First and foremost, ZERO I came in to this office after having a blunt forced trauma to my face and had stated clearly that I had been in and was in and now am endearing more pain than ever . After my initial appointment in October 2022 I have tried contacting them for a follow up appointment and have been unable to get in touch with anyone until recently.. here is my story. I had expressed that I had been clenching due to the pain in my face. I was nervous that my teeth were going to be suffering from this. . They went through the full routine of x-rays and measuring my gum lines, and as they were measuring my gum lines in the back top two molars, she jammed her equipment deep into my gum, I jerked back and made a noise making it clear that it was a little too pressure for me. She ultimately made my gums bleed, and it was very painful. After I pulled away she stated the number eight. Which was the number of the pocket that I'm finding out today from a new dentist. She said you were an 8 then and she didn't give you a referral ? I have to have two perfectly fine molars pulled now due to periodontal defect that she never addressed two years ago. I have to have them pulled and studs put in and mind you this will now be out of pocket two fake teeth added to the posts.. during the time between the two years, I constantly was contacting them leaving them messages leaving them text messages and E mails only to get a sassy response 4 weeks ago stating they don't return phone calls on Wednesdays or Fridays and that I left a message on several Fridays and that's why they never got back to me. What the hell does that really mean? Obviously I'm making an attempt to figure out what this number eight meant. And get my deep cleaning. I was supposed to get a deep cleaning. Never happened. They never did it. I'm highly infuriated. I feel that this could've been prevented, and where she jammed her piece of equipment and screamed out the number eight to her assistant clearly tells me that the problem was there now it's a size 10 I don't know any of this shit or what the numbers meant, why would I have any clue of what she's talking about and how severe this issue was I'm not a fucking dentist!!! So good job, sweetheart. I hope everyone reads this and takes their mouth to somebody else. These people do not give a shit. Their facilities are dirty. There's one woman and I believe she's been overcharging my insurance, and I will get to the bottom of this. She best hope she hasn't fraudulently charged me for anything cause I'm gonna be up her ass with the board of Better Business Bureau. read more

DO NOT VISIT!!! BEWARE! First time ever reviewing a business like this and that is because my experience was so negative. Nobody in south lake tahoe take dentical, so I was driving from South Lake Tahoe. My last dentist said I had 3 cavities and had the xrays showing where they were located. I told them this and they said they could fit in at least one or two cavity fillings on this visit. Upon arriving as a new patient they take the xrays and leave me waiting for over and hour. The doctor then comes in and said that the technician took the xrays wrong so they need to redo them.. so we do that and I wait another hour. She said she would measure my gum lines in the meantime, during this she was overly aggressive with abruptly pulling open my mouth or throwing her tools down on my chest after using them.. It was truly a strange experience for a dentist office. The doctor then comes in for the second time and says, " you not know how to close mouth all the way huh?!" And then says were done. I guess the pictures didnt come out good again, and let me just say this is the first time in my whole life I had to have xrays retaken. This is now 3 hours into my visit and I have not had my teeth cleaned or any fillings done.. And she just starts to walk out of the room, without even telling me what we were going to do, or what the xrays showed. I had to stop her and ask her If she noticed anything from the xrays even though they didnt come out fully and she just says "you might have one cavity" and leaves. So in all they wasted about 6 hours of my life that day in travel time. They are THE WORST! read more

Dr. Ngu and staff are amazing and truly care about their patients.. I hadn't been to a dentist years and am fortunate to have a pretty healthy set of chompers lol. I read the reviews and was a litlle nervous but The brookside dental team got me in quick and took care of a wisdom tooth that was through and impacting other teeth dr. I know everyone always says if I could leave no stars I would but this is an instance that I would. Dr left my kid sitting numb for an hour and a half go through a filling and two teeth being pulled in one sitting and mine you is only 8. Yelled at my kid cause my kid was saying ouch due to being able to feel the second tooth being pulled. The only one who had decent work ethic in there was literally the dental assistant. I've never had such a horrific experience with a dentist in all my sixty years. Dr Gno, as in "NO-way-I'll-ever-go-back!" was rude, condescending, unprofessional and I'll-mannered. I walked out feeling like I'd been insulted, for what I am not clear on, and then rejected because my, "insurance wasn't a very good policy", quoting her assistant. Not only would she not clean my teeth or even schedule a follow-up appt to do so, she said I needed nine (9!) crowns, and that she wouldn't see me again until I went to see a prosthodontist, stating this would probably cost me an out-of-pocket expense of $40-50K. As a side note, she may have vision issues, which aided in my lack of confidence in her assessment. When asking me about my 'asthma', I looked over her shoulder and let her know the word she couldn't see on my chart was 'anemia'. For the examination she put jeweler's or watchmaker's glasses over her own glasses. Will I be going back? GNO-way!!! And if I could've left zero stars I absolutely would have. read more

I've been going here for years and have always been treated professionally. I've had crowns, bridges as well as regular cleanings done. They have explained my insurance coverage as well as my out of pocket expenses. When my grandson was approx. 5/ 6 and needed work done, they referred me to a child's dentist office. They explained that the other office was better equipped for his needs. They also worked with my son and I when he had no insurance, again keeping our out of pocket expenses in mind. SF read more

MediCal lists this as one of two dental offices in the county that accepts DentiCal. Some years back, when my son had good insurance, he was a patient here. A tooth went bad on a Friday night but their on-call emergency dentist said he couldn't prescribe antibiotics on the weekend (wtf) and instructed my son to see him Monday am. By Monday, the abscess had burst. I called to make an appt, explained I was instructed to do so by the dentist and that my son was bleeding. "There is no appt available today", she said, twice. I drove him there, walked him bleeding into the office and demanded the dentist see him. The dentist explained there was nothing he could do since the abscess had burst (another wtf). Two days later, my son was in the hospital on IV antibiotics and morphine. He spent Christmas week at Marshall and it was touch and go whether he would live as the massive infection had spread down into his throat and jaw. There never was an apology for this terrible care, only a letter stating that their attorneys determined I couldn't sue them. I reported them to all the agencies I could think of. It is a pity that they are still in business, still up to their old tricks, and are one of only two providers of dental care for poor folks in the county. read more

Just like the old cliche, you never know how good your insurance is until you really need it and that's especially true when it comes to healthcare providers! This is to note a time a little while back that I needed a dentist when it was after hours on a holiday, no less, and I am happy to report that Dr. Ngo opened her office and treated my tooth and had everything under control in no time at all when I assumed the most that could be done for me was to go in first thing next morning. When she was finished ,it didn't seem like saying 'thank you' really covered everything she did on her day off to make sure a patient of hers would get treatment when he needed it, but for everyone she has treated over the years I think she knows how we all feel!! read more

Omg this place is horrible and dishonest. I suffered so badly, it took them over two hours to pull one tooth and when they did, it had a huge chunk of my flesh attached. The "doc" said it was because my tooth root was curved.....ya which you can CLEARLY SEE IN THE EXRAY!!!! I should have been referred to a surgeon, but instead they dug in my face!!!! I went home and vomited for hours and was in excruciatingly awful pain. On top of that ....the lied to me about the billing and I have now been over charged almost $1000! I have been to lots of dentist and have never dealt with such unprofessional behavior ever. When I called about the bill, they only called me back when I filed a dispute and the office manager (Carol) strait up lied to me, was very rude. ...laughed at me, and I finally had enough and hung up. AVOID!!!! I'm turning them in for all my pain and suffering. I am now working with another dentist that advised me to file a formal complaint, which i am doing. Find a good dentist, there's lots of them out there. This isn't one of them. Oh.... btw I'm pretty sure, the "doc" didn't change gloves between me and another patient. I was there just recently and the lady who talked to me about extra costs above my insurance coverage (Carole) was rude, blunt and cold. She did a very poor job explaining costs and options. I came back at my appointed time and they asked for an exorbitant amount of money up front. I didn't have it and they sent me away. They are charging me $300 for a "missed appointment". When I walked out I said I would not be back. The VERY FIRST BILL that they sent me was marked "delinquent". This office smacks of dysfunction and greed. read more

Stay away from this dental office. I have Delta Dental HMO insurance. I went in for an exam and X-rays. After the exam they told be that I needed 4 crowns, 1 filling along with a medicated rinse treatment. The estimate was $4500. I took the X-rays to another dentist that had treated me before when I had a PPO insurance. I paid him out of my pocket for a 2nd opinion to see if I needed all this work done. The second dentist told me that my teeth were fine and didn't need all that work that was quoted by Brookside Dental. He said that all I really needed was a cleaning. This Dental Office attempted to rip me off for $4500. Take my recommendation and STAY AWAY from Brookside Dental. read more

I have been a patient with Dr. Ngo for over 5 years now and wouldn't dream about going to a different dentist. She is so sweet and really treats you like family. She is very personable, remembering detailed conversations had in previous visits. Her work is very gentle and actually lasts! About 5 years ago I had an extensive amount of work to be done including a root canal and 2 crowns among all the cavities. Dr. Ngo also took the time to replace all of my silver fillings (from a previous dentist) with the white fillings and now the inside of my mouth looks normal and amazing! Still to this day, all the work Dr. Ngo did has held strong with no issues and THAT is what really matters!!! One of the things that sets this dentist office apart from others is Carol. She will bring you into her office and break down into detail all of the work and costs so you know exactly what you are paying for and what they will be working on each visit. She patiently answered all of the questions I had. I have NEVER had that kind of special treatment in any other dentist office. I have had some pretty terrible experiences with dentists in the past and used to hate going to the dentist. Not anymore! I highly recommend Brookside Dental. My husband and I purchased a Dental Dental Policy thru Costco and Delta assigned us to this dentist. We made an appointment to have our teeth cleaned and when we arrived we were told we were not having a tooth cleaning but an exam and we would have to come back. (We had driven an hours drive to get there) After the exam the office manager sat down with us and gave us estimates for repair of approx. 5000.00 each and we were told they wouldnt clean our teeth until we had a peridontal cleaning first (1300.00 to 1400.00) The amounts for service were either not listed in the fee book provided by delta or way over the amount. I would not recommend this dentist, I am returning to my prior dentist and will be paying the same or less without insurance. read more

I went to this dentist for the first time to get a simple cleaning and schedule a future appointment for any further work that needed to be done. After I checked in with the receptionist and was escorted from the waiting room, I told the woman who was about to take my x-rays that the last time I saw a dentist was about 6 months ago. That dentist told me I needed to replace some old fillings. She then told me that she would not be able to see me because my insurance didn't cover fillings, but fillings are covered under my insurance. She said she wouldn't help me unless I had an "actual problem." I then asked her, "So if I told you that my teeth are going to rot if I don't get new fillings, only then would you help me?" She then called me a liar and a hypocrite because she said I only told her I was there for a cleaning and check up. She then grabbed my unfinished new patient paperwork and told me to leave. I was absolutely shocked at how rude and unprofessional this woman was. She gave false information about my insurance coverage, perhaps knowingly or maybe out of ignorance. I made an appointment 3 weeks in advance. They charged 25.00 for an emergency appointment. I contacted insurance and they stated Brookside Dental was wrong. The dental practice also refused to do a procedure they said was not covered and Delta dental said was a covered procedure. They deserve negative stars, not even one little star. The doctor has horrible bedside manner! I went because that was who insurance put on my card. I have a beautiful, well taken care of smile! I went in and was told I had horrible insurance, that I needed $4000 in treatment! All I wanted was to get my teeth cleaned and they never even did that after having me in their office for 2 hours! I switched dentists that week! And now they are trying to scam the insurance & or me for the appointment. They are rude and can not even send me copies of my paperwork I filled out or a copy of the bogus treatment plan! I have called 4 x's requesting this info. They have sent me a bill every single day. I finally decided to pay to make them go away and that same day. I received an EOB from my insurance stating that they had paid the dentist office for the exact amount they are trying to get me to pay. they are also trying to tell me that I owe $150 for a missed appointment. Made appointment for 2 year old foster child.I was assured Dr. Gno treats young children.When I got there the staff and Dr. Gno was only concerned about getting paid by the state.I was very concerned about the child's hesitance to chew with his back teeth and sometimes swallowing food whole and gagging. Dr. Gno should not be allowed near children.She refused to examine him because he started to cry. She said' I have other patients waiting and don't want them to hear him cry. I won't do it." By other patients I assume she meant 'paying patients.' I drove 90 mins (both ways) and waited several weeks for this appointment. I went there desperate for some answers.I pleaded with her to take a quick look to see if something was bothering him and preventing him from chewing properly. She dismissed us.She scared him with her lack of social skills.She showed him a sticker and said in a very mean voice 'you can't have this sticker until you open your mouth.' They billed medical anyway. Now have to wait another 6 months for his insurance to pay for another exam. I am contacting medical.This is so wrong on so many levels. read more
