This gym is so cool. It reminds me of being in high school again. It feels like you are working out in a huge warehouse with lots of equipment. They have a huge weigh lifting area with a quite a bit of machines and free weights. The cardio area is ok. They do have a lot of cardio machines but most of them were old and some were not working. Also it was hard to see the televisions while on the cardio equipment and they could not change the tv channels. The best part of the gym is the cross fit area. There are a ton of squat racks, and the gym has cool stuff like a rope climb and big boulder carries like you see on World's strongest man competition! This area was super cool and I have never seen a gym with kegs and boulders to carry around. The guest policy over here is amazing!! It is $4 a day which workout well for me since I was only there for two days. I would come back here any time to lift weights and have fun while getting huge!! read more

This is the best gym that you will find in NEPA! They have all the equipment you need, whether you be a power lifter, bodybuilder, or strongman. Plenty of space, and really st only $4 for a day pass you might as well check it out. Brown's is absolutely the best gym in the area. I bounced around to several gyms before Brown's and they aren't on the same level as Brown's is. The clientele ranges from beginners just trying to get in shape to bodybuilders who can be (and are) fitness models. Everyone can feel welcomed here, yet you don't have to sacrifice quality for this attitude like you do at places like Planet Fitness. I have yet to meet anyone who was not courteous and even helpful to beginners. I see myself as being moderately experienced when it comes to working out, I'm not a bodybuilder but I'm not new to the sport either. Brown's has everything that I could possibly want. There are fitness classes ranging from step aerobics to high intensity interval training (HIIT). There is a cycling room with spin classes tailored to all levels of experience. Brown's has recently installed a cross fit area with classes a few times a week. There are plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers and cross trainers in the cardio area and I've never had a problem getting on any type of machine. Most importantly to me, however, is the weight area. This takes up almost half of the main floor and has top quality equipment. Nothing ever seems to be broken due to a great preventative maintenance plan and if something does happen to break, it's almost always fixed by the next day. The gym is kept very clean and tidy. Most people are good about wiping down the cardio equipment when finished. Not as good at wiping down the weightlifting equipment, but this doesn't really bother me and is typical at most gyms. Locker room facilities are expansive and have plenty of lockers for everyone to store their stuff in. You can rent a locker for a nominal fee for the year or just use one for the day at no cost as long as you remove your lock when finished. There is a dry sauna and a steam room in both the men's and women's locker. Cleanliness is sometimes questionable in both these areas but all-in-all its not too bad. The real gem of Brown's are the owners, Jim and his wife Janel. Jim is a champion powerlifter and one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He's always walking through the gym with a smile or working out and is ALWAYS helpful. I've seen him stop mid workout to help someone who was performing an exercise wrong or just to say hi to a member. Janel is also a champion powerlifter and shares the same attitude as her husband. I had been going to Brown's Gym on and off for more than 10 years (due to me moving out of the area and only coming to visit family). It had always been my gym of choice due to convenience and the fact that they had a variety of weightlifting equipment. Unfortunately, I am no longer able to use this gym as I rely on childcare, which they no longer have available. You would think that in an area that prides itself on being "family-friendly" that there would be a gym available that caters to families! I get that this gym is supposed to be for weightlifters, but has it occurred to the owner that most people would like to continue working out even after they become parents? Consider changing this! I have only been to this gym between the hours of 11:30pm and 1:30am since I go after my work shift. My experiences have always been awesome, and the staff has been extremely friendly every time. They have every piece of equipment you can imagine. I got the monthly membership which is absolutely worth it for this 24/7 gym! This is the place to go and get a great workout. I have the physique of a wire coat hanger and I generally regard gyms as scary places filled with alien torture devices. Brown's Gym lured me in when I took a job in law enforcement and needed to pass a physical pretest with a bench pressing component. Not a natural bench presser, I sought the help of owner and world-class powerlifter Jim Brown, who convinced me to join his powerlifting club. Now let me tell you, the man is INVOLVED. Between the workouts that he wrote for me and the help of the other members of the gym (who many times saved me from hurting myself), my bench press increased by 20-25 pounds in six weeks. This gym isnt for the average person, lifting and staying in shape. Its semi dirty, full of rude people, and mainly for advanced lifters and college age guys leaving there equipment lie where ever they please. I liked this gym when i first started but now its just full of summer buffs acting like they own the place. Oh, and if you want someone walking in your space why youre trying to workout this is place, no one cares if youre working out there they just stand around talking and the majority of people just sit around on their phones. And im giving it 2 stars because i do like liftong amd they have a lot of weights but as for the people this place stinks. read more

The staff is just awesome! Very friendly as soon as you walk in the door! They offer free babysitting, so no excuses! They have every type of equipment/machines you would need! The crowd is very diverse ranging from beginners, strength trainers, body builders, to geriatrics! I feel no intimidation at all. It seems everyone is focused on their own goals rather than what anyone else is working on to pass judgement. This is a real gym where people go to strictly work on their personal goals rather than socialize or waste time. I love the straight forward pricing- no hidden fee's or commitments! You can cancel or freeze membership at anytime! Some equipment are older models, but it works & gets the job done. At certain hours it can get packed, but I believe that is because it is a well known gym with a good reputation. The best time to avoid a crowd is in early afternoon. I haven't gone during night shift however (they are 24 hours). The locker rooms are newly remodeled- they're fantastic and they have sauna rooms. I love it so I gave 5 stars. read more
