I always forget to review this park. It's been my staple for training for a 10k. It's pretty massive and has the option of two different paved pathways. I believe one is a mile longer than the other. It's very spacious and on the inner parts there are luscious grass fields. There's also a recently added 1/4 mile track which is great. I love this park because it's so versatile and always peaceful. It's pretty immune to nearby traffic and in parts it's almost eerie how quiet it is. I definitely think this is a great place for picnicking too. read more

Love this park! This is not for hiking but for walking on paved paths lined with trees many of which are over one hundred years old. {No bikes allowed on the foot paths in Essex County Parks. }The paths wind and meander through little secret spots throughout the park, benches all along the way.There are open fields along the way where people lay on blankets and chairs in the sun reading, napping or playing guitar or Frisbee. It's a beautiful old park kept in tip top condition.I highly recommend it. There is a rose garden, dog park with obstacle course, tennis courts, baseball field, soccer field, and archery field along with an old stone open stadium where summer concerts are held. Only thing I don't recall seeing is a playground for kids with swings etc. It's pretty large for a local town park. I love this place and never get tired of coming here. read more

Awesomely great park. just finished jogging there. The walking/jogging paths are very challenging. The track is very well kept, the stairs make for a great addition to your workout. great atmosphere, very clean and not too over crowded. It's big, it has a nice shaded dog park, a lot of blacktopped paths, some playing fields and one inoperable water fountain -- which is a good thing, 'cause there are NO bathroom facilities 'cept for the Blue Water Beauties that wreak so badly you can smell 'em down wind from forty yards away. read more

"I wish I didn't have that last piece of chicken tender!" I was saying those very words as I huffed and puffed across this HUGE piece of real estate in Montclair. This park is enormous and has everything a person could want. There are two courses if you want to run. A shorter inner course and a longer (1.5 mile) outer course for you crazies! I, of course the masochistic man that I am, decided to go for the 1.5 mile run after eating at a local place. Can someone slap me three times! Although it is not the most difficult course, with only minor elevation changes at both ends, it's still a challenge. I learned that the hard way. Fortunately my next few visits were much better and I've come to love this park even more. It is truly beautiful and I take in as much of the scenery as I can whenever I go for a run. There's also tons of other things to do. There's a huge open field to enjoy some sports with friends, a track and field area, children's playground, a dog park on the far end, rose garden, and a freakin archery field. Where do you find an archery field randomly located in a park. I tell you nowhere! I love watching people fire off shot after shot. It makes me want to take up archery... nah I'll stick to my firearms! Anyhow this place is truly an important part of Montclair and the surrounding towns as well. read more

I really love this park. It's big, with lots to do. There's a huge track for running with a large turf in the middle for playing sports, several large lawns with tons of sun options, baseball fields, the biggest dog runs I've ever seen (I'm used to those in the city...), bathrooms (porta-johns but still...better than nothing!), a rose garden, tennis courts...it's just great. And there's hardly ever anyone there! It's usually feels empty which is amazing! There's also a kids section with a couple playgrounds, but we stay as far away from that madness as possible. read more

Love walking the circle around this park. Played soccer and tennis here in my younger days. The rose garden is beautiful during warm weather. Always plenty of parking and it never feels crowded here. A great place to relax and get away from it all. read more

Nice-sized park with two different walking trails with wide paths (one is 1.5 miles, the other just 1 mile). It was not particularly busy on the Sunday afternoon we visited. We passed by a rose garden, dog park, and tennis courts. read more

I like smaller, since the bigger the playground is, the more my son zooms around from section to section (and I have to chase him). But this scenic park is definitely worth a trip! read more

i just saw the Goddess Aphrodite run by me on the trail I can't wait to come back and admire her .. her sisters run here too, they share her charms.. quite large mostly sports oriented rather nature oriented park (but pretty and very clean and well maintained) with 1.5 and 1 mile loop trails and a bunch of connectors and some moderate incline sections. lots of beautiful people running, walking, soccer playing, archerying, tennis-ating, frisbee-izing, softball-izing, sunbathing (more goddesses), fraternizing with enemies, friends, lovers, and maybe/wouldbe/wannabe lovers.. surrounded by suburbia. a quite pleasant place , but basically a local destination, but nicely connected to a large "Lenape Trail" network leading to the ridges of the vicinity, through hill and dale..the rose garden is small but well maintained and nice to check out for contemplation and perhaps a selfie with Aphrodite herself. read more

The park is extremely clean and family friendly. There is a well maintained archery range along with a rose garden, play ground and large open fields. During the summer months, there are concerts and even fourth of July fireworks. read more

This park is the best park I have ever went to by far! If you're looking for a park and thinking twice about it then please do yourself a favor and go here. It is the biggest park with beautiful paths to walk on and trees (almost like tiny forests surrounding you) everywhere. It's beautiful. There is a dog park which is large for your dog to play in and run and meet new four legged friends. They are divided into two fenced areas, one for dogs 25 lbs - and the other 25 lbs + My dog definitely enjoyed himself considering the fact that when he got out of the car he couldn't stop running around and exploring. The kids playground is also very nice. You can tell it's newly renovated and it's big so I'm sure the kids appreciated it. The park is also that big that you won't have a bunch of people passing you and bumping into you so you'll be able to really enjoy a peaceful but fun experience. there is also a bunch of grass space where you can have a picnic. I saw that a lot of people were working out too and benches everywhere where you can sit and enjoy the outdoors. There is a rose garden I just haven't got to it just because i spent most of my time walking and in the dog park but I'm sure it's beautiful and I will visit that when I come back. There is plenty of parking so there is no problem with that. Just an overall AMAZING experience like no other park. So clean and tidy and just fantastic! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 10/10 read more

I have been going to this park since the seventies in the early days it was one of a kind with people coming from all over just to ride around in bumper to bumper traffic ( sometimes it would take an hour to go around once) just to meet people, than the county made it so you could only go around half way killing the party, however 30 years later it is still one of the best kept parks anywhere it host all sports, concerts, hobbies, exercise, and events, only downside it has become over run with dogs. read more
