He's been buying his grains, hops and yeast from Beer Grains since the time that they were only in Deep River and doing deliveries to the parking lot of the Clocktower Brew Pub on Bank Street like once a month. Then they opened up an actual store on Bank St, but that closed and now they are on Cremazie in Gatineau, QC. I accompanied him on his latest grain run and while I have zero interest in beer and beer making, I can say that the store was very nice. The person working there was friendly, and the store was well organized. In addition to actual beer making ingredients, they had books on brewing, equipment to make beer, and also accessories like those big wooden paddles that restaurants use to serve you beer flights. My husband says that the prices are reasonable and he's never had any issues in dealing with them. The store is in an industrial area. There's limited free parking on site.

I've wanted to go there for years, but never made it. What a shame I didn't go! It's a lovely place - big and inviting, with a lovely outdoor seating area (not today though, with the damp rain and cold). They have an inside area available for wine tastings for weddings. However, there were no tastings planned today, and now that they're closing, likely never again. No bottles are open now that they're closing. To celebrate their closing, Jabulani is offering what is left of their various wines at a discount. This is what enticed us today. I look forward to enjoying the wines we chose, and we wish the owners good luck in their retirement from Jabulani. Also good luck to the new owners, when they take over.

Upon arriving, they will give you a menu of their wines. You can select six to try for free. If you want food, you have to buy a bottle (they said it has to do with laws regarding serving food since they are not a restaurant). My favorites were the Frontenac Blanc, the MCM (a red wine on the lighter and fruitier side), and the Rose. This would be a great place to hold an event such as a wedding, but you would need to reserve a year ahead of time. They said they are already booked up for all of 2018!

The setting is beautiful, dining outdoors, wonderful service, great wine and delicious food! I had the shrimp, which were perfection, but so we're the vegetables! The most delicious and huge broccoli I may have ever had and the sweetest honey carrots! Everything was cooked to perfection and the wine was so good, we bought a bottle to take home! Only downside and I'll mention it now is that the homeless people tend to beg outside or on the odd occasion get caught stealing here. One my most recent visit they had a security guard positioned right at the entrance. Probably a good idea they have probably had a steady stream of issues. No disadvantaged people this visit. It's unfortunate that they have this issue but not everyone can handle booze well! The Vintages selection is seriously divine. I usually can spend around an hour here browsing and perusing the aisles to see what's new and what's recommended by the staff. They do have many vintage staples and an ever evolving selection. On my visit they did have some tastings and some mini pulled pork sandwiches. It was a nice snack while I was wandering around! I washed it down with a sample of Trius Red. Very nice contrasting flavours. What the LCBO and this location does amazingly better than my provincial SAQ is have a better selection of wines under $15. You can find hundreds of wines in the $13 or less amount. There is also a decent selection of wines under $10! You can find some decent tasting ones at this price also! SAQ needs to stop being so greedy! Also the LCBO has and does a fantastic job of promoting Ontario wineries! I'll keep coming back if the selection stays fantastic!

This store carries almost everything the other stores in town do. If I can't find something at this store, the one in the south end usually has it. Between these 2 stores I can find most things that I want. The staff is actually amazing in this store. I recently went in to get some liquer from Columbia. I tried to explain the name to the person working the counter who was in the middle of helping someone else (he asked if he could help and I told him to finish helping his current customer but he said it would take awhile) when he told me how how down I wanted to walk and what the bottle looked like! I followed his directions to find exactly what I wanted!
