Today Barbara offered to find my size at other locations and text me the results. So kind. The selection is limited here- no petites- but fabulous Brooks Brothers quality and service.

Really disappointed in our recent purchase here. HUGE lack of attention to detail. For an almost $2,000 tuxedo, this is absolutely not acceptable. I even went in myself to switch out his tux shirt (which they measured him for the wrong size) yesterday and I found the service rep (Larry) to be very rude because there was no tag on the shirt we were exchanging (he was given it that way) - so after waiting awhile they finally looked it up under his name but gave me a lot of grief about it. But that customer service aside, the rep helping him Gerald, has been very nice and considerate, but in hindsight seems to have only cared about making a sale and not making sure he has the perfect tuxedo (as should be expected for Brooks Brothers). Since we flew out to VA from LA today, we are now going to have to pay a premium for last minute alterations since the store didn't do their job - I mean look at the cuffs! They didn't even bother to tailor one side, fix the buttons and wipe away the chalk (see photo). Completely unacceptable for the price of the tux in the first place, not to mention causing a lot of unnecessary stress on my fiancé to make sure it still looks good in time. I would hope someone from the store reads this and hopes to do right by him by compensating for the price we have to pay now and offering at least some sort of refund for the poor tailoring job in the first place.

"Oh, Socrates and Plato Praised it to the skies…read moreEveryone that ever loved Everyone that ever tried" (Van Morrison) The website for Plato's Closet tells me "With more than 500 individually owned and operated locations, Plato's Closet makes it easy to support local while shopping sustainably and affordably. Bring in your gently used clothes, shoes and accessories and get cash on the spot, or shop around for some like-new looks-- we've got styles and sizes for every body." I was surprised to see their Enfield location had such a low Yelp rating, because I thought the store was pretty good on a lot of features. #1 - The store was very neat and very well organized with plenty of signs indicating the various sizes of clothing. #2 - The store had a TON of clothing -men's women's, accessories, etc. #3 - Pricing seemed pretty nice -I saw a few gorgeous pairs of like-new sneakers (Saukony) for just $15. As far as thrift and consignment stores go, this one was pretty impressive.

Staff act like they're doing you a favor just by acknowledging you, and the buying process is a joke. They'll turn down items that are basically brand new while their racks are full of worn-out, questionable pieces. Make it make sense. The whole place feels unorganized, unprofessional, and honestly just unpleasant to be in. Save yourself the time and go literally anywhere else

"If you really want to be my friend I really want to…read moreunderstand you baby If you really want to understand me I'll tell you something, that love can't thrive on jealousy" (Keith Richards / Mick Jagger) I'm glad to say I ran into none of the contradictory price confusion my friend Ana faced during her visit. I lucked out because there was a massive sales promotion today. It's hard to get misled on pricing when a posted sign says everything in the store was just $2. Must have been some sort of merchandise clearance deal or something similar. Anyway, as I walked around the store I noticed things were super neat and organized. The store was crowded, especially their tiny parking lot which was maxed out so we had to park on the mulched lawn on the side of the driveway. I was sifting through the men's section, almost bought two long sleeve white shirts but they were a few sizes too big for me. And that's when my eyes settled on a nice light gray/light green Joseph A. Bank suit. A suit for $2!!!!!! It needs to be altered, but I'm thinking I'll still come out way ahead on the deal. My wife also bought a nice coat for $2. The sales ladies were personable and funny, and I had a great time kibitzing with them. All sales proceeds go to charity, and that's a nice touch.

They are open three days a week for a few hours. There are three older ladies who work here. All sales go towards the East Granby food pantry. Inside is one room filled with stuff. The clothes all look very worn, as do the shoes. One of the employees came up to me and told me, if I like anything we can make a deal. She also told me all shoes are $5.00, buy one get one free. That's a bargain. They have some dishes, some home decor items, and some little figurines. Nothing stood out to me. Until I saw, these brand new Keds purple sneakers. I tried them on, they fit and I brought them to the register. That same lady who earlier told me the shoes were "buy one get one free, at $5.00 each". She reminded me of the sale, and told me I could get another pair for free. I told her, "that's ok. I only found one pair." Well, her colleague who obviously heard everything told me they are $20.00. I wasn't going to argue, so I left. I think their business policy is awful. I understand the proceeds go towards the food pantry, which is a wonderful cause. I don't appreciate their lack of honesty towards the customer.
