Absolutely the WORST customer service. I simply asked a question and got told "not my department". Well you don't get any of my money then.

Their discounts are great (on food, drinks, and all). In general I always find everything well sorted and at reach. I'd say they have almost everything I need, and being a kitchen enthusiast, I love their spice section. The ambiance is usually chill and easy to navigate through, people in the aisles are usually very knowledgeable of where things are. The service is usually good, but there have been times where I've felt discriminated against, like, this one time at the self check out when I was speaking Spanish on the phone and this lady shows up out of nowhere to ask me "please scan the water". (I always use the self checkout, but curiously enough, the day I was speaking Spanish they ask me to scan everything)... I wasn't even done scanning, but meh... maybe it's just some bad apples. I felt cheated out of money when visiting Brookshire's. Firstly their prices are way more than anywhere else in Brownwood (I would dare say Walgreens is cheaper...), and when you do see an item (e.g. Strawberries) with a big red sale ticket on it, Brookshire's do not honor their prices advertised. When questioning why the item does not scan correctly, I am asked if I have a loyalty card. Where on these sales tickets is the big text that states one must have loyalty to get the sale price advertised. I think you're cheating people out of their money as it is without not honoring your sales prices. Definitely not a place I would go out of my way for! read more

Brownwood, Tx location here. It's sad to see the previous 1 star ratings all because of personal beliefs on masks. Sure, a mask isn't a be all save all, but it has reduced chance of spreading from a sick person to someone who might be at risk. It's more effective than covering your mouth with your hand should you cough or sneeze, because then people just start touching everything spreading it further. As for the store itself. They take the time to know customers by name and are very friendly. I have been a long time shopper between the local Walmart, Aldi, United Supermarkets and Brookshires. My favorite being Brookshires because of the employees themselves make it inviting. I can't say much about the evening shift, as I shop during the day, but I imagine people are just ready to go home at that point. read more

Store manager is a joke he trys to be a hard ass on mask wearing while he is there. But when he goes home they don't say a word to you about wearing one. Maybe he don't want to spend the money on labor then again maybe he could just careless read more

This store apparently changed management in 2017 and also made a MAJOR policy shift in which prices dropped considerably, in some cases lower than WalMart, while at the same time quality noticeably improved. Brookshire's was always good but a bit pricey. Now it doesn't seem like the same store. I sometimes make the 90 mile round trip drive from Brady, TX, to shop there instead of at the local WalMart or Lowes. ... It's gotten that good. I just hope they can keep it up. . read more

Brookshire's is a well run, clean, small town grocery store with an above average selection of items, good prices and a friendly staff. For such a small store they also have a very nice deli, with an adequate selection of hot and cold food items(the fried chicken is tasty), as well as pastries, dessert items, cakes and pies. I shop here regularly for most of my grocery items, with the exception of my fresh meat, which I mostly get down the road from the butcher at Kings. My only negative comment isn't something that directly affects the customer, but should be mentioned nonetheless. Unless you say "no thanks", Brookshire's always provides one of their employees to take your groceries out to the car and load them, which is a rarely found and very nice service indeed. My complaint, comes from the fact that they don't allow their employees to accept tips, which is traditional when the person does a good job, and Brookshire's employees always do a good job. I feel that tipping is something I have a right to do and the employee should have the right to accept for a job well done, but management won't allow it and that is a shame. I hope management decides to change this policy soon. read more

While doing self-check; an item rang up for the wrong amount. When I got the attention of a worker who was standing less than 2 feet away from me gossiping with a co-worker; she walks over to me demonstrating disrespectful attitude and very negative energy as she asked me in a loud irritated tone of voice; "Well, what price was it supposed to ring up?" I advised her of the price on the item. While taking an exasperated sigh, she took the item from my hand and asked me, "Did you ring it up right?" A clerk from across the store overheard her and took over assisting me. **She was professional, friendly and helpful** She advised me and the irritated clerk that someone forgot to take the old tag off when the sale price was placed on the item. I usually go to Brookshier's often. However, I must admit this experience has left a feeling that I don't even want to support this store anymore. read more
