Now that I'm all settled I decided to try the Intro to Sewing class ($80: supplies included) here & I am SO glad I did!! Diana Rupp, the owner was absolutely amazing. She was so friendly and open! I showed up there with absolutely no knowledge of sewing or how to work a sewing machine. But if you come with interest and an excitement to learn, you'll enjoy it. She gave us hand outs with everything we needed to know, took us through all supplies for basic sewing, taught us the parts of the sewing machine and how to thread a sewing machine. I didn't even know there was a whole process even before beginning to use one?! Lol. She went at our pace, helped us each time we made a mistake, all while having a regular conversation. None of us ever felt left behind or stressed. I was beyond excited when the class was finished. I bought some supplies from her store and even Diana's sewing book (which I highly recommend if you're dedicated). I can't wait to practice on this new hobby and make it my own! They also have tons of other classes available if you want to learn other techniques. Already eyeing the next class I'll be taking: embroidery :)) Love love loved my experience!

If you're like me and had zero to no experience with sewing, this is the perfect class for you. She goes over threading step by step and gives you some great techniques and advice to take home with you so that you can practice. The classes are very small, so if you have questions, she's available. The two hours flew by. I left the class feeling very confident in what I learned (a little too confident, telling people I can take on those mofos on Project Runway!) I can't wait to take another class.

They were well taken care of, exposed to different art mediums, and encouraged in their choice of artworks. I wish we could've had them in camp for more weeks, but we had a busy summer and filled their time with many activities throughout--this was just one of the best weeks they had, especially our son! At the end of the week, we were able to enjoy a folder filled with their lovely works! A treasure I'll keep forever :)

The other night, I found myself sitting with a group, Canvas arranged, candles lighting the space- fresh flowers in vases down the center of the table for inspiration. Paintbrush in hand I was anxious on how to start. Sara's calm reassurance and knowledgeable guidance gave me the confidence I needed to begin my journey across the blank space. I've gone to…read moreother studios, and this was the first one that allowed us to make as many mistakes as needed and just grab more clay to start over. It definitely took the pressure off being perfect the first time and made it so we could both go home with a piece we were satisfied with. They also have multiple colors that you can glaze with which is a nice touch. The instructor was also really helpful & patient. Can't wait to go back!

It was definitely challenging, but I think I made a few things that I could've ended up saving? There wasn't quite enough hands-on help for me to know though. Turns out the we ended class 20 minutes early and I totally had enough time, but was feeling rushed since the teacher was calling out to finish and clean up. I had nothing to take home and will probably not spend another $85 to do a class again. Definitely go if you're interested in learning, but spend the time wisely and don't leave early if you want a nice handmade bowl to bring home!

A friend and I signed up for Jessie's Hand Embroidered Felt Holiday Ornaments class on a Saturday,…read moreand it was SO fun. We can't wait to be back. The 2 hours whizzed by, and Jessie was really friendly and great and giving and showing instructions. She was also very patient with students' questions. The ornaments ended up being so cute from everyone, we were all thoroughly impressed by everyone's work. A lot of us, including me, didn't finish the entire project during class, so we got to take home the supplies we'd need to finish at home. Jessie made sure we had the supplies and knowledge/skills so that we'd succeed at home with finishing up. The studio is nice and cozy, there were about 16 participants of mixed genders and ages. It was really fun, and we can't wait to try more classes!

I was drawn to the flameworking class because of the thoughtful expression of how the instructor, Saint, described the process of working with borosilicate glass in their class. Truthfully, I was so blown away by it all. Urban Glass has a beautiful community based inclusivity spirit and artist centered focus. The studio was well organized and vast. The staff and technical support team are friendly and helpful. Saint's class had a wonderful pacing to it for a 6 hour workshop. We got to know all of the participants and connect together in a fun way, had a few informative demos on equipment safety and glass techniques, and then got to creating! Han, another glass artist at Urban Glass assisted the class, and it was really great to be able to explore making marbles, small figurines on our own and also have Saint and Han jump in when we needed a bit of extra hands on help. I felt confident from the demos and my practice time to be able to rent space on my own after. Our class has stayed in touch since, and I know several of us from the class have been back to the studio since to create. I'm excited to return to explore and learn more!

Imagine blowing hard on a pipe with 10 other people also knowing those same pipes were used by previous people doing the same thing. The topic of cleaning the mouthpieces was never even brought up. Soooo if you're ok sharing a mouthpiece with strangers go for it! Otherwise beware.
