The prices for some orders while a bit much, are always fresh and crispy which is worth it. Brown's Chicken is under new management. It is Zabiha/Halal. Since I was a kid, I've always loved their fried mushrooms but lately it has been greasy and unappetizing. Well, we went this Monday and all I can say is that they're BACK!!! The fried chicken was really good. I anxiously anticipated their fried mushrooms and they were simply delicious. It was like a blast from the past. We also ordered meatball sandwich from the menu. It was really good. The owner is nice and friendly. Absolutely awful this location forces you to buy a side to a get a staple deal found at other locations, the 10 for 10. Once we got the food the supposedly large side of mashed potatoes were half full and the chicken was stale and refried. Before heading to the restaurant, I looked up this location and was ecstatic they were open until 10pm. Call them to confirm what time they closed and they said the kitchen closes at 8:45pm. Headed to the restaurant and walked in around 8:30pm and the lady at the register was on the phone. No greeting, just continued on the phone which appeared to be a personal call. I looked at the menu board trying to figure out what to order for a good 5-6 mins. Finally decided to order and placed an order for an 8 piece meal. The lady then said they only have 6 pieces left. When asked if they can fry up just 8 more pieces, she refused. Mind you, this is all before 8:45pm. Long story short. This location needs to correct their closing time online and advise the customer RIGHT AWAY that they only have whatever is left instead of watching the customer contemplate on what to order for a good 5-6mins only to tell them that got nothing left and can't help you. read more

I love me some fried chicken... BUT!! Not from this place! The Indian man behind the counter was not very pleasant and I am guessing he was the owner. If you wanted to change anything in your meal it was a dollar up charge. The chicken was alright, kinda crappy and as for the sides... Very tasteless and gross. Evidently not all Brown's Chickens are the same. Stay away from this one ... in a strip mall about 1 mile west of Woodfield Mall. How can they not fry their classic chicken, fritters or mushrooms correctly?! Dark, greasy, tough, overcooked. My guess: they use old oil - tasted odd anyway. Maybe the same flavor as the fried food in the Indian restaurant next door? Sat. night at 6:45, 20 min. wait with only one other guy waiting for his food before me. A cook came out of the restroom right next to the counter carrying a bag of food - hope he washed his hands. $25 for an 8 piece greasy dinner :P The woman at the counter couldn't care less when I said I wouldn't be back because the wait was so long. I agree with a previous reviewer - Palatine or Elk Grove or Skokie have good Brown's - for those couple times a year you have a craving. read more

Several years ago, I ate at this location on a weekly basis, but circumstances have prevented me from visiting in a long time. So when I had the opportunity, I was happy to eat there. When I walked in I immediately noticed the foul odor in the place. I considered just walking out, but ordered despite my misgivings. I wanted an all white meat order but was told by the clerk that only a breast and thigh were available. I agreed,but was again a little turned off by the fact that she got the chicken from an aluminum pan. I took my order and traveled a couple of minutes to eat it. It was only warm and not close to being hot, the mashed potatoes were the same. Upon biting into the chicken, I was disgusted by the weird taste. It seemed like it was cooked in dirty oil, or more likely cooked with something it shouldn't be. To make matters worse, I was charged for all white meat. I stopped eating because I wasn't looking forward to getting sick. I will never eat at thIS location again. The thought of it turns my stomach. I am not sure of how this location is owned but it would be worthwhile to shut it down or clean house because it is really tainting the reputation of Brown's Chicken, but then again corporate is also bad. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! First of all, the place was extremely dirty! The bathrooms were HORRENDOUS! No cleanliness whatsoever, ordered a family meal of fried chicken, "buffalo" wings, cole slaw, corn, and a beef burger. First off walking into this Brown's it definitely smell like they were just cooking chicken. Customer service sucks. When we walked in, the lady behind the counter was on a personal phone call and took our order while still on the phone. French fries were under cooked and they advertise 16 oz. drink in the combo special and try giving you a 12 oz. can. The show and volume. And the booths are small. I'm not that big, felt very cramped. I didn't order soda, but it appears by the sign on the machine refills are $1.00 - ridiculous. Onion rings tasted burned, though weren't, leading me to think they are overdue on changing fryer oil. And flimsy plastic forks, not ideal for trying to eat chicken. And again, cold.
