I live 15 minutes in California from another location. I won't buy from them because I am so loyal to Dacia. I wait until I come back to my place on the East Coast to come see her or work with her on consignment. I purchased one tank top in California and felt guilty for weeks. Even though the store in California close to my other house is much larger, I find that the merchandise at this location is much better. They seem to get pieces that the other stores do not. They also have a wide range of sizing. Dacia's ability to work with me living part-time in 2 states has been nothing short of amazing. She is kind and thoughtful and honest- and the designs are changing quite a bit as of late. I love most of them, and hope to be a long time supporter and shopper.

Thank you, Goddess of Serendipity. We came out with her wedding ring. We no longer live near Park Slope, but we visit intermittently, and we never leave without something singular and unusual. Next to Specific Gravity, chain jewelry stores feel like McDonalds -- bleak, flashy, mechanical. At this store, you can feel the loving vibrations that went into every piece. And the prices are commensurate with the art. One other thing: no matter how lovely the merchandise is, the experience of visiting, browsing, laughing (always), trying on, and purchasing is nothing without heart. Specific Gravity is staffed by gracious people, some of them artists, so that even when we haven't found anything to buy that day, we have always gone out of the store feeling that we have hung out with dear people.
