Complicated case? No problem…read more Dr. Gold and Dr. Rubino have become part of "Team Teeth". I have a complicated case in which 3 dental professional offices need to coordinate. I had an injury to my front top tooth more than 30 years ago which has caused damage to the root and subsequently bone loss. Losing at least one tooth was inevitable, therefore an implant is required. My bottom teeth were very crowded, making flossing difficult, resulting in some periodontal disease. Before I could get an implant, I needed to have the bone filled-in. In 2 years the excellent professionals at Montclair Orthodontics have straightened my teeth and facilitated the bone growth necessary for the implant. Now I can floss easily to maintain healthy gums and the rest of the team can take over. By working so well with my primary dentist and periodontist, the burden of coordinating all the necessary steps was taken off my shoulders. THANK YOU! This has been a daunting process!!! Doctors Rubino and Gold proactively shared via phone and email my progress and coordinated next steps with Dentist and Periodontist to insure the best possible outcome for my oral health. There is still more to be done, but Dr. Rubino sent me off with 2 retainers. One for the mouth I have today and one for after my teeth have been extracted to keep all the other teeth where they belong. She even painted it to look like teeth! I'll need a new retainer once the implant process in complete. Why I love them: + They filled me with confidence + They are professional + They are caring + They took excellent care of me + They went above and beyond by working with the rest of my dental team. + They made it easy for me to continue on with the process by removing the burden of coordinating all the steps

I came to Ferguson Dental when an old cavity fell out. My old dentist was near my office, which I…read morestopped going to a year earlier because of Covid, so I was scrambling to find someone local, especially after my spouse's dentist had no availability until early next year. Ferguson Dental was recommended by a friend, and I am very grateful to that friend. Dr. Cocchia, Francesca, and everyone else I met was friendly, professional, and as far as I can tell, great at their jobs. Nobody likes going to the dentist, but since you have to do it, you might as well go to an office where you are treated well by a highly competent staff, and that's exactly what I got here.

A ten-star rating should be offered because five stars just isn't enough when it comes to rating…read moreFerguson Dental Associates. I am not exaggerating! You simply will not find a practice that is better than this one. Dr. Ferguson uses advanced technology to great advantage: he gets brilliant results, whether you're getting a tooth capped, a cavity filled, a cleaning, cosmetic work, etc. When I was a new patient six years ago, I was shocked that I could get a tooth capped in one visit, a cap that fit perfectly first time around and never gave me a moment's discomfort. Speaking of discomfort, if you get nervous, as so many people do, when going to a dental appointment because you're anticipating discomfort and/or pain, you can forget all about that. Dr. Ferguson and his team are masters at keeping their patients pain-free (even the shots are no big deal). I recently had cosmetic work done, which involved six teeth being capped. For years, I had been smiling with my mouth closed or putting my hand to my mouth. I hardly have words for the incredible work Dr. Ferguson did. It has absolutely changed my life. It's really a joy to smile now. My teeth look totally natural and some "gumminess" that bothered me is significantly reduced (I'm not sure how Dr. Ferguson achieved this). The work was finished in two visits. When I went home, after the second visit, my husband said, "Wow, your smile looks beautiful!" In addition to the exemplary dental work at Ferguson Dental Associates, I promise you that you won't find better staff anywhere. The dental assistants are superb; they do not make mistakes. And you won't find more highly-skilled hygienists who honestly will not let you out of the chair, until they're satisfied they've done a perfect job. The staff at the desk are super-competent and super-nice, a pleasure to interact with. In fact, everyone in the practice couldn't be nicer. I was made to feel welcome and comfortable from my first visit. I should add, my husband is also a patient and he feels exactly the same way as I do. Confession: We actually look forward to our appointments!

From the moment we walked in, I was pleased with the experience. The staff was so friendly, and check in was a breeze; they request you fill out the forms before arriving, which allowed me to just walk on in. (We were the only patients there, which was amazing!) Dr. Sugarman was the kindest, gentlest, and most compassionate man...a perfect pediatric dentist! He explained everything to my child and showed her all his tools before using them. My daughter was NOT happy to be there, but the hygienist and Dr. Sugarman were experienced and patient. The whole appointment only took 15 minutes, which was so convenient. Anyone with a baby knows how hard it is to keep them occupied for long periods of time. Dr. Sugarman addressed all my concerns and took away any worries I had. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this office. I will definitely be sticking with this dentist.

I was very happy with Dr. Sugarman and his staff last year. The reason I am giving a two-star…read morereview is because not everyone in his office is vaccinated against COVID-19. For a pediatric dentist who treats children under 12 who are not able to get vaccinated yet, this is unethical and dangerous. I am very sorry to do this, but if more patients complain or leave the practice, maybe that will convince them of the seriousness of this pandemic.

I had a whole childhood of traumatic dentist experiences that caused some serious adult rebellion…read moreof me sticking it to the man by just not going to the dentist for a decade in my 20s. I eventually paid the piper for that one, and since that time, I've realized that the key to me not avoiding the dentist and taking care of my teeth the way I know I should is finding a person that intuitively adheres to trauma-informed principles of care: respects/believes patients, explains what they're going to do and when, communicates safety clearly, etc. I had a great dentist in NYC and then COVID happened and then we moved to NJ and yeah, I've been delaying finding a new dentist for, um, mumblesfouryearscough. I knew it was time to establish care here and I knew a whole boatload of 5 star Yelp reviews wouldn't lie. First off, my intake paperwork asked me what I was looking for / what was most important to me in a dentist. Then it asked if there was any accommodation I might need to feel more comfortable. Then it asked my anxiety level on a scale of 1-10. No one has ever asked me this before. On the day of my visit, having given this much thought, I decided to let my freak flag fly and asked my hygienist if I could just keep the xray apron on for my whole cleaning. If she batted an eyelash, I didn't notice, and me and my weighted blanket snuggled in for an excellent polish. Well, it turns out I had a cavity. Made an appointment to go back to have it filled. Considered asking for an Rx for a single valium, but decided against it. I was brought into a room that seemed to date to a revolutionary war time period visually, but with modern technology. THE CHAIR MASSAGED ME. Dr. Kim explained what he was going to do, showing me my xray once more, numbed me up, removed my old filling and fixed up my cavity in like, 6 minutes. I don't know if it was the ambiance of the room, the chair massage, Dr. Kim's evident competence, or the acoustic Bruno Mars song playing, but I did not feel I had been locked out of heaven. To the contrary, this was an excellent experience. If you are afraid of the dentist, this is the place for you.

I had been going to this dentistry for the entirety of my teenage and adult years, moved out of state two years ago but hadn't decided on a new dentist yet so when visiting family almost a year ago, early spring time 2025 I booked back to back days, one for cleaning + X-rays the next for any cavities that may need to be handled. I came in first day for cleaning got that all done. Found cavities okay cool come in the next day to get them filled. Nope they tell me that day was booked for me for a second cleaning or something? Tell me to come back in a week or two which is obviously not easily possible as I live a 5 hour plane flight away now. I book a trip for a few months later in June and booked for all 3 cavities to be done with them. I come in and this time I'm seen by the woman doctor, can't remember her name. Too annoyed to look it up now. She tells me she doesn't have time for all three which is kinda insane because I booked for this you know months ago. She tells me she'll do 2 and I can come back in a few days for the other one. I tell her no girlboss I'm getting on a plane tomorrow morning and you guys were supposed to do this months ago. She begins the cavities, drills down, literally leaves the room for 30-45+ mins and I'm just there with my mouth open for a long time. She seems extremely distracted and rushed. She "finishes" the cavities and I'm sent out. Essentially because she was rushing so much she did not properly scoop out the entire cavity and covered it so it continued to rot and infect downwards to my nerves. My mouth hurts so much. It doesn't stop hurting. I call two weeks later asking why one specific tooth hurts so bad and they just tell me my gums are irritated and I'll be fine. I've broken bones, had surgeries, dealt with pain before but this was different. This was debilitating to the point of not being able to move or speak. Soon after I go on vacation to some islands. Snorkeling, going on planes frequently, my tooth is in insane pain I can't even open my mouth to breathe the air hurts my tooth. Imagine spending thousands for a nice vacation and not even being able to eat ice cream and waking up every single day in terrible pain. I return home and immediately see a dentist in the town I now live in and they do X-rays, tell me I need a root canal. This is in August 2025 at this point. I get it done, flash forward to late February 2026 and I still cannot eat on the right side of my mouth. The tooth will not calm down and I'm told there's likely small fractures in the tooth that can't be picked up on X-ray and I have to go to a specialist and probably need it removed and an implant now. So if you truly care about your health and want your teeth to stay in your skull and not wastes thousands of dollars, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
