We had driven down from Jackson, WY and were exhausted. We chose this hotel based on the reviews and were not disappointed. Not fancy but, clean, comfortable bed and pillows, terrific coffee and wonderful staff. We definitely will stay on our next trip. read more

A great place to stay with small details that make it really special. Above average coffee and breakfast. Art and old west decor. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Everything you need. read more

We are traveling cross county on a motorcycle and finding quirky, non traditional places to spend 10 hours is a bonus. Lodge motif, cozy, loaded with eclectic art and outdoorsy flair... Brown's Canyon Inn is clean, the beds are comfy and the shower pressure is amazing. The owners are super friendly and eager to talk with visitors about Salida and beyond. Staying at Brown's Canyon Inn has been one of the highlights of our trik read more

When we walked in the door there were people leaving that smelled of fresh cigarette smoke. Through out the building it smelled of cigarette smoke. I'm very sensitive to cigarette smoke and left stuffed up and had a headache. Wrong place for me to stay! read more

Great little hotel. We were there in off-season, so it was a bit quieter than high season. Room was nice and big, everything was clean. Front desk guy was helpful. Breakfast has a good variety of pre-packaged foods and plenty of coffee. All in all, this will be our spot for future hotel stays in Salida read more

This quirky little hotel is a winner!! Lots of rustic decor added to make it feel like an old cabin. The lobby area was a fun place for guest to gather and visit about their travels. The breakfast is free and for this bargain price, you won't find this in a tourist city. Bagels, breads, pastries, oatmeal, burritos, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and all the condiments are available each morning. We loved the hot tub area w a large table to hang out and the scenery is adorable. I'm not sure if it's the owner or manager but she is always about watering flowers, cleaning tables and making sure everything is perfect. The rooms are spacious w a fridge and tv. Some rooms are pet friendly too, so we were able to bring our dog. I'm not sure I understand some other posts about furniture, breads or road noise. Spend more than $99 a night if you want a Hollywood Suite. This is a great family budget choice. If you want a high end buffet w carved beef and an omelet station, go pay $200 a night. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And there were open breads as well as sealed foods so if you are worried about Covid, you can have a sealed food choice. If the road bothers you, you literally saw this was on the main road online. Ask for a room in the back. With the AC humming, the road noise is not noticeable. We will definitely book again. Look at the pics for how cute the landscaping is around the hotel. read more

We were travelling through Salida on our way to Telluride and needed a place to stay for the night. We arrived late and the receptionist was very nice. The hotel and our room was super clean and had an old western theme. The room was fine for a night, but the furniture was old and in my opinion needed to ve replaced. Also there was a lot of traffic noise due to the location of the hotel. read more

Browns Canyon Inn - King room - Hotels Near Me - Salida, Colorado

Browns was by far one of my favorite hotels throughout my whole Colorado trip. A lovely woman owns it and she was so friendly throughout my overnight stay. She gave some great suggestions. I absolutely loved the theme of the inn. Lots of wood, animal prints, super homey and friendly. The beds were super clean and perfectly comfy. The bathroom was spacious and there was even some free snacks for breakfast. The star of the show was the view from the room. A beautiful view of the mountains was just what I wanted after a long drive. It was just perfect overall - I highly recommend the Browns Canyon Inn if you're ever traveling through the area. read more

The place was really clean and price was really reasonable. However, we paid more for the "Mountain View" which wasn't worth it in my opinion. You could see the mountain, but it was very far away and there were a lot of trees between here and there. The staff were helpful, but not particularly pleasant. read more

The property was fine but the owner was very unfriendly. There was a group of guests drinking coffee one morning and the owner came storming in right as breakfast ended to make sure to pour out a fresh pot of coffee that clearly other people were drinking and would have grabbed more. We had some friends stay at the Comfort Inn down the road and the staff sounded over the top nice. The owner of this hotel had a chip on his shoulder the whole time and didn't give a small town feel at all. Was more concerned with making his guests feel uncomfortable and not speaking a word to them when addressed. I wouldn't stay here again if I was looking for a family-friendly, warm environment. read more

Great hotel and best value in the Salida area. We stayed at Browns Canyon Inn on July 11, 2025 and really enjoyed our visit. It is one of the least expensive hotels in the area which makes it a great bargain if you plan on exploring the Salida/BV area. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and they provide an excellent breakfast in the morning. We greatly enjoyed the hot tub after climbing a 14er that day. Our stay was made even better based on the outstanding service provided by Kathy the hotel manager. She is a friendly, helpful woman who got us out of a jam based on a mistake we made with our reservation. We will definitely stay at the Browns Canyon Inn again and highly recommend it to other travelers. read more

I stayed here for the night during a work meeting. I'm so glad I stumbled upon it! The rooms were cozy and enjoyable. The breakfast was great. It had all of your traditional continental breakfast food, but then also fresh cut fruit, an oatmeal bar, frozen breakfast burritos/sandwiches, and freshly brewed coffee. Anytime I come to Salida, I'll only ever stay here now! read more

We arrived in Salida late on a Thursday night, and very tired. We got a room down the road at Great Western. That was a nasty, *horrible* experience. We made a desperate call to Brown's Canyon Inn, and they happily offered to hold their last room for us, and because of our other experience, they allowed us to view and inspect the room prior to paying. The hotel was CLEAN, comfortable, and modern. The best part was that it cost us less than the trashy room we had issues with prior to coming here. The next morning, we ate the breakfast they had, which beats most other hotel breakfasts. We met the owner, Mark, and expressed our gratitude to him and let him know his employee, Kathy was sooo amazing and really turned our horrible experience into a great one. We will ONLY be coming here in the future when in town. 10/10, I highly recommend. read more

Clean rooms with cute decor. Great price that included a continental breakfast of oatmeal, fruit, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, coffee, toast, and bagels. The furniture is in good shape, I don't know why people have complained about it. We paid under $130 after tax for two queen beds in a nice clean hotel. We slept in the front of the hotel (street side) with the window open. I am a light sleeper and didn't find the street side to be noisy. Nice soft bed and good pillows that put me right to sleep and the 'road noise' did not wake me up. read more

This place is an awesome hotel! The staff is super friendly, rooms are nice and clean, and in a quiet community! The staff provided amenities, helpful at answering our questions and super accommodating. Only downside was the heater/cooler was not working so a window needed to be propped open. But other than that, I would definitely stay here again! read more

Very clean and kept nicely. Beds were comfortable and the price is very reasonable. We will be visiting again and will book our room here.

Very nice Stayed 5 nights had no problems Clean room quiet nights Room In working order Nice breakfast options 99.00 dollars pre night is excellent value Good lighting outside Nice outdoors theme to motel and rooms Has hot tub out doors did not use But was in working order Cons No elevator the breakfast room is small but very unique No luggage carts Wife and I did enjoy the stay. definitely Would stay again in the future. read more

This is quite a deal for $99 per night plus taxes. Room is clean, beds were surprisingly comfortable, and breakfast and good drip coffee is included. My only complaint is that a large group was allowed to take over the lobby both nights we were there and was quite loud and there wasn't really room to congregate if you were not part of their squad. But otherwise this was a fantastic value, and I would return if in Salida. read more

The whole experience staying at the Brown Canyon Inn has been A-1 Positive with the owners Anna and Marc showing us a very comfortable and extremely hospitable stay. The amenities are all here for comfort and a feeling of ... home away from home. When you're visiting a hotel/motel on a pleasure or business trip, the one thing, at least to me is feeling comfortable. And in this day and age... safe. We have felt both during our time here and the next time we're in Salida will book once again, our time here. Highly recommended! read more

CLEAN , clean and cleaner. Did I forget to tell you how impeccably clean the rooms are . It's a truly quaint place- good for a 2 night stay. Layered in all sorta of mtn decor in lobby. Super nice owner and staff. This is not a party place.. or let your kids run like untrained animals- go to holiday inn if you are that type. Mom pop shop #respect. read more

NO ELEVATOR. That creepy kind of rustic mountain decor. Clean, decent, but bare bones. Mickey mouse breakfast. Despite their protestations of " we are doing this because of COVID," they offered open breads with communal butter/margarine and jellies. Hmm. Salida is an oddly high-priced destination, I suppose, because of the sport-centric location. Also, for some reason, this destination offers the dreaded round toilet. Why? There is plenty of room. read more

We recently spent a long weekend in the Salida area and, disappointed we could not find a room in a downtown hotel, found Browns which is about 8 blocks south of town. Wonderful place, comfy rooms, clean, great bath/shower. Downstairs coffee and breakfast snacks free and fresh early every morning, plenty of parking. And it's 50 yards from the 50 Burger place that is awesome, beer, shakes and burgers - beat that! Then a short drive away is maybe the best breakfast spot in the USA, "Patio Pancakes" - get there early, they get jammed fast for their delicious and inexpensive food. Definitely would stay here again. read more

The owners are so nice and really create an incredible environment. I had a beautiful view of the mountains from my room and it was exceptionally clean. I was here for work and the locals all said this was the cleanest hotel in town. I look forward to returning and staying again! read more

Stayed here for only one night between Royal Gorge and Mt Princeton Hot Springs parts of our vacation. Very nice, rustic cabin decor, soft beds, clean, quiet-were on back side away from road. arrived at this hotel and was pleasantly surpised! Very friendly staff! Super clean and very original decor- There was an actual branch on my wall- what a smart way to take nothing and make something from it! My bed was comfortable- room also had a couch in it and two other soft comfortable chairs to sit in. There seemed to be plenty of hotwater, and the parking lot was well lit- Thank you Staff for providing me with a clean comfortable qaulity stay! read more

Love this place! The owners/staff are extremely kind and accommodating. Very clean, reasonably priced with mountain views and a nice continental breakfast. This is our favorite place to stay in Salida! read more

What a quaint and welcoming hotel with impeccable service from the owners and gorgeous woodwork and art (all done by the husband! so talented!). The exterior was sweet with colorful potted flowers that automatically make you smile. The beautiful two-story lobby was a totally unexpected surprise - like a private mountain lodge or chalet. The rooms were pristine, clean, and decorated in a lovely mountain vibe. A two-bed with Mountain View room worked great for our family of four (two older teens and two parents). The grounds to the left of the hotel surrounding the parking lot were precious ... a pebble area with flowers begged one to go sit and meditate. The hot tub was similarly situated under a lovely trellis that was so inviting. Just a short drive took us to the gorgeous little riverside of downtown of Salida, where we enjoyed a yummy dinner at the Boat House overlooking the river. Breakfast provided by the hotel was easy and convenient! Browns Canyon Inn seriously is the best hotel in Salida - absolutely loved it! read more
