ABSOLUTE WORSE EXPERIENCE AFTER BROWN MANAGEMENT AND LORI BAYLESS TOOK OVER MANAGEMENT AT THIS BUILDING! ROB B. I HOPE YOU are reading this and invite you to phone me directly. Lori has my number. Prior to this management company, Optima was peaceful. it was fun, and felt secure. I lived here with my two children. We were looking for a secure and peaceful place. INSERT LORI BAYLESS and you NOW have a nightmare. This nightmare is only concerned with ONE THING! PROFIT MARGINS. Protection immediately transitioned into POLICING. Regardless of how you view it, a management company is present to protect and manage the property. BROWN MANAGEMENT FAILS TO UPHOLD THIS PRESENCE AND SHOULD BE ASHAMED. Lori is an absolute rotten person. NOT BULLYING but a clear reality. Allow me to paint the picture and please know I am happy to offer the email chains and recorded conversations. Perhaps we can look at this as an opportunity? Perhaps this can be the review that sparks the change needed for proper representation and management of a community in dire need.... I TRULY HOPE ROB AND LORI ARE READING...take notes. Our nightmare began in November 2017. Keep in mind at this point I have resided in this building for almost 2 years with NO PROBLEMS. INSERT THE PROBLEM: 1. An unauthorized tow was made on my boyfriends car. Lori was not able to manage the situation, failed to follow through on her own instructions, and created a nightmare. Management is the ability to manage people, situations, or things and she clearly FAILED in this moment. BILL, the HOA Vice President, paid to have our car released, apologized, and case closed. Mistakes happen... A few weeks later we were greeted with a VIOLATION and now being fined for harassment of an employee. It leaves us to believe that LORI craves power and was now seeking $$$ as some sort of retaliation. She escalated every conversation, was an absolute aggressor, and leveraged her power to bully, harass, and then manipulate conversations to retaliate. THE BOARD/HOA supports her in these actions as they gain the $$$ from the violations she writes. LORI TARGETS RENTERS. As she uses the boards "BY LAWAS and CCRS" as a barrier claiming they will only deal directly with the landlord. As if it could get worse her employee, NATALIE, is in on the violation mission. 2. SECOND INSTANCE. My father was admitted into ICU and then passed. The office was made aware as we were anticipating flowers for his service. Flowers, fruit, and so on were delivered to the unit. LORI ignored the deliveries. Allowed them to stay there days. The flowers were limp and the fruit was molded. RETALIATION. When does it stop? We had a meeting with the HOA, the board, and Lori to try to seek resolve. My landlord attended on our behalf asking that Lori stop harassing. The board refused to accept that Lori would do such things. I GET IT. She acts sweet as pie in their presence. In their absence the residents all know the truth. SHE YELLS. SHE SCREAMS. She bullies and pin points residences for violations. How many times have we walked into the office hearing Lori and Natalie brag about how the residence do not like them... So LORI...are you getting a cut of the fines you deliver? Or do you just feed off of policing and bullying people? Fines range $25-$500...not a bad bonus? 3. FORCED TO MOVE. My children and I no longer felt safe or at home at Optima. Lori did an excellent job at making it clear that THE BOARD AND THE HOA DO not welcome renters. Per Alan P. "We are not in the rental business! We were here only to save as we are building a home....Its pretty sad. I know there are other renters and even residence there now, living in this policed hell whole Brown management has created. We moved, prior to our lease. Total costs to leave...$10,000 Out of pocket. My landlord lost a tenant. Our move out was less than pleasant. Lori fought us the entire time. Lori has allowed this building to go to hell. The windows are fifthly, the pipes leak, water is gray, the pool is closed and collapsing, and she takes ZERO accountability. Perhaps if she focused on management versus policing the building would at least have hope. This review is to you! The person living there that may not realize that this is not ok. This is a fair housing violation and at some point and in some moment this CAN AND WILL CHANGE. I am not mad. Just disappointed. 1. Disappointed that LORI BAYLESS is allowed to treat people this way. 2. Disappointed that BROWN MANAGEMENT defends such behavior. 3. Ashamed that Alan Perry THE PRESIDENT backs this repulsive behavior. 4. Shocked that William G & Sheryl L. Scholz stand by this circus. Your wise Bill... I only feel that we are here to be good humans. If you can lay your head on your pillow at night and truly say it was ok to be treated this way then perhaps we should all check our moral compass. Our prior HOAs were amazing, this company, the exact opposite. Our community switched HOAs at the end of last year while my family and I were on vacation. We came home to a letter with a very unorthodox method of setting up our payments, so I talked to a neighbor to figure it out, followed the instructions, and set the payments up. I wanted to make sure that I had set everything up correctly and ask if I'd missed any payments, so I reached out to Brown using the email and phone number provided for contact. I heard nothing from them for over a week, so I reached out again, still no response. In the beginning of the next month, my payment went through as planned. I assumed from no reply and my payment going though that everything was OK. It was definitely not OK. Months went by, I called in to ask other HOA questions and make a request to have something fixed (which I received very slow replies and NOTHING WAS FIXED; they were actually about to cite me for an issue that a landscaper they'd contracted caused and admitted to, so I had to pay and fix it all on my own to avoid a citation), I was never told once that I had missed payments or anything was awry. About half a year later of paying my HOA fee on-time every month, I'm being notified that a lien is about to be put on my home. Imagine my bewilderment! I called in to figure out what was going on and why such a drastic measure was going to be taken with this being the first time I've ever heard of any issue. They told me notices had been sent in the mail, but I'd never received them. I asked why I wasn't notified electronically (the current year being 2018 and all), told when I called in to talk to employees, or ever contacted back when I initially emailed and called- they had no answers. Their only answer for the mixup was that the appointed-by-them point of contact had been fired- which is definitely my fault for not knowing, right? I asked how we could meet in the middle and make recompense since I took initiative to reach out IN THE VERY BEGINNING and they were at fault. No apologies came from or blame assigned to Brown Community Management, it was all on me to pay everything back- they said there was nothing they could do to help. I simply had to pay up. Great customer service, right? I was directed to accountant who broke down what I owed and helped me understand the things I had to pay back. We went back and forth for about a week, but I set up a plan to repay it all, and emailed that to her. I asked her to confirm that it had been set up, since the lack of confirmation was what caused this in the first place, and waited. I heard nothing for a week, so I emailed her again to express my disappointment since I had a deadline to meet so a lien wasn't put on my home. To my surprised, I got an automated email saying that the accountant had been fired as well! Yet again, I was up a river without a paddle. I would have never known if I HADN'T REACHED OUT AGAIN. This company, goodness... I contacted the person the automated email told me to, told them that I was now really upset, especially since I've had to do all the work/reaching out, and asked to talk to a competent employee to solve this conundrum once and for all. I finally reached them, was given no help to set up the repayments (some were pending), but set it all up so I'd be done. Just a few days ago, I was contacted by a different accountant (finally, they reached out to me before I had to be the one to check in), but the news was I had to pay them more money. I was confused, the exact amount specified by the other accountant was no longer the correct amount. I asked for this new amount to be broken down multiple times, but was never given a written response, I just had a ledger sent to me over and over. After more nonsense, and a month's-worth of debating, I'm paying a higher amount back than what was stipulated. I AM SO UPSET that I'm willing to write this novel; it says a lot about this terrible organization. If you're into terrible service and incompetent employees, Brown is the group for you. read more

I was unfortunate enough to be "blessed" with Brown as property manager for the condo I lived in, briefly. After being assessed the most petty and unreasonable fines, having a vendetta launched against me because I discovered a huge coverup by the board of defective water pipes issues within the building, I sold my condo at a loss, just to escape these Nazis. They wrung $2,000 out of me on my way out for laughable fines such as - a plastic container hanging 2" over my balcony. No thought to a polite email asking me to pull it back? Nope. Slapped with a fine. A "glass" at the pool, which I could prove was plastic. An illegal search of my condo for a fake "gas leak" that supposedly occurred on the entire 2nd floor, yet none of the other residents of the 2nd floor were subject to this search. Who knows WHY this Nazi decided to invade my condo while I was at work, but she did. And when confronted with her illegal search, she made up more reasons to fine me. Then I was accused of my condo causing a water leak to the first floor. I went down there, walked in and saw ZERO water leaks. Again, more harassment and time off work to investigate this false accusation. Then I found out that most of the door locks in the building were defective and the management knew about it, but were slapping the residents with the fix. To say nothing of the creepy management of the building spying with their cameras on women in the elevators, yet when I asked for photos proving a robbery to my condo, suddenly they could only find one grainy shot for the police? So after I left I SWORE never to buy a condo with Brown at the helm. Imagine my shock and dismay when Brown weaseled their way into Lago Estancia in Gilbert. My heart sunk and my pocketbook inhaled. No shock, the fines and petty behavior came flaming out. Brown had not changed. And again, selective fines. If you complain about ANYTHING, Marilyn Bowman will do a drive by and find anything she can to slap you with. While, at the same time, she ignores board members or other residents infractions. Oust these bullies!!! Do not even think about hiring them. The legal bills for the HOA will increase 10x as residents scream in frustration. Neighbors turn in each other, this new Airbnb issue was dreamed up by Brown and rammed through with a "majority" vote ... Point is, once these leeches sink their fangs in, you'll be sorry. well, because the 4808 N 24th location finally ousted Brown, I asked Brown for a refund of their excessive, petty and clearly incorrect fines assessed to me by Lori Bayless, head Brown Nazi. What a shock - complete silence from Brown. Admit it Brown, you launched a terrorist attack on me, personally, to the tune of $2,000 in fees and fines. None of them were justified. What used to be a beautiful, quiet, compliant community for 25 years, has, in just a few months, become a ghetto. Thanks to this incompetent, ignorant and corrupt organization. They have blatantly allowed so many violations, it would take an entire manuscript to list them. They have been absolutely defiant, inept and insulting to those of us who have brought up numerous, consistent complaints, sent photos, videos and every imaginable proof of the many CC&R violations to them, and they do nothing. What they do is to insult, berate and threaten those who submit complaints, in fact, one neighbor was told by their so-called 'manager' Samantha that they would be facing legal action if they did not desist from sending complaints. Absolutely toxic. We are sick and tired of complaining about a nightmare of a person who has moved into our neighborhood, someone who is a petulant, entitled individual who thinks he can run an industrial business park on our street. He happens, of course, to be on the board, and now feels empowered to have a welding business in his garage, where he constantly grinds, welds, piles up metal junk on his driveway as if no one can touch him. The sparks have reached the neighbor's tree torching its branches. He has also parked his unsightly collection of junk and 'toys' in plain view (boat, large RV) making our street look like a dumpster. Did I also mention his numerous employees who dress up on the street in their welding uniforms? He has violated so many of our strict rules and neither Brown or the HOA do anything about it. It is criminal. We are losing a wonderful neighbor because he has been bullied and threatened and can no longer live in peace here. Our neighborhood has been destroyed by Brown and their cohorts in the HOA, good people are leaving and those of us who have been here for decades have to tolerate this? I don't think so. I cannot wait to get their usual 'we are concerned about your comments and would like to further discuss..blah blah blah..' The hipocrisy is surreal, enabling the corruption and, you, Mr.Brown, know it well, after several of us have brought these issues to your attention and my husband even wasted his valuable time in a personal 'meeting' with you and the incompetent HOA. As a resident of Aire in Scottsdale, I've been consistently disappointed with the management provided by Brown Community Management, particularly by our latest property manager, Danielle Genualdi. Her performance has fallen well below expectations for a community of this caliber. Communication is severely lacking. Residents are often left in the dark, with infrequent updates via email, text, or the community portal. Important information is rarely shared in a timely or proactive manner, leaving us guessing about the status of ongoing issues. Work orders are delayed or inadequately handled. Whether it's malfunctioning entry/exit gates, persistent landscaping problems, broken landscape lighting, parking concerns, or plumbing issues in the community bathroom, the response from management has been consistently slow and insufficient. These are not minor inconveniences--they impact the daily quality of life in our community. Perhaps most frustrating of all is the lack of follow-up or response to resident emails. Multiple residents have reported reaching out with concerns or questions and receiving no acknowledgment, let alone a resolution. This lack of responsiveness demonstrates a disregard for the community's needs and concerns. Overall, the property management has not met the basic standards of communication, maintenance, or accountability. I hope Brown Community Management seriously reevaluates its approach--or assigns a more capable and responsive manager to Aire. read more

I have nothing but praise for Lori Bayless and all of the Brown Management team at Optima Biltmore Towers. They have been, and continue to be, excellent in serving our entire community with the highest degree of professionalism, respect, and outstanding dedication. Through the years they have unfailingly been responsive to any and all concerns I have had. On top of that, I've found each and every one of the Brown team to be just plain nice people....makes a difference. On Easter Sunday, April 2020, I had a major flood in my 8th floor unit  resulting in damage all the way to the ground floor. Mind you, the entire country shut down on Mach 17 due to covid. Upon notification of the flood, Lori herself came in immediately (again, on Easter Sunday!!) and began the monumental task of marshaling the myriad of various professionals skilled in dealing with such emergencies, all compounded by the covid shut down; i.e. insurance people who wouldn't even come in to see the damage. Repair took days, weeks, months. It was Lori and her team who were frontline, juggling all the necessary balls and doing a superb job dealing with the restoration. I can't tell you how grateful I am for having had such a wonderful team on my side. read more

Hire criminals to clean the hallways. Lilli and Rosceo $150 working on company time to clean apartments. On Feb 7 as they were cleaning the pair were putting my valuables in a trash bag to sort it out later. They couldn't get my violin off the hook but the broke it by pulling it. It can be viewed at Valley Violins in Scottsdale AZ . The criminals won't investigate unless the police have fingerprints. Mr. Ramiro Wong is a do nothing idiot who shelters criminals. You don't screen your employees. They should all have Sheriffs Dept fingerprint clearance cards cards before they can work in our building. He has allowed his cleaning staff to have access to the computer. They have retaliated for my police call by my deleting an insurance certificate that I am required by the HOA to have access to my home. I will be shut out of my home during one of the hottest weeks of the year. My property is Landmark Tower Timothy Black 5c Just in case I am a 68 year white old man recovering from prostate cancer. Customer Focused: I received a collection due from Brown Community Management for a rental property I rent out. Knowing that I have auto-pay since Brown Management took over in June, and that I had automatic check writing from my bank, I was puzzled. I wrote an email to Valarie Schonely, the Brown representative. After the thanksgiving holiday, she promptly replied, from back and forth exchange of information, we identified the missing payment month. With support from my bank, I showed her that my check was cleared electronically by the previous property manager's office. She quickly went to get the bank record from the previous manager and found that the check was applied to the wrong unit. I was credited back the late charge promptly. Her diligence saved me a lot of anxiety and unnecessary dispute with the company. Thank you. Valarie! read more

We've all been angry with our HOA before, but I reached a point of contempt for this company that compelled me to call a lawyer. Brown demanded I paint the opposite side of the wall from my yard that faces a street. My original CC&R's showed they were. Tim Macchia said they had been legally updated forcing me to pay, insisted the paint came off because I had water from yard caused paint on the opposite side to peel. He asked if he could COME INTO MY YARD TO EXAMINE, I REFUSED. DIDN'T STOP TIM MACCHIA HE SENT SOME CROOK TO SNAP PICTURES OVER MY WALL. I considered this a violation of my privacy. Neighbors of Sossaman Estates when are you all going wake up and band together to kick these guys out of their contract!!! As a unit owner at One Lexington, I frequently have to leave my unit for extended periods of time to work on the east coast. I have complete piece of mind that my investment is being well taken care of and managed by Brown Community Management. They are meticulous, reliable, professional, and always go above and beyond the call of duty to take care of an owner's needs. I was especially impressed when Tonya, the community manager was willing to drop everything in the middle of the night without hesitating to drive from home and let me into the building when I lost my keys. That is an example of someone who cares not just about her job, but about each and every person she serves. I've been in my community since 2003 and I have always dreaded contacting the property management companies... #1 Because they would rarely get back to me and they really did not act like they truly cared, I always felt as if I was wasting their time. Honestly I just assumed every management company was similar as the years passed and these same frustrations continued. HOWEVER, today I contacted Brown Management regarding a bill with some "fines" I did not recognize... Our condo association contracted Brown Community Management Inc (BCMI) to handle oversight of the property in Scottsdale. Michele Lockhart is our contact person with BCMI, who I have spoken to on a number of issues that arose over the past year. On every occasion, dealing with Michele has been a pleasant, professional and a most effective experience. In my opinion she is extremely client focused and unbelievably efficient. All of my concerns have been met with an immediate email/phone response and dealt with quickly. Our community is lucky to have such a proficient and nice young lady to handle our affairs. I'm currently the President of my community's HOA. We've been using Brown since the builder transitioned power to the community. We had a rocky start but for the past 2.5 years, Brown has exceeded our expectations. One of the weakness in our community and board to active participation. Brown facilitates this and has adapted to our needs. They answer our questions, correspond with our residents and provide multiple bids for jobs we need completed. We had Sharon for a year and a half. She was the keystone we needed to stabilize our community after the builder transition. We now have Deb who seems work just as hard as Sharon did for us.
