I have always wanted to have a lot of piercings and I have been on such pursuit for a long time (almost a decade to be exact). The amount of money, time and effort I've invested to accomplish this is kind of ridiculous, but I just love them. In this pursuit, I discovered that apparently Tulsa has a shortage of piercers. After going to two different places who all lost their piercers to other professions, I ended up at Brookside Tattoo. Highly recommend! The place is super cool and clean (particularly throughout the pandemic). They are attentive, friendly and will go above and beyond to take care of you. I lost count of how many times I've been here regarding piercing issues (swelling, redness, etc.). Each time, they'd inspect it carefully and make recommendations accordingly even though this was not where I got my piercings originally (I got them while I was traveling). Sometimes they even refused payment just to look at it but I still left a tip to compensate them for their time. There's a convenient ATM inside in case you don't have cash. Tracy in particular was super helpful and even went as far as giving me their direct phone number in case of emergency (yes, my piercings are stubborn and demand that kind of attention like that). Brookside Body Piiercing & Tattoo botched my daughter's right ear twice and now she is scared to go back to get her ears pieced anywhere. The first time, the guy talked way too much and nerved her out by talking about how it will hurt but just for a second, and she can't jump so she doesn't get poked in her neck with the needle, like way too many times. She started shaking her legs and then HE started shaking and he told me she was too nervous for him to be comfortable. Even though no piercing happened, there are no refunds. We had to come back with the original paperwork in hand. We came back and my daughter did great. He barely talked this time, pretty much only telling her what he was doing and didn't tell her what could go wrong if "this" and "that" again. The right ear was crooked, the left was perfect. The front hole was in the right spot but it was like he swiped through and it almost went out the outer edge of her earlobe. We were told to wait for it to heal for a month and come back. Plus they used the wrong earrings without telling us her selection was out of stock. Now the ones she did not want were "used" and we would have to pay $60 to get the ones she wanted. We waited a month plus a week. Today was the day. I forgot the other earring and they first wanted to charge me $30 for the single earring. They did agree remove the one from her left ear and clean it for use in her new right ear piercing to save me the trip, BUT..... This time she bled and the back hole is almost all the way to her head. It was a different person, a woman, this time. You can see the first hole on the right and the second on the left. Like last time, I couldn't see the angle while she was seated on the table at my eye level but only after we left and she was standing below me I could see the angle from above. I decided not to go back. The money is lost and they clearly don't care who they hurt or doing things right. My girl is traumatized by this experience. After this she wanted to remove her left earring and wait until she is a grown-up to get them done. Go where you want, but know this is how we were treated at Brookside Body Piercing & Tattoo. They have quite a racket with the no refund policy and earring swap. read more

I got a really cool tattoo by Doyle. I had to make reservations several weeks out, which is a good thing! If there is no wait-list, then one has to wonder. I texted the art work to the shop, and they gave me a very reasonable estimate. Actually I would have gladly paid more -- which I actually did through the tip. Absolutely wonderful and sweet staff. Were extremely accommodating. I got my ears pierced there and I have a thing with needles and they walked me through it and it barely hurt. my pieces was really rude towards me (i came in an hour before close) so i understand wanting to leave and everything but still, i went in for a double helix and she absolutely messed it up. the top piercing is placed in the middle of my ear like not even the edge, so a hoop won't fit through it. she was also so passive aggressive and quite obviously profiled me, decided she didn't like me, and then screwed my piercings up really bad and was just so rude the entire time. i've been powdered before at different places and the whole time they were so loving ams supportive, but this girl (i forgot her name). it's unfortunate beceausr i've gone there twice before but i can 100% say i will not be going back. Just saying, make sure your employees aren't profiling customers and treat everybody the same, because that is not happened with me. read more

Unprofessional, go to karma body modifications, brookside doesn't know what they're doing. I got my daith pierced about 5 months ago they (brookside) told me to clean it with salt water which infected it and the metal grade they use isn't proper, i got the jewelry changed about a week ago and the redness, swelling and irritation bumps are finally going away. The workers at karma body modifications told me that my daith was also pierced improperly but it wasn't going to cause any major problems, they just pierced it crooked. Not going back! read more

I came down to Tulsa for the weekend to see my family and thought it would be a great time for me and my father to get a certain small tattoo together that we've been talking about for quite a long time, nothing super complicated, just some roman numerals... I have been tattooed around the country by some of the foremost tattoo artists and studios, I have had extensive work done all over my body and my skin speaks for itself.. We ask if there is time to get this done and the shop assistant says that they could do it that same day at 7, cool. She then asks us specifically what we want, my father was going to do VII (7) and I was going to XIV (14); she comes back from her computer and literally typed out the numerals in times new roman on MS Word; I asked her if we could have the tattoo artist stylize it or actually put some art into it and she says "that's what roman numerals are," no thanks, I'd rather die before times new roman or Helvetica goes on my arm. And also, don't patronize me, I know what roman numerals are.... I then asked if the tattoo "artist" could stylize it in their own style, their own take on it. She replied that they don't do that, WTF?! From High voltage tattoo to Rock of Ages tattoo, I have NEVER experienced an artist not putting their style into a tattoo; I'm not into flash art folks.... I then asked if I could call my friend and have him draw them up super quick and send it over, she said that they couldn't do that either.. WTF again! We walked out. Maybe I just had a bad experience, but this shop was far from "nice" as all the reviews describe.. We'll have one done proper when my father comes out to see me as this was a joke to me today... I'm sorry, I wanted to get down with you guys but your assistant needs to learn about art and tattoo culture, and judging by what she had done on her body and her attitude, she is the last person I'd have advising customers about tattoos.... In December I went into Brookside for a vertical labret. I was able to walk in and get it done no problem. Jonathan is the owner and one of the piercers, he did an amazing job. He was super professional, super attentive and even very patient when I was unsure about placement. The vibe of the shop is professional laid back. You can tell they treat all their customers well- whether you're a first timer or a regular. The shop is immaculately clean and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm so glad that I have found a shop that will do well to my standards!!! I will be going back for more piercings and for tattoos. TERRIBLE customer service! We called and asked if we needed an appointment. Girl named "Moose" said "No, we are open until 10pm, just come in and we can get it done tonight". All I wanted was a 3 inch cross. Simple. I got there 20 min later. There were 5 people in the waiting room when we got there. AFTER filling out paperwork and sending them a picture of a simple cross, the girl said they cannot see us tonight. WHAT? I explained that we called...she said to make an appointment for Saturday. Whilst visiting Tulsa, and too much alone time- decided to pop-in and get a certain tattoo I've been wanting to add to collection (a portrait of Oprah) Jesse is the man. Brookside is the best shop in Tulsa, bar none. They are extremely professional, and will answer any and all concerns of their customers. They are the only shop that, when I called around looking to get an anti-eyebrow, actually asked me if I knew about the complications AND knew that they would need to use surgical tubing NOT metal to do the piercing. Also, when my nose ring popped out and was out overnight, Jonathan told me I could come in and he would put it back in if he could, free of charge. He was able to do it, and I was pretty impressed as I'd been trying to do it for about two hours. Lastly, everyone I know who has had healthy, good piercing experiences has gone here. So it's been about two months since I got my tattoo here, with Jonathan. Like I said in the other review, they are great about follow up! I called and set up an appointment to come in and when I got there, Jonathan and I looked over what needed to be done. There was a spot where the skin had scabbed during healing and I lost some color, and there were some lines I wanted touched up. It only took a few minutes to talk this over (it's not a large tattoo) and we got started. As I said before, Jonathan is very personable and it was easy chatting with him while he worked. He was efficient and clean throughout the process. The best part is that these touch ups that they do are part of the price I paid for the tattoo initially. That's how much they stand behind their work!! I really don't see myself going anywhere else if/when I get my next one done. read more

I went in for a second lobe piercing in June. When I went in to pick the jewelry I expressed concern for the length of the bars. I know I need longer bars for my weird thick earlobes. The piercer assured me it would be fine and if I need longer bars I could come back in. A month and a half go by and they are still not healing properly. They were very tender and weeping. I took them out and the piercing felt hard and pus came out. I was freaked out and realized they were being pinched by the short bars. So I came back in to have them look at it and get longer bars. The piercer "Demi" was in and I told her what was going on, she took one look at it and said it was just a "friction bump" that worried me because I don't know any friction bumps that make both earlobes turn swollen and pusy. I asked her if I could get longer bars and she said I would have to pay $20 for new long bars because it had been over a a few weeks. Usually just "metal" bars aren't that expensive and I'm not ignorant when it comes to piercings. On top of having to leave a piercer defeated and in pain, a few weeks later and my ears are still not healed. They have actually gotten worse. This has been a hell piercing for me and one of my worst. In all, if she would've listened to me in the beginning or helped me like she said she would I wouldn't have an extremely swollen ear and $80+ down the drain because I now fear I can't even keep the piercing. I'm not even a soccer mom who wants to waste people's time with reviews, I manage a store and get reviews daily so I understand this can be perceived as "annoying" Hopefully this store reads this or other customers looking to be "helped" by them. If you do get your ears pierced and have problems your best bet is to not contact the piercer "Demi" because she will not help you after she gets your money. Really. Be careful going here. read more

I foster and attempted to use Brookside Body Piercings like a couple of people here suggested above and had an AWFUL experience! They asked for birth certificate and as I discreetly tried to explain I don't have that but have foster paperwork they then had a second lady come out to also tell me they'd only take birth certificates. There was a lobby full of people listening to me try to quietly explain that I don't have access to that as a foster parent. They kept trying to tell me they needed a "legal" document as if paperwork from DHS wasn't legal and I wasn't his guardian. We were supposed to be celebrating his graduation with getting his ears pierced and instead ended up having to tell a lobby full of people he was in foster care and being turned away from getting the piercing too. It was humiliating for him and once again he was singled out for being a foster kid. I can not emphasize enough how awful it was dealing with Brookside Body Piercings, please don't use a shop that does this kind of thing! read more

I agree with the previous review! I had piercings done a couple of years ago and they were very professional, courteous and clean. They send you home with a careful explanation of how to properly care for the piercing and printed instructions as well as the materials needed. I went in a couple of weeks ago due to upcoming surgery. They removed my piercings and inserted plastic (surgery safe) spacers for me and told me they'd be happy to replace my jewelry for me when I came back afterwards.
