I really want to support a local business, but it has been weeks of hassle just trying to transfer a prescription. Filled out a form to transfer from Walgreens weeks ago for them to lose it. Not knowing it was lost, I waited a couple weeks to come in person since whenever I try to call it rings once and then goes to 30 second long message to leave a voicemail. The owner, Pat, refilled it out for me and assured me they will contact Walgreens today. I get a missed call and return it 4 mins later for it to go straight to voicemail so I leave a message. Still no returned call and it's the next day. I have never had this kind of issue for a simple transfer. read more

I have used Brooklyn Pharmacy since I was young and healthy enough that I hardly ever needed them until I now, unfortunately have too much need of their services. The silver lining is that every contact with them is a pleasure, and I know that I will have a positive interaction. Their customer service is first rate, and I feel confident that I am getting quality medication and the oversight to go with it. They have an in-house compounder for less widely prescribed medications, and they have recently started supplying pet meds as well. And the icing on the cake is Hal, the resident "theradog", whose always available for a pet and a wag. read more

Hands down, the BEST pharmacy around!! I love Brooklyn Pharmacy for so many reasons! We have filled up our prescriptions here for years and years! The pharmacist and staff have always treated us like family. Last summer I needed to fill a prescription for my dying dog and I was a complete mess. Everyone there was so kind and compassionate and we're very comforting to me in my state of distress. In addition to being a pharmacy, Brooklyn Pharmacy also has super cute, greeting cards and pet supplies ! They have some of the cheapest Pill Pockets and poop bags in town. Absolutely fabulous! Good and quick service! Easy and quick parking out front! Helpful people! Clearly and logically defined aisles! Good selection! (Can I think of any more exclamation marks?! Yes! ;0) Courteous staff! I am so glad I tried them! I believe in the concept of smaller stores, especially in your own neighborhood. You receive a level of attention to detail that is often missing otherwise, with good questions about your health. It is also one of the reasons I chose the Brooklyn neighborhood as my home turf. This little neighborhood is not well-known, but there is plenty of community and a neighborhood newspaper that belies the people around me. I had read about this locally owned pharmacy in there. To return to this cute pharmacy: it is so worth the extra 15 minutes it takes you to visit here. The medicine prices are the same as at any 'big pharmacy'. And on a personal level: in order to support this type of business, I will definitely make the extra effort and time to go here and give them my hard-earned salary. My husband went in today to pick up his prescription for the first time with this pharmacy. The owner had his prescription ready to go on the counter but refused to sell it to my husband. The owner (Pat) explained that our co-pay would be $0 & that our insurance company (United Heathcare) would only pay them $4 so "he would be losing money" if he were to sell us the medication. I had called in prior to my husbands visit to verify that the prescription was ready and was never informed of this issue. He did offer to send the prescription to another pharmacy, but being that it is a controlled substance, it will not be available the same day. Now we have to wait because it is inconvenient for THEM. I understand that the pharmacy has "business needs" but it tells me that they do not care about their customers. read more

I will not go back to this pharmacy. I just stopped by to get a vaccination, and was treated incredibly rudely by the owner. He had two other employees working in the store and no customers, yet refused to give me a booster vaccination. He approached me very aggressively and in an angry tone explained that he didn't have the ability to employ enough people to offer vaccinations on the weekend. The combination of his policy and his aggressiveness make me wonder if he's actually an anti-VAXer. There's no need to be rude to customers, and I'd advise reconsidering your vaccination policies so front-line workers who need access to vaccines during non-work days (weekends for teachers) have it. read more

My experience of this small neighborhood pharmacy is simply it doesn't get better than this. After years of using all the big corporate pharmacies and being treated each time as a number, these guys treat you like an actual human being, learning your name, greeting you by name when you walk in, very nice. Only downside i can think of is they're closed on Sundays but that's a small trade off for usually non existent lines, being able to walk in and feel like you're at home. Visited today to receive Covid vaccine and the experience could not have been better. Both the pharmacist and the fellow checking us in were very friendly and efficient. Seeing the burglar bars in the photos of the exterior, I'd worried a bit that the place might feel a bit sketchy, but thats not at all the case. I love that this is a small place. I agree that there is barely any wait and if you call it in before you go it is always ready when you get there. One bonus is the old fashioned candies they have for sale. I love the caramels and the fudge so I make it a treat since I only have to go there once per month for my refills. The people here are relatively friendly. They are older folks so it can seem like they are kinda rough around the edges but to me it is kinda endearing. Support local businesses!! Go here!! There are so few locally owned pharmacies available.. they have all been shutting down with megastore competition... It was hard to even find a small place like this online... I love this place. I've been going here a little over ten years and have always found the staff to be helpful and kind. They've been more than helpful in discussing medications and often go out of their way to help. The service is really fast and, when there is a line, it's a "line" of one person ahead of you. Someone else mentioned the old fashioned candies and, I have to say, I do enjoy them. Chick-O-Sticks and Big Hunks aren't that easy to find but they are fun to eat. Hmmm, I wonder if they have Idaho Spuds... There aren't very many locally owned drugstores anymore and it's a shame. Shipping profits out of town is a hidden cost to doing business with the chains. This kind of shop is better for everyone in the community. I have the hardest time imagining someone getting the "rudest customer service" there. I have seen customers be quite rude and never saw the staff respond rudely. I wonder if someone was having a bad day -- either the staff or the customer. I like this pharmacy a lot more than I do the chains. They don't make you wait just so you shop, they get it ready as soon as they can and sometimes thats very fast. It's also locally owned and that means a lot. That being said, it's not perfect. I've been told not to let my child run around during long waits, and my wife had her name made fun of by one of the men behind the counter... her name is relatively similar to one in a popular movie and the comparison is not one meant to compliment when people make it. Since then, I've gotten to know everyone here a lot better, they know our family and our medications and work with us to make sure we get the right thing at the right price, sometimes even making positive changes to the prescriptions. All in all I've been here dozens of times and the overall experience is far superior to the cold anonymousness, bulletproof glass, and forced shopping wait of your local RXchain at the nearest intersection. read more

I also highly recommend this place. Have gone there for many years... They have been knowledgable in explaining all kinds of remedies, alternatives to prescriptions, compounded drugs etc... When I went in recently to refill a prescription I've had for years the pharmacist came out to inform me that my insurance company had made a computer error and the price which has been $30, for years had just jumped to $90. -before even thinking about it and yes in front of 'the older people' I said F#*K THEM! I then asked what the price would be for this drug with no insurance...its generic and very commonly used-the pharmacist said $181. !!! He was very helpful in explaining he'd seen this before. And its unlikely the insurance would fix the problem. (he did not lecture me about using a very appropriately placed bad word like I'm still in the 4th grade) and he said that was just waaay too much of a mark up for them to take-so he sold me the scrip for $45. and we left the f#%**ing insurance company out of it. In my book this level of common sense, compassionate customer service is solid gold. Its become so rare especially in health care. read more

Mike and Kelly not only took amazing care of my mother, my grandma, and great grandma, but Mike also saved my mothers life, more then once, with preventing bad medicine interactions. Well....damn. I almost got to give these guys a good review. I did have a great first experience with these guys, but the second one was terrible. I took my prescription for Ritalin in to drop off not realizing that it was too early. As someone with ADHD and several prescriptions I don't always remember the exact date that I last got them. I replied "oh well that's ok I'll bring it back" and the pharmacist on duty said: "no we will keep it on file for you". So even though my doctor had written it for that day, the pharmacist not only was refusing to fill it but was not returning it to me. I called a week later and told them that I would be coming in to pick it up and was told over the phone that they didn't have it on file. After explaining what it happened the woman on the phone seemed to vaguely remember me coming in and said " someone lost your paper prescription but don't worry about it we will find it". So now they were acting like it wasn't a big deal that they had lost my prescription. I told them that I was not feeling good about this and was going to come in until it was found. I went down to Brooklyn pharmacy and waited, the exact pharmacist who took my prescription from me originally was working. I told him I would wait until it was found. About every 35 minutes the pharmacist would look at me and say "are you sure you dropped it off with us?" And I would explain to him again that he was the exact pharmacist who took it. At least the woman working did not act like she didn't know who I was, she kept assuring him that I dropped it off with him last week and I am sure that he recognized me. About an hour and a half later they called someone else and to help them look for it. He told me he remembered me and was just going to fill it and the she found it. I look very young, and at times I'm treated disrespectfully for that. I don't know if they thought I was trying to fill a prescription early? Even though my doctor had written it for that day? But if the pharmacist is going to choose to keep a prescription on file at least have the respect to keep track of it. I had to deal with the same thing at the Fred Meyer pharmacy and I just don't feel I can trust any of these places. I understand not being able to keep track of everything, but don't choose to treat me disrespectfully because of your mistakes. They at least apologized profusely and told me they appreciated me waiting. And that's why I'm giving them more than one star. While I was waiting they joked with me and try to keep me in a good mood which they did. I respect these people trying to work in an old-school manner and I realize that they been around forever, but it might be time to at least buy a computer when you're dealing with someone's medicines! Every time I have been in there with other people they have made mistakes with their medicines or lost them completely as well. read more
