Bloodwork and cytology were ordered. I asked to wait for lab results before starting medication. I was advised to begin meloxicam (Metacam) and Clavamox immediately. Also stated plus it's not expensive...( life is priceless ) IF THEY WOULD HAVE WAITED FOR THE LAB WORK TO COME IN FIRST THEY WOULD HAVE SEEN HOW DANGEROUS THE PRESCRIPTION WAS FOR MY 4 pound dog because of his preexisting condition that they didn't know and I didn't know about !!!! My dog took it for TWO days and DIED in my arms within days... his health declined so rapidly before my eyes it was awful, horrific experience. When diagnostic results became available, they showed significant liver abnormalities, elevated SDMA indicating kidney compromise, pancreatitis, thrombocytopenia, and lymphoma -- conditions that increase risk with NSAID use. I wasn't informed about the dangers and side effects of MELOXICAM !! I am not posting this lightly. I believe pet owners deserve full information and the opportunity to make informed decisions before medications are started. Oh my gggaaaahhhhh, I am so thankful that I found Dr. de Jong!…read more I have a 15-year-old black lab that I HATE taking to the vet. Between getting into the car, to the car ride itself, to the doctor taking her away from me on a slippery floor while I have to wait in the car, it's always a super stressful event - for both of us. It was getting to the point, however, that a vet visit was a necessity in order to get a prescription for her preventative medications, so I went on a hunt to find a visiting vet. Dr. de Jong (who introduced herself as "Kathy" - how friendly is that!) was very responsive to my messages and came out pretty quickly after I got in touch with her. Her nurse, Jill, was also a wonderful blessing. Both of them were just so kind and thorough, and did I mention kind? Friendly. Gentle (literally, like the name of her business!). They explained everything they were going to do before they did it, asked permission to place their items here or there, and were overall exceedingly pleasurable to deal with. They performed annual exams on all my pets, took blood, collected stool samples, administered vaccines, and did it all while trying to keep the pets as calm and comfortable as possible. What normally would be a days-long recovery from a traumatic vet visit, with my senior dog limping from tired muscles, and my cat rubbing his nose raw on the cat carrier, took only an hour. I can't recommend Kathy and Jill enough. If I could give more stars, I would! They are true angels! XOXOXO.

Newly adopted pup, Pup tax attached, initial visit went with a warm welcome they even reached out…read moreto us within days of adoption to make an appointment. I've now realized it's a money grab method to over book themselves before you see their terrible reviews or at least say they do... TLDR: Telephone tag and CONSTANT miscommunication on medicine for pup. Tried to overcharge, still had to double pay because our wishes were disregarded. Final straw was booking sick visit and being pushed toward a $250 emergency vet visit with them because "there's nothing available." Then being called back within 3 minutes to give us the day we asked for originally (two days later.) After that first appointment the pup was tested positive for two parasites. When they called us to inform and ask about medication we wanted "the quickest available option" which was communicated exactly as stated. We were told "okay not a problem it can be shipped right to your home" assuming it'd be fast shipping (like overnight) and it wouldn't be available for pickup same day (was already mid afternoon) we didn't question it since we explicitly asked for the fastest option. Two days later we call to figure out what happened they say the shipping company is separate from them and it might take a few days and they needed payment over the phone before it could be processed. After charging us for ~$200 we were told to just wait the few days. A week after the initial call and a couple days with no email updates on the medicine shipping we called again. We were told that "of course we could come in same day to pick it up from their pharmacy"... then when we got there they wanted us to pay AGAIN and said they're separate from the online pharmacy and that they couldn't cancel it. Of course we already paid so we just left it alone and waited another day. Now I'm pregnant and you're telling me we can't figure ANYTHING out for my pup when he's starting to show worsening signs of the parasites? I was fed up and called again we were even ready to drive to the online pharmacy place to just do the "shipping" ourselves. It was a Friday and we were told if it wasn't there by Monday we could come get it and get a free dose. Weekend came and went, on Monday when leaving for the vet ironically enough ONE medicine showed up the other still had no tracking information or updates. We still showed up to the vet and restated our problems again... They never gave us the free dose but let us pay for the two doses we needed to treat our pup. Terrible. Today was the final straw considering our pup is sick and we figured a few more days to a week for an appointment would be warranted. Even considering every time we showed up their lobby was empty, the parking lot wasn't full, and their name board had plenty of space... We were told we wouldn't get an appointment anytime soon but "the emergency vet is only $250." We had to even call back to re ask what was the actual next available appointment was since we were being pushed toward their emergency vet instead of what we called for. The next available was only two weeks out, but especially after all of our problems here we just said okay and took the information so we could weigh our options because even our emergency vet (away from this place) is a better option for quick services. VCA called us back not even 3 minutes later to say someone ironically JUST canceled on Monday (the day we asked about and a day wait instead) and we could have their spot... I had just walked away from my spouse hanging up the phone about the two week appointment for the bathroom and came back in to him agreeing to the appointment. That's how quick that turn around was. I immediately called back (suddenly they didn't answer quick, we were on hold for 20 mins, they ended my 10 minute hold call, and didn't answer until I used option 0 to just speak to someone and told them to cancel all services. Of course it was met with attitude instead of the customer service aspect of figuring out what was wrong and what they can improve. It's obvious they don't care. As for Parker don't worry the new vet got us an appointment today and we're on the way to his checkup now.

I can't say enough good things about our experience with the Cat Hospital of Media. From the moment…read moreI brought in my cat, Mabel, the entire staff treated both of us with an extraordinary level of compassion and understanding. We were facing the emotional weight of a serious diagnosis, and they made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel supported, informed, and hopeful. Dr. Pelltz was incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive--she helped create a clear timeline of Mabel's care and gave me guidance with empathy and precision. Every question I had (and there were many) was met with kindness, patience, and thoughtful answers. The team never made me feel rushed or dismissed, and they've continued to follow up and ask for updates even after Mabel's referral--something that speaks volumes about how much they care. Even when I brought up the idea of pre-medicating Mabel with gabapentin for future visits (after doing some of my own research), they were immediately receptive and worked with me to make it happen--getting us same-day access to help make her future appointments as calm and fear-free as possible. This practice truly goes above and beyond--not just in treating their feline patients, but in how they care for the humans who love them. I'm so grateful to have found them, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for deeply compassionate, cat-focused care. Thank you, Dr. Pelltz and team, for everything you've done for Mabel--and for me.

As soon as me and my wife walked in the door, the man at the counter was very unprofessional and demeaning. My wife's parents brought in her childhood dog to get an exam and potentially to be put to sleep. So we wanted to say goodbye before she was put to sleep. The man at the counter laughed in my wife's face multiple times as she was asking question then proceeded to raise his voice as the conversation went on. My wife, in tears, the entire time. This was so unprofessional that we pulled the dog from the service. The manager came out and tried to rectify the situation but the receptionist continued to laugh, even as the manager was trying to make right of the situation. I would never EVER recommend someone spend their last moments with their beloved dog here. It must be a very hostile work environment for the receptionist to talk to people this way. Please take your furry family members elsewhere, somewhere loving and caring. Not demeaning and disrespectful. I feel bad for the receptionist, as he probably has a miserable life.

Nothing would help this place! They treated us terribly…read more I guess the dude at the desk thought we had abused our dogs(?) This couldn't have been further from the truth. Our one dog was sick for eight years and had been going there for years. Our other dog had what we thought was a hot spot that we'd been treating with shampoo and hot spot spray. The night before our 2nd dog (14) had splayed out refusing to get up. I was devastated and called to possibly put both dogs down.( I wanted to prepare our family for the worst case scenario) I wasn't sure what was happening as I'm NOT a vet! I told "sweet Linda" at the front desk my two grown children and husband would be coming into the office during my hysterical call. While there... The male receptionist burst into exam room stating that there were too many people there. My daughter and her husband had come to be with us during this difficult time. There wasn't anyone else there. I ignored his blatant ignorance, however he continued his highly emotional unprofessional behavior with me and my daughter. She had asked a question about proceedings. My daughter's husband and myself demanded that the tech calm down and not speak to us in such a manner! I asked his to calm his tone with me twice and he proceeded to wave the " sign for euthanasia" in my face demanding I make a decision on what's happening. It was ALL very confusing. My daughter through her tears asked twice if we could take our dogs somewhere else. When the vet ( Dr. Michelle) came out of exam room the tech was still directing his attention towards me and laughing. I told him that he shouldn't be laughing as none of this was funny! Dr. Michelle may have apologized to my daughter, I don't know. Another guy had come out to desk prior to vet joining the fray and tried to diffuse the situation. I demanded my dogs be released and that we were done and leaving. Dr. Michelle might know animal medicine but has shown time and time again that she lacks the care and compassion that it takes to deal with people especially in this dyer situation. We did leave. We did seek another consultation with a Vet Clinic down the street. They treated us with dignity and care while we said goodbye to our sweet Girl! The tech and The Veterinary Dr. explained everything and we were all five aloud to hold our girl and comfort her.I will never set foot in Pennell Clinic again and will never give them another dime of my money. It was a nightmare that could've been avoided if those in charge had more than a drop of compassion within them.
