Was in beautiful Parkdale for a fall weekend and saw on the Grange's sign that they were having a…read morefall harvest dinner (lunch). The idea certainly piqued our interest so we stopped in the next day to see how it looked, and boy are we glad we did. The interior is basically a big dining hall. They had a lunch buffet set up with all kinds of goodies - salad, cole slaw, beets, mashed potatoes & gravy, sauerkraut, apple sauce, jello/whipped cream salad, and more - all homemade I think. That was all you could eat. Then they also had a meat choice of ham or chicken fried steak (and you only got to get one of those, once). I got the latter, which was quite good. And then the pies......oh, the pies. They had 2 massive tables full of different varieties, and it was all you can eat. WHAAAAT!!! Our family ended up getting 11 slices - yes, you read that right. And I'm going to list them all here: gooseberry, strawberry rhubarb, coconut cream, plum, pistachio cream, mincemeat, rhubarb, pear & sour cream, butterscotch, and cherry. They were all excellent - particularly the strawberry rhubarb and the pistachio. Let's just say that we didn't eat dinner that night. The people were incredibly friendly and hospitable. We will DEFINITELY be back again, perhaps in the spring for their cherry blossom dinner.
