I gotta tell you... I love this little park. First visit - okay, I dug it. Second visit - more time to explore and continually found new and interesting reasons to enjoy Essex County's seventh-largest park (I totally stole that tidbit from Wikipedia). Third visit - okay, okay - I'm officially smitten! A (small-ish) pond complete with locals fishing? Tennis and pickleball courts? Horseshoe pits? Bocce court? Paved trails (both in the main/open portion of the park as well as tucked-away under dense forest)? Baseball field (as a bonus - a group of kids always practicing cricket off to the side)? A tiny little spot consisting of parallel bars and (uneven) pull-up bars - for aspiring gymnasts or American Ninja contestants? An aqueduct (complete with a handful of little bridges to cross over) running throughout the entire park? A damn fine playground (with interesting and in-good-shape equipment) for kids (from 2 to 12 years old)? Plenty of tables (old-school picnic style as well as more modern/sleek)? Those clunky-but-sturdy BBQ grills that are drilled into the ground for you to use but can't take home with you? Rock cairns to find and admire while walking through along the tree-covered trail? A few strategically-placed water fountains to rehydrate and cool down? Plenty of Porta-Potties and trash receptacles (including freebie baggies so you can scoop up your pet's droppings)? A random deer (or doe) sighting in or near the park every single time I've visited? Yes! A resounding "yes!" to all of it. read more

Tiny county park in a residential area, so no trails. You can walk around the park in about 15 minutes. Small stocked pond with ice skating when safe and allowed, children's swings and slide and a small tennis court. Benches all around. Well kept by the county. Parking on the street and a small lot with a few handicapped spaces. Bicycling not allowed due the size of the park and amount of people. Playing field up and behind the park area. Events held occasionally. read more

Beautiful lake, great for ice skating. Playground is safe and child friendly. Hiking trail is beautiful. Tennis court is well maintained.

Nice park and playground. The Essex Fells DPW needs to manage it a little better. Blow the leaves off the stairs etc. Most the parents are good with wearing masks but there is always one. read more

A beautiful park with lots of space to spread out. There's a pond with birds and benches spread around the perimeter. A modern play area (with a zip line!). Tennis courts, if you're into it. Really everything you need to entertain yourself (or your kids) with plenty of shade and sunny areas depending on your mood. In the summer months there's plenty of space to have a picnic without being on top of other people. The grounds are well maintained and there is ample parking nearby. read more

Visited on June 12, 2021. It's a very peaceful feeling park. Took a short hour walk which included going past the children's playground, a pond & a playfield. Would definitely come back to explore the rest of the park. There are a ton of eateries nearby. read more

Grover Cleveland is my go-to park for a walk or a run, year round. It has a small lake that people can fish in or ice skate on during the winter when the temperature is cold enough. It also has an ample amount of tennis courts that are in good shape (may need a permit to play), a good sized playground for the kids, open field for the dogs to run in, a set of parallel pars and pull-up bars, a baseball field at the east side of the park, and a picnic area with benches and grills to use. Of course, there are plenty of park benches. For running or walking, the entire circumference of the park is paved nicely and there are mile markers if you want to see how far you're going. During snowy winters, however, the path on the lower side of the park is all that is cleared, so it may mean for a dicey (and icy) walk or run during the winter if you want to use the entire circumference of the park. In terms of parking, there's a small lot on the south side of the park on Runnymede Road, another small lot on the east side on Buttonwood Road (good for when you're going to a baseball game) as well as plenty of street side parking on the west side on Brookside Avenue. read more

One of the best parks in the area. Features a nice duck pond (fishing allowed), walking/running paths with mile markers, a large playground, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, and indoor bathrooms (closed overnight). Parking is good, with spots all along the road and a small lot at the far end of the pond. I've walked in this park at night and it seems very safe. It's very close to the Essex Fells police station and Caldwell police are frequently seen patrolling. read more

The renovations are finally done at the Grover Cleveland Park! The new park is much more toddler friendly. They added a kiddie zip line. They put in 2 swings where you can swing WITH your baby or toddler! I've never seen that before. My 6'3" husband fit on the swing with our 2.5 year old. There are a lot of nice picnic tables and even a water misting station!! We can't wait to go back! read more

I always forget about this park and when I go, I fall in love all over again. I've been going here more often since the pandemic started and it's been more low key in the mornings which feels good. The park itself is beautiful - playground equipment is top notch and in excellent condition with fun things like a zip line and cool, modern swings! There's a lovely walking path and tons of beautiful trees surrounding you, especially in the fall. There is also a pretty stream where my kids and I love to watch the leaves "swim" through, as well as park benches and picnic tables and tennis courts. The park is huge and I have yet to explore the whole thing, but it's great for folks of all ages, whether to play with friends on the playground, take a walk or run, or just soak up some sunshine and beauty! Side note: parking here can be tricky/confusing until you get the hang of it. Side parking is available along the side of the road. read more

What an excellent park. Tons of trails, lush greenery, and a massive, new, pristine playground (with a zip line). The playground also has misters and water fountains that have faucets to fill water bottles. I'm seriously impressed with the money hats been put into this park and how well it's been kept. read more

The central park of North NJ! This place has beautiful paved walking paths, tennis courts, a large playground, bathrooms, baseball and open fields, a relaxing brook to walk alongside, picnic tables, and a nice pond. Park along the street - there are multiple entrances all around the park. The trees there give it shade and block out a lot of noise - great place to relax! read more

This park is beautiful. It is huge and clean with a beautiful fountain, benches, and playground. Very nice for a stroll or to ride your bike at night. I definitely reccomend this place for a nice afternoon (or even night as it is brightly lit) visit. read more
