I recently visited Brown Sugar Skin in Jamaica Plain for a Brazilian wax, and overall, I had a positive experience. Sheranny was friendly and attentive, greeting me promptly when I called her upon arrival (a good tip: text or call when you get there because the doorbell isn't always heard in the back). The space is shared with a few other businesses, but Sheranny's suite felt private and inviting, with a chill playlist creating a calm atmosphere.
It was clear she was well-prepared, with a wide range of supplies and tools ready for multiple services, which gave me confidence she knew her craft well. The waxing itself was efficient and done with thoughtful technique -- Sheranny was careful and precise throughout the session.
Before my appointment, I received multiple reminders via text and email. While it's nice to be reminded, I felt it was a bit excessive, and something a little lighter might feel less overwhelming for some clients.
One minor downside: I left a note about a sensitive area I wanted special attention on, but I'm not sure it was reviewed because it wasn't addressed during the session.
What truly set this experience apart was the aftercare -- Sheranny made sure I was well hydrated and moisturized after waxing, which is something I rarely get from other aestheticians. Definitely something others aestheticians can take notes on. read more
