    Sales people are like politicians, believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. We decided on the king 'Heritage' model as it has a plush pillow top and I needed something softer than the Stearn's & Foster we had. We paid the $3,200 plus and waited the two weeks for delivery as the bed was being made. We also purchased their special mattress cover in order to have the warranty against spills, etc. The delivery people from Brooklyn Bedding allowed the bed to fall from the back of the truck and onto the street (thankfully it was covered in heavy plastic) This bed requires a flat pedestal type foundation with a sturdy frame as it is quite heavy. The mattress was placed onto the pedestal and it was quite apparent that mattress was undersized, we put their special mattress cover on it and it was massively oversized.-see photos. The piping on both sides of the bed were incorrect as one side sat underneath the mattress while the other side sat well above the bottom of the mattress and also had a serpentine curve near the top side of the mattress. The measurements for a king bed are; 76 inches in width 80 inches in length The king Heritage bed that they delivered was: 74 inches in width 76 inches in length I called Elizabeth Hanson at the Surprise, AZ store -she sold us this bed and she told me that we needed to measure the bed and send the photos. After she 'reviewed' the photos she said the bed was measured incorrectly however, by 'industry standards' the mattress was acceptable, however, by my standards, it was not acceptable! I told her that I wanted the bed measured by her store representatives, she said that company policy states I have to wait an entire 30 days. I asked her to schedule that appointment, which she did and the representatives measurements were identical to the measurements we initially sent to Elizabeth. The bed was remade and delivered on 02-17-23 I tried using their special mattress cover as it actually fit the new mattress but the sheets slid all over the bed, quite uncomfortable. Today 02- 20, I stopped by that store to return that mattress cover and she actually tried to deny my refund as I had it over 30 days, now seriously, she knew it was never used as she saw the photos I sent to her in December! Thankfully, the district manager was in store, he approved the refund.

    This place is a shady operation…read more Went in yesterday with my elderly dad to help him find a new mattress. After he found one he liked but that was out of his price range, the salesperson said don't worry, he would check to see if they had that mattress "on outlet," in which case it would be far cheaper than the list price. He then confirmed that he did in fact have one, and my dad agreed to purchase. He never explained what "on outlet" meant, and we both just assumed it was overstock or something, like the outlet stores we've been to. When the mattress was delivered today, we found that it was a used mattress. Not once was the word "used" or "pre-owned" mentioned during the sale, and we certainly wouldn't have agreed to the purchase if we had known it was used. When my dad called to complain about this, the salesperson became argumentative and flat-out lied, saying that he had had a side conversation with me where he had clearly explained that "outlet" meant pre-owned or floor model. What he didn't realize was that he was on speaker, and I was listening to the conversation. When I confronted him and told him he most certainly did not ever explain any such thing, because I wouldn't have allowed my dad to purchase a used mattress, he then copped an even worse attitude and tried to twist my words around, saying, "So I didn't tell you ANYTHING about this mattress...." He then told me he would "talk to his manager" to see what they could do and call us back. We haven't heard back after more than 4 hours. I believe this was a deliberately deceptive sales tactic to use the misleading term "outlet" to hide the fact that they were selling us a used mattress until after the sale was completed, at which point it would be "too late." (They have a "no returns" policy for pre-owned mattresses.) So my 80-year-old father, who is on a fixed income, was ripped off into paying far too much for a used mattress. Stay away from this place. I am going to send an email blast to all of the local retirement communities detailing their deceptive practices. And no, Mattress Firm social media flack, don't bother responding with one of your empty 'I'm so sorry this happened, please call me so we can make this reight" BS replies. I've worked in digital marketing for years, so I know what this BS PR tactic is meant for. You should be ashamed of yourselves for trying to use these kinds of deceptive tactics on the elderly.

A mattress should improve sleep, not create health issues. The warranty claim process was extremely difficult and frustrating. Filing a claim took far too much effort, and when an inspector was finally sent out, it felt like the decision had already been made before he arrived. My claim was denied because he said he found a stain on the mattress, which came across as a convenient reason to reject the warranty rather than a fair inspection. I would not recommend American Furniture for mattresses or major purchases. As a social media influencer with millions of followers, I believe in sharing honest experiences, and I will be releasing a full video soon detailing this experience so others can make an informed decision. ----------------- Response to AFW comment: Hello, Thank you for the response, but I respectfully disagree with how this was handled and would like to clarify a few points. While the mattress is over five years old, that is exactly why a long-term warranty matters. Normal use over time should not automatically invalidate a warranty claim, especially when the primary issue is loss of support causing back pain and physical discomfort. Also, to be clear, there was no major stain on the mattress. The claim was denied based on a minor mark that does not affect the structure, support, or performance of the mattress, which was the actual concern being reported. When customers purchase a mattress with a warranty, it is the store's responsibility to clearly explain what can void that warranty at the time of sale. It was never explained that a minor, non-structural mark could result in a complete denial years later, regardless of the defect being claimed. The issue here is not whether mattress covers are recommended. The issue is that the warranty process felt designed to deny claims rather than fairly evaluate them. The inspection appeared predetermined, and the stain was used as a blanket reason to dismiss the complaint without addressing the actual problem of support failure. Saying this is "industry standard" does not make it acceptable. Customers reasonably expect a warranty to protect them from defects, not to be nullified by common, non-structural issues after years of normal use. I am sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions, and I will be releasing a full video soon detailing this process and why it felt unfair and dismissive.
