John J. Sala Construction Corp. was hired to reconstruct and upgrade the home of a 90 year old…read morewidow. This project touched major parts of the house, including all interior walls, hardwood floor, siding, deck and roof. Every single part of this project was left incomplete or damaged when John and his son Jay abandoned the project in April 2019. We had several contracts with them, for example for a new air conditioning system, replacing the basement floor, etc. When the work was nearing completion, John came and demanded more money, and we set up a payment schedule for the remainder of our contract and paid him for some additional work, removing the hot water heating system covers in all the rooms, so they could be replaced. Following a partial payment for this action, the company damaged the heating system and abandoned the project. This was a major project in the 100,000 range, for which we had paid all but the last 3,000 or so. The company did not file permits correctly or complete most of the work. We do not recommend.

There was not one item that I wanted fixed, painted, adjusted, replaced or rewired that they couldn't handle. Eduardo's painting and repair of my walls was impeccable. Clean lines and not a drop on my news carpet and floors. They showed up on time and got the work done and COMPLETELY cleaned up every spec when they were finished. I thought the pricing was very fair as well. My family and friends just couldn't believe the transformation of my home. I am so happy with everything and wouldn't hesitate to have First Call, Carl and Eduardo back again and I'm planning on it already.

His clever mind and background in engineering came in handy, especially when attaching our existing roof to the new roof. We will be hiring him again for sure as we have a few other smaller construction projects in the near future. In fact he and his worker, just put in new support posts for our front porch within a few short hours. They worked fast and neatly, clean-up for both projects went well. Thanks again!

I hired Toro home remodeling to complete the task of adding shelves to my entry closet and my…read morelaundry closet and changing out both doors. They were also tasked to create a "box wall" to create more room to push my dryer back so that way the doors can close because I had an issue closing them. This box wall didn't happen because Louis said he didnt have to do that. He should have communicated that to me and reduced the cost that he charged. He felt that by getting rid of the garbage would even out this task which is some thing that should have been written in the contract to begin with. I tasked them with fixing strike plates for a few of my doors in my home and he also fix a partial door frame( which wasn't in the contract but it was done) . He also wrote in the contract that he was going to reinstall gas pipe line (that didn't happen either)The day he supposedly finished the work he wanted to collect his final payment in which he is rightfully so. However I needed to inspect the work being done. He charged me a total of $2025 for my laundry closet and I honestly didn't like the quality work provided. My brother paid him the final balance and he never fixed what he was suppose to fix before final payment. His worker only painted the closet over and cleaned the messed they wanted to leave behind. Before starting Louis told me to send a picture of how I want my laundry closet to look I should have listened but I explained to him to freestyle. My biggest mistake. Please tell me if this closet is worth $2,025. The day of collecting his balance they pulled out my washer and dryer to clean after showing them the mess one of the workers left and unfortunately I tried washing clothes later that night and my brand new washer does not work. I contacted him to find out what happened so I can fix my washer and no answer. I would not recommend this company AT ALL: I believed he took advantage of a single parent female by overcharging me for sloppy work.

Jon's attention to detail is amazing, his craftsmanship is precise and his eye for detail is spot on. A perfect example of this was when Jon noticed that the color of the Trex decking was not uniform. He went back to the supplier several times to get new decking and made sure that the color and shade was identical. From the very beginning, when we were discussing plans, to designing the deck and arranging for all the permits Jon was wonderful. He took care of all those details, made changes that we requested, gave us new updates on prices and best of all communicated with us every step of the way. Jon always answered phone calls and texts and made us feel very confident that we could rely on him to do the job. We absolutely love our beautiful new deck and we would recommend Jon without hesitation!!

My husband and I were contemplating a modest pool house late last winter and decided to have our…read moretrusted contractor provide us an approximate cost. With the skyrocketing cost of building materials this year, he was apologetic about not being about to get the project within a reasonable budget. Enter Barn Yard. As luck would have it, the perfect size building was available right on the lot in Bethel! Within a few weeks, the site was prepped. The house was delivered 10 days later. I can't say enough about the help we received every step along the way. But the real shocker was the skill with which the pool house was carried from driveway to pool. Andy and Joe operated a machine called a mule to direct the move. This avoided the use of a heavy truck on the lawn. Though it added a little more to the cost, the savings to electrical and septic lines was more than a fair compromise. We are thrilled. The fan and additional lighting is being installed today. We will finally have shade by the pool!
