In the past, I've been followed around these types of stores, even when shopping with my Filipino family. But at Bangkok 54, they always greet me with a smile, and they go out of their way to help me find the things I need. There have been multiple times that I have been overwhelmed by the very many options here and staff have actually come from behind the counter to help me find things. They have a wide selection of items. From instant Thai tea mixes, to all of the traditional sauces and seasoning packets you could ask for. What's really nice is that they have some prepared foods, often chilled, at really good prices. For example, I bought a 10 pack of Gyoza for about five bucks. The Gyoza were pork and chicken, so that was a pretty good deal. Service is good. Selection is plentiful. Prices are very reasonable. You will come across some higher prices than what you would find in the grocery store for the same items. However, you are paying to support a local business, and there's not that much of a difference. Additionally, the quality of a lot of their produce is a lot of better than what you will find in a traditional grocery store. For example, one day I spent $1.50 on scallions here. I spent one dollar on scallions from the grocery store. These were significantly fresher, larger in size, and more flavorful when I cooked with them. You absolutely get what you pay for. All in all, I love this little store. It's nothing like a massive H Mart, but it has so many of the core things you need, especially when cooking Thai food.

I've had dinner here, picked up a premade lunch, and been to the market multiple times. Literally…read moremy heaven on earth. Thank you BK54

I tossed in some fresh balls of mozzarella cheese and loaded in veggies - zucchini, carrots, broccoli, bok choy, and cauliflower. Bon appétit! A pound of pasta is roughly $7-8 while the sauces are around $7. You can choose the quantity of pasta, 3/4 pound of pasta was more than enough for my hubby and I and doubled over for another meal. I would probably go with the 1/2 pound next time. Highly recommend getting some fresh pasta to make at home along with some sauce!

If you want spinach fettuccine, dry egg pasta, chocolate or pumpkin ravioli, this is the right place. They also neatly list all of their ingredients right below, for those of you with allergies. 20 raviolis, and 15 flat pastas! This is Eastern Market, so the prices are all relatively expensive (but this is a specialty shop in a metro accessible, safe neighborhood, so quit complaining). I paid $6/lb for some basic cheese stuffed tortellinis, $5'lb for fusilli, $6-7/lb for spinach fettuccine, and up to $15/lb for some of the more exotic raviolis or pastas. They sell a variety of pasta sauces in small tubs (Pesto, approx $6, puttanesca or marinara are $5 or less per tub) and have a good selection of olive oils behind the counter. The sauce tubs are at least 2 cups worth of sauce. They also have a wide array of local coffees if you're needing a pick me up. Oh, and before I forget, they have over a half dozen variety of olives!
