We have been going to the Brookshire Brothers on Chestnut since we moved to Lufkin. The store is very clean and we enjoy the Deli foods especially the roasted Chicken. We drink alcohol-removed wine and we were glad that the wine shop was willing to order alcohol-removed wine for us since they do not stock it. Each month we order cases of wine from Jill in the wine shop. When we picked it up our wine each month, Jill would have to get a manager to approve the 15% case discount since the wine we ordered was not in the system. After doing this for three months, Jill informed me that Corporate Headquarters had decided that alcohol-free wine was a grocery item and was not eligible for the wine case discount. This decision stuck me as odd since the product is wine, it is produced and sold by Sutter home and although it is alcohol-free, is age-restricted for purchase. I feel that this arbitrary decision by Corporate staff is discriminatory to those of us who choose to consume wine without alcohol by only giving a discount to wine with alcoholic content. The decision seems quite contrary to the stated corporate goal of providing for the needs of the customer and the community. read more

This store is within 4 blocks from my house and I will drive across town to buy groceries other than going here ! I bought rotten meat here and they refuse to replace it , my wife bought water pitchers there when se got home they had big holes in it so I call the manager and he acted a ass on the phone with me ! avoid this place ! read more

Staff is so much friendlier at this location. Did notice a funky smell when I got in the store.

Today, (6-28-2016) my husband and I decided to stop by and order some chicken for our family. I decided on the very simple 12 piece chicken with free Hawaiian sweet roles and a gallon of sweet tea. I also ordered an extra package of rolls and some okra. The woman behind the deli counter informed me that I had to go to the back of the store for the tea, no problem. When I got back there, the shelf for the Milo's tea was completely empty. I feel that if you have a relatively popular meal deal going on, you should at least check the shelves and make sure they are stocked. I met a man who also ordered the same thing we did, so I informed him of the tea being sold out. When I went back to the front of the store to let them know about the tea, the woman behind the deli counter was very friendly and went and told the office. However, the manager was not as nice. She seemed aggravated that I was wanting the tea when it's the meal deal they have posted! I literally stood at the office for 15 minutes over something so simple as tea! When we got our food home it was just really disappointing.. The chicken and okra was stale and not good at all! On Sat. 7-28-18, I purchased family packs of poultry drumsticks, and thighs, they were spoiled and stinky, when I opened them, I called talked to manager Darryl, who told me he would check the date on the other packages in the case , I explained the meat was not out of date just spoiled. I asked if I could return not for money back just trade it for some fried chicken at deli, which would have cost less than I paid for the spoiled chicken. Darryl told me NO, that was not allowed, I said fine ill just return the spoiled meat you give me my money back and ill BUY the fried chicken,.,., you guessed right if you said that was not allowed either . I have shopped at BB for over 45 years , not another foot ill step into those bandits door. A customer buys rotten chicken from a grocer and they tell you sorry no refunds, are not long for this world, the customers will tell them one by one sorry no more purchases from me in your place . It is easy to understand why HEB was voted best supermarket for shoppers in 2017, best service , best quality, best prices....... It ant the same BB it was 20 years ago, they actually honored their catchy slogan "satisfaction guareented" back in the day , not today . read more
