location. I got the small natural blueberry flavor shaved ice for $4 before tax. The natural flavors are dye free like the menu says and it was a good flavor. I liked that the shaved ice is fine. I have only had snow cones and thought shaved ice would be coarse like a snow cone. I think the shaved ice was good for the $4 price. The service was very good and I was happy while there. The second location is nice and it is next to the Criterion theatre, so it is easy to find. I will be going again sometime. read more

This place is awesome. Not only are the flavors unique and incredibly tasty, but the owners are the friendliest people you will meet. Ask for a sample...no problem. Ask for 2 or 3...absolutely no issue. They have all natural and even sugar free. My wife and I have been in every day we have been in Bar Harbor and don't plan to break the streak. My wife and I visited Bar Harbor and Acadia for a few days last week. We were thrilled to find the Bar Harbor location still open, despite it being mid-October. We are obsessed with Hawaiian-style shave ice. We have tried many in Hawaii, including Waiola in Honolulu, Ululani's on Maui, and Jo Jo's on Kauai. We absolutely loved the shave ice at Brrrr Harbor. We had it twice a day, every day while we were in town. We loved trying all of the different flavors, including classic combinations like cherry and cola, but also weird but delicious flavors, like dill pickle and the floral all-natural flavors, like lavender and anise. The owners are the best! Free sample? No problem! Not sure about the cream? It's better than ice cream! We can't wait to go back next season. We've already marked down calendar dates.
