Good old-school bar, Good food, Good people, Great music!…read more We love coming to The Morgan Inn for live music, especially rock and country. They have bands Thu-Sat, and jamming on Sun, and every other week it's open-mike on Wed! A few Saturdays ago, (Sep 2025), we got here at Morgan and Frederick just before the band started at 8 and lucked into one of the tables right up front. I'm guessing there's table seating for around 50, with around another 25 at the bar just to the side, and you can hear and see the band from there, too. There's a colorful fenced deck out back for another 40 or so, but the music might not reach. The wait staff is quick and attentive and friendly, and the drinks are strong. I got my usual jack and coke here, and we got a cranberry-vodka Cape Cod with a lime. They have all kinds of sandwiches, burgers, and salads, and we like the spinach salad because it's fresh with brightly flavored strawberries! Also sprinkled pecans and some crumbled feta cheese if you want. They are happy to adjust it as you like, so we say light on the feta plus a side of balsamic dressing :-). Zingy and tasty! I always always order something from their walleye-fish menu, on the wall by the bar if you dont see it in print. It's a light-flavored whitefish that's perfectly creamy and tender and bone-free, some of the best white fish there is! It's reminds me of whitefish i've had on the shores of the Chesapeake. I've had Morgan Inn's generous fried platter and generous sandwich, and this time we had dinner earlier so i saved room for their lightly-coated piping-hot crispy tender juicy six-or-so walleye bites. And another whiskey-coke from our fun waitress. We got a little blurry :-). We loved this evening's rowdy talented band, Noble Black (Karen, Dan, Gary, and Keith). Even though they play gigs all over the region, we hadn't heard this band before, and they really killed! Mostly hot classic rock, a few country classics, a few bluesy songs ones among those. They walked around with during the show with a live equalizer so there was good sound wherever we wandered! Each of the four musicians added some terrific licks of their own, and I dont know about you, but when the building starts to shake, we get up and dance! We gave their contact info to the place closest to where we live, hoping for an appearance there some time :-) A great evening of loud music, good food and drink, friendly staff, and good loud friendly folks :-) As always!

They had a pretty good live band playing and it was not super loud in the place. Their menu is pretty extensive and several positive comments were made about the cream of crab soup as well as their fish special. Portions are large and tasty. They have a full bar, unable to serve pretty much anything you asked for. We will definitely be coming back

I went to my second music concert in the DMV area at The Recher after meeting Chrystal of Anoxia at The Baltimore Soundstage and getting information about her My Phase Days concert in The Recher in May 2024. It was an amazing concert with many music artists paying homage to bands like Evanescence and Bring Me The Horizon. We saw a lot of local music artists in the Baltimore, Maryland area and started going to see their concerts in the DMV area. January 2025. We visited The Recher to see local music artists we were not familiar with except for one who played in the May 2024 My Phase Days concert. It was also a birthday concert for the Rapolla Entertainment's owner Nic. It was the music entertainment business that promoted both concerts we attended in The Recher. Parking is easy to find at The Recher and is free in the parking garages on the weekend. The Recher is a brief walk away from the parking garage nearby. The concert venue is mid size and very clean for a concert venue. Drink prices are fair. Sound quality is excellent. The music artists we met there are professional, passionate about their music, and amicable. The crowds there have always been easy to navigate and friendly. I enjoyed seeing the posters of well known music artists who performed in The Recher. Looking forward to coming there again. Cheers

This was a re-scheduled performance by acoustic roots band Charm City Junction, whose January gig was cancelled by a snow-ice-tornado-storm! Judging from the full house, everybody held on to their January tickets. We were all greatly rewarded. We come for the music, but also for the creative menu, and we arrived early to our assigned-seats so we could have our meal before the music. Their staff is quick, and we also used the QR-code menu to get a head start. We stayed with classics: a salad and a flatbread. The Caesar was fresh and crisp with a fairly-light amount of tangy dressing and fun flat croutons. The non-cube crouton-shape is a surprise that cleverly matches their crunch closer to the crunchiness of the lettuce. The pizza was a clever flavorful shrimp and veggie creation, and we finished every bite. We had a tart craft beer from their varied list and a well-made French-75 from their creative cocktails, which included non-alcohol options, too. Caleb Stine opened, with great acoustic country-music originals, excellent guitar-playing, and his deep sonorous voice. But ask anyone, the most fun song was this one: "Something that can bring us all together. Something I believe in ... I'm eatin' butter, I'm eatin' cheese. I'm eatin' anything I please, No need to tell me the calories ... I'm eatin' butter." A whole song about Butter :-). Hilarious! After a full set by Caleb, the headline quartet Charm City Junction took the stage, showing off masterful skills on fiddle, clawhammer banjo, button accordion and upright bass. They played a really enjoyable mix of traditional roots, bluegrass, and Irish originals, often featuring whichever of the musician who composed a particular song. Some leaned toward band-supported solos, and some were rousing audience-engaging call-and-response, such as Boozy Suzy, from their Duckpin album. They reprised John Prine's "Please Dont Bury Me", from that same album, and played "I Ain't Gonna Work Tomorrow" from their newest album, Salt Box. We learned the traditional Irish "hup!" to shout when a musical phrase is just too great to hold quiet about! Many in the audience were pretty good at that, though i could not really land it. Several of the band members called out family in the audience, in fun friendly engaging real-time conversation that made us feel like family, too :-). We had a great evening! They made this cozy space feel like a backyard bluegrass roots jam. This space has great acoustics and a skilled sound-board. You choose assigned seats when you purchase the tickets to their performances, and i think they have first-come seating as some jams and game night. They offer so much! There's rock bands, R&B bands, pop, jazz, blues, local musicians, candlelight classical performances, sensory-enhancing "dining in the dark" experiences, brunches, a Mother's Day Soul / R&B sing-along, history spoken-word nights, a bookfair with bar, Motown music trivia, regular trivia, and even rentals of their venue. There's plenty of free parking, and a flat path from the parking garage across the street. It's a nice venue.

It's located right on the lake, which is beautiful. I came in by myself and was able to find some friendly people to talk to and sit with. The prices of the drinks and food were a bit high, I spent over $20 for one cocktail plus tip. The trivia experience was a bit confusing and over-complicated, but it wasn't a horrible experience either. If they had another event I was interested in going to, I would definitely come back, but maybe not in my regular rotation of places.

MY FRIEND GOT ROOFIED. MY FRIEND GOT ROOFIED. MY FRIEND GOT ROOFIED. There was also very clearly some operation happening outside where "homeless people" that were clearly just grifters kept getting sent to try and hassle people at the front door. I know for a fact that these people weren't actually homeless - as a homeless person wouldn't have left as soon as I looked them in the eye and called them a fake, they would've just called me an asshole and moved on about tryna get by. The fact that people kept fucking off and replaced by new ones everytime I clocked the hustle means I am correct - there was a shakedown operation happening out front. All the while? There was only one security guard - and all he did was check ID's. I'm sure the dude would've done more if he was properly equipped though. Y'all sincerely need to get your shit together. That was fucking awful. If you are a woman, or empathetic - do not come to this establishment. Apparently you do not have a choice in the matter, you will be manipulated somehow.
