They even gave me a discount for my cat's first set of shots, which I really appreciated. The staff was kind, welcoming, and took their time explaining everything throughout the visit--I never felt rushed. The only thing they could improve on is time management. My appointment was scheduled for 12:45, I arrived a little early, but I wasn't seen until around 2:00 PM, so the wait was about an hour and 20 minutes. Overall though, I would definitely recommend them. I only paid $200 for my kitten's first vet visit, which is a huge plus compared to other vet prices I was quoted. Unfortunately this time around I brought Jeffery in for a End of Life produres due his severe illness. Dr. Ritchie administered this painful procedure for me, and her kindness and sincere attention handling my Jeffery and her assistance Denise was outstanding and I thank them both on taking care of my Jeffery. Let me start by saying this was a place I used to take my dog--faithfully. I've had her since she was 10 weeks old, and she'll be fourteen in November. Yes, she's a senior dog. This location had me completely messed up. I took my dog here the other day for vaccines, a checkup, and possible bloodwork. I called beforehand and spoke to a woman who told me the checkup was $65, the shots were $55 each, and the bloodwork would be around $260. Cool--no problem. We get there, and during the checkup, the doctor suddenly tells me the visit is actually $75, offering some BS reasoning: that it costs more since I'm doing bloodwork with the checkup instead of vaccines. Excuse me? That makes zero sense. The checkup is the same--there's no magical difference in what she's doing. She doesn't perform a special trick just because my dog's getting bloodwork instead of vaccines. (We'll come back to that.) Then she says my dog may no longer need vaccines and gives me a whole rundown. Again, fine. We settle on the bloodwork and the checkup. Total? $310. Next, I ask, "When will I get the results from the bloodwork?" She replies quickly, "Tuesday!" So I say, okay, no problem. But then--I have to pay before my dog is even taken in for this so-called bloodwork. Then the groomer comes in, and here comes another scam. She's like, "Oh, since your dog isn't getting vaccines anymore, we can groom her here. It'll be $130..." and says it like she's giving me a deal. Then she tries to upsell me on extracting some anal glands or whatever. On top of that, she says I also have to pay for the fecal exam--another $40. So, almost $200 just to groom my senior dog--at the vet--now that she's not even getting vaccines? Back to the bloodwork: we finish, and we leave. Monday was a holiday, so fine. Tuesday--no call. Wednesday--no call. Thursday--I call, and no one answers. I keep getting voicemail or getting hung up on. Now I'm panicking. I'm texting, DMing them on Instagram like, why haven't you called about the bloodwork? Why is that not your top priority? Eventually, someone calls--only because I'm lighting them up via text. By now, I'm seriously questioning if I'll ever bring my dog back there again. The service was awful. The customer care? Nonexistent. The whole experience? A disaster. So I call another vet--and guess what the actual medical professional tells me? That if my dog won't be getting vaccinated anymore, she should be groomed at home for safety reasons. It's not safe to have unvaccinated senior dogs around other dogs. Boom. This vet didn't tell me that. You know why? Because they just wanted my money. It's not about your pet's health, or your peace of mind as a pet owner. It's about dollar signs. This place is a money-hungry scam. They don't care about pets--they care about profits. In the end, I found an amazing mobile groomer who is coming to my home to groom my dog--for $110. And I'm tipping him the extra $40 I would've wasted at that horrible vet. I've been coming to bronx vet on Webster ave for over 10 years due to the convenient location and my past experiences have been mediocre at best. Today I went in for a emergency visit to have my 11 year old pitbull checked out for a paw injury. They must have a entirely new team because I've never been more pleased with a visit. Dr. Perez was wonderful! She was informative and empathetic. You can tell she loves what she does. She made me and my old lady girl feel so comfortable. The entire staff really took care of my girl even though it was packed and we waited practically all day I'm thankful I went in and go to observe everyone. Very happy with my service today. I was unhappy with this vet business before when they refused to see my cat one time, but when I called again a different person told me to come in and because it is close to my house, I continued going there and my cat seemed healthy, just swallowed some toy stuffing which eventually he pooped out. Huge mistake. Every time I've had an appointment, it was three hours or more before I left, extremely stressful to my cat. A couple of years ago the cat was urinating excessively and losing weight, and they told me after blood tests nothing was wrong. Later on, the cat got a tooth abscess. Two different people quoted me two different prices for a tooth extraction, one much lower than the other. Dr. Vyorst told me quite unconcernedly, "he could die under the anesthesia." I took the cat elsewhere to a specialist dentist where they ordered proper testing. Due to a series of events with the testing, it became evident to me that the cat might be hyperthyroid. I had to go and ask Dr. Robert to take a T4 test, lo and behold the cat was hyperthyroid. They had never ordered a thyroid test. Why should I be the one diagnosing my cat? The cat was put on transdermal medication and three months & also a year later, he tested hyperthyroid again having been ok in between. I was never told by Dr. Robert to clean his ears on a daily basis, or at all, so I never did and medication builds up at times instead of absorbing as another online vet told me later. He also now had early-stage kidney disease. I asked several times if I could give subQ fluids at home and Dr. Robert said he doesn't ever recommend subQ fluids because it ruins an animal's quality of life and he would not give them to me. I noticed on the vet notes which I read later, that it says I was advised on subQ fluids. That is an outright lie. Dr. Robert recommended hospitalization for IV fluids for three days, in the end they kept him another day because they said they only release animals after 5:00 PM and charged me $945 for the one extra day. The total bill was just short of $4,000 which is excessive for just fluids. They do not have anyone there overnight to tend to the animals and they told me they don't have cameras either. No urine test was ever taken to check for infection or crystals which is routine. No ultrasound was done either, which is also routine. After the cat had come home from the hospitalization for IV fluids, he pretty much stopped eating, he was only eating 1 1/2 ounces of food a day. A 12-pound cat should be eating 8 to 12 ounces a day. I called Dr. Robert, he finally called me back after I called for three days and told him the cat's hardly eating for two weeks and he hates his kidney food and I told him how much the cat was having and he said, that's ok, at least he's getting something, don't give him any other kind of food. He did not prescribe any appetite stimulant or nausea medication. I contacted the online vet to get an appetite stimulant and she told me cats will literally starve to death instead of eating something they hate, so give the cat whatever wet food he wanted and she also gave me an appetite stimulant. But even after that the cat was still not eating much and was constipated and then Dr. Robert gave me Lactulose and not knowing I was giving appetite stimulant still no appetite stimulant or nausea medication. When I called to tell Dr. Robert about a problem with the Lactulose, he never returned my call. Concurrently, I had asked the general manager to refund my Visa card for the hospitalization and re-charge the bill on my CareCredit card which I had forgotten to use. She said OK and she charged the CareCredit. She said she refunded my Visa but I noticed no refund had posted. I emailed her about it and she did not respond. I had to remove the charge from my credit card by instituting an investigation. She called me after that stating she had refunded the money, but the bank knows the truth. I had to get subQ fluids and anti-nausea medication from the online vet and she told me to use MiraLAX which doesn't require a prescription if the Lactulose isn't good and reduce the medication dose, clean the ears every day. After all that, the cat was back to eating and was alert and not hiding anymore or constipated. Unfortunately, his kidneys ended up failing completely anyway three months later and I did have to put him to sleep. But this clinic did not give proper care instructions or all medications that were needed or take the appropriate tests when he first got the illnesses that he had. And when I finally told them I put the cat to sleep, they did not even say sorry. I cannot believe the offhand way my cat and I were treated by this place after all the years I went there. They are just incompetent and have too many clients to pay attention. You should go literally anywhere else. read more

I used to take my pets here for years. This place has gone down hill. The manager is a nasty greedy money hungry parasite. They charge you for two or three days hospital stay which you have to pay upfront, then the manager conveniently tells you your pet can go home in one day. They do not reimburse you. You could see the manager get very annoyed when I was reluctant to take my sick dog home. They have doubled in price and its all about money. The techs are very nice. Managment is disgusting. Especially that fake manager that is in it to squeeze you out of every penny. You know who you are you greedy phony cruella. They take advantage of poor people during pet emergencies because we dont really have good vets in the Bronx. This review is for the Eastchester Road location. I brought my cat for weight loss, inappetance, lip-smacking, and poor hair-coat. These signs were brushed aside by the assistant and veterinarian. This location had clearly overbooked since it had an overcrowded waiting area. I waited over an hour to be taken into an exam room for the DVM to look at my cat for maybe 4 minutes tops. I agreed to the full bloodwork that included pulling urine. I asked if they were going to pull it (the urine) guided by ultrasound or do it as a blind stick while palpating the bladder and was told they'd palpate which had me a little nervous. They took my cat for the blood and urine draw, and while I waited, I was given a fecal cup. They returned my cat and I left. They submitted the samples on Monday and I was notified of the results on Friday. In the meantime, my cat lost another 0.4 pounds on top of the 1.6 she was down when I brought her in that Monday to Bronx Veterinary Center. She stopped eating and was lip smacking (indicating she was nauseous - I was a licensed vet tech for 16 years and took care of many nauseous pets so I can tell the signs of nausea). I ended up taking her to a ER/Specialty hospital Friday around 1am - they med boarded her until an abdominal ultrasound could be done later that day and she was diagnosed as having pancreatitis (confirming the nausea). She was hospitalized for meds and fluids until Saturday evening when I opted to bring her home to see if I could get her to eat. Here's a few questions: 1. why did the bloodwork results take so long - the paperwork stated that it was submitted on 11/10 and completed on 11/11 so why did I get them forwarded 11/14? especially for a cat that is losing weight and clearly not well - haircoat unkempt (even when I brush her twice a day) 2. why did they not do in house blood work to show organ function and electrolytes, blood glucose, pcv/tp? this minimum bloodwork gives lots of informaiton. 3. why did they wait to tell me on Friday that they never pulled urine on the initial visit? I have worked in the field. I know it is sorely understaffed. If you know your staff is overworked and that they may call out - don't overbook your appts. Greed + upset clients who have long waits to see the doc = negative reviews and clients going elsewhere. *sidenote: I am bringing my pet in because they are not well, the last thing I need to hear is your pitching to me bullshit products for supposed arthritis. They charged us over $500 for vet visits and meds and we had to take him back two weeks later, $800 later finally my cat was seen by a licensed vet that gave him an injection that calmed the itching and discomfort my baby boy was going through. Despite paying so much, the wait times were painfully long, and I practically had to beg for a simple treat to calm my anxious pets. It felt like I had to "prove" my cat's symptoms instead of having them taken seriously. Then, out of nowhere, he stated he believed my cat had a tumor. This was shocking, as my cat had previously been active, eating well, and a visit three months before showed improved CKD #'s. I tried explaining that his decline started after taking iron medication prescribed by another doctor, but the vet ignored me, literally stating, "I'm the expert." Lab work and X-rays later confirmed my cat was severely constipated, with no signs of a tumor. Given his state, he likely needed hospitalization and IV fluids, but how could the vet properly treat him when he refused to listen? My cat passed away the following day. Unfortunately, I understand why so many reviews describe this practice as a cash grab. They overbook appointments, rush exam visits, and fail to provide detailed guidance on managing chronic conditions. Aside from switching my cat to a renal diet, no additional support was offered. Despite his dehydration, I was never advised about subcutaneous fluids. When I called later to ask about it, they never responded. Urgent care is another issue. They charge additional fees instead of properly triaging pets based on medical urgency. Their in-house pharmacy was equally frustrating. My dog needed to have her nail declawed as it split and the quick was completely outside of the nail. After much research I decided to go to this vet (based on cost and care reviews. I am glad I decided to go here - I got my appointment early and they saw ginger within 20-25 mins. The initial exam is $99 and the vet recommended the declawing with minor sedation. Since I had medication of my own, the total price was very reasonable. The staff was super helpful and patient. It does get a bit crowded but definitely worth the wait. This is the most negligent veterinary practice I've ever been to. I went to the Eastchester location. I brought in my 2 month old puppy due to blood in her stool. First off, the doctor says "he's not concerned about the blood" which was mind-blowing. They run blood work and test for parvo but at no point does he advise me to bring in a stool sample. He gives me vitamins and antidiarrhea medication and sends us off. At check out the front desk mentions "Fecal testing is a part of the wellness package, you have two weeks to submit" no urgency. I submit the stool sample on a Tuesday. I give them some time to hear back, tried calling Friday but did not get through to anyone or heard back. I call again Monday, unable to speak to anyone. I had to leave work to go to their office to be told that my puppy tested positive for round worms, they had the results since WEDSNESDAY LAST WEEK, 5 later days, no one attempted to call me. I have never been more enraged in my life. The manager apologizes and says "the medication is free of charge" as if that should solve the problem! The doctor of course acts as if it wasn't a big deal "its common in dogs". I looked into round worms, and yes it may be common in adults dogs but it can be FATAL if left untreated in puppies! The doctor took no accountability and proceeded to say that he was not in last week, so it is not his fault. As a medical administrator, I would never react this way. I would not only be apologetic but reassure my patient that this will never happen again and I will do whatever it takes to put a better plan into practice to ensure patients receive their results in a timely manner. I had an amazing experience after a friend of mine recommending this vet. My dog has a sedated exam due to his prior surgeries. I was asked to sit and wait for my dog and in a matter of 20- 30 minutes everything I requested was done. The nurses are constantly checking on the pet parents and thanks to the nurse that was with my dog the entire time she helped me feel better about switching vets. My dog has arthritis in his legs and I honestly thought the doctor was going to recommend pain meds and he did not. He recommended CBD for his joints. Two days later I take her to the ASPCA because the bleeding got worse & that's when we were told she had a huge mass in her throat. She was choking on the tumor in her throat & bleeding from her mouth because of it. My baby suffered a few more days because of it. She was put to sleep that same day at the ASPCA. This place is absolutely incredible! My former vet clinic was the absolute WORST & I thought that is how these animal hospitals are suppose to be. But boy was I WRONG! My Chihuahua Cookie was having really bad diaherra & I did all I could do when it came to home remedies. So I called Monday morning at 9am. I wanted to know if they take walk ins. A very nice receptionist answered the phone & told me yes they do (however i do recommend an appointment so you don't have to pay extra for the walk in but i had no issue with this)They can see me at 10:30. I came in at 10:25. It was extremely clean & everyone greeted me & my dog. I was seen at 10:35. The vet tech was a very nice young man who made jokes & got all of the important information for the vet. The vet came in & told me exactly what Cookie needed & said verbatim "I don't want you to spend any extra money that's not necessary." CAN U BELIEVE THAT!? He was concerned about my pockets! I absolutely loved that because we all know that vets are expensive. They gave me 3 medications that should clear her problem in a week. They want me to take a stool sample & they emptied her anal glands for $165 in total!! Affordable is an understatement. I brought $300 with me because I was expecting more honestly. Took my dog because she had a vaginal prolapse. They did bloodwork and the staff was very nice. They gave me the full rundown of what has to happen. My dog also has a tumor on her mammory gland. The vet assistant, Jazmine, I believe (short hair cool hair and tats) really put me at ease on the first and second day I was there. She told me she would keep me updated and really showed that she truly cared for my dog. The surgeon was straight forward and gave me lots of information and they explained my dogs bloodwork. So far they are fantastic! I will update this review. My dog is staying overnight for 2 nights because she will get spayed and the tumor removed. They have to keep her to monitor her liver since that was slightly off according to her bloodwork. She is an old lady so I feel happy that they are being extra cautious with her! We needed to board our black gsd for a weekend. Once Bx vet took a look at our dog we were told some of the staff were intimidated by him. We explained when we called we were told there would be no problem leaving our pet. The day we were to leave him no one wanted to get near our 4yr old gsd. Dr told us he wouldn't force his staff to do something they were afraid to do. It wasn't until Bryan Tim walked in and played with our dog. Bryan felt safe with our dog and stated to the dr he wouldn't mind taking care of him for the weekend. Our gsd took a liking to Bryan and felt safe with him as well. Bryan would send us pics & videos of their time together just to make us feel everything was ok. We were so grateful for Bryan for giving our gsd a chance and believing he was no threat. I took my cat in for rapid breathing . He also had a abcess on his tail that forgot to mention to the Dr. The Dr did not check his vital signs ear, eye, physical attributes etc. They briefly checked his heart and recommended a $300 xray and $100 oxygen t20 minute treatment. On top of the 150 dollars check uo fee. They diagnosed him with congestive heart failure. They gave him a prescription furosemide 20 mg. I asked for prescription to get it cheaper and they asked for additional 7 dollars for a week supply presription. Which meant i had to go every week to get a refilled prescription for 7 dollars on top of the prescription. This place it a high way robbery ripoff. I even think my cat could be misdiagnosed because they never did a bloodwork on him. And when i asked questions they got an atitude. Shame on you, my cat iis supposedly dying I paid you $650 dollars for 30 minutes and you treat me like shit and still want more of my money. In addition, I feel if they would have done bloodwork from the beginning they would have found out his had heart disease .and it would have saved me . read more

I went as a walk-in after my cat escaped and didn't come back for 25 hours. We immediately took him to the vet (only a 45 minute wait and that place was PACKED), where my cat was more interested in playing with DR. Katz and rolling around on the table instead of getting checked up. Haha... It's always a pleasure to come there. The doctor is kind, knowledgable, and really seems to enjoy what he does for a living. We've been long time customers and I remember taking our cats and dogs to Dr. Katz when I was a little girl. As a 22 year old, he's my go-to guy for my own adopted cat and give this place my highest recommendation. Fair prices. Great service. Friendly staff and doctors who really love animals. read more

Health related services for animals should improve ASAP in many places. And the Bronx Veterinary Center is another center that doesn't seem to know what it's doing wrong or how it could improve. The experience they offer feels first and foremost like a cold monetary transaction. And not like a center that should offer compassionate medical attention for your sick pet in need. Walk-ins cost $85, and a simple triage costs $45. Average wait time even with appointment is about 1 hour and 15 min (this was my 3rd and final visit to this Bronx Veterinary Center). Each visit I waited about the same time. Never going back. This time I took one of my two cats to the Bronx Veterinary Center for a bloated and almost rock-hard stomach sutuation. Repeated the same information or reason for visit to 4 different people before seeing the Vet. (Verification procedure or lack of efficiency?) Repeated same exact info to the greeter, the receptionist, the male-nurse, and finally to the actual Vet. (redundant service or unnecessary chit-chat?) Then unfortunately, the vet might have inspected my cat for only about 20 seconds, and only tells me they need to do an X-RAY and that it would $240... walked out the room, and then the male nurse's job was try to convince me why this was the only option. (huh?) Were they having a bad day? Did I have the unfortunate luck of speaking to one of their bad vets again? To start off, what I believe they need to improve on is to pay attention to their veterinary service experience they're offering (Their Brand Experience if you will) They should ask themselves "What is the Bronx Veterinary Center experience? How is it different from the competition? How can we improve it? Why should pets and their owners come back to us?". Animal patients should be given kind and close careful attention to offer the best possible treatments. The owners of the pets should be given clear options of treatments. The vet who barely helped us this time, was a little difficult to understand as well, accent and lack of details in explanation for treatments left me feeling "Huh?" But most importantly I just did not trust him, and now I do not have trust in the Bronx Veterinary Center. And trust, when it comes to offer medical treatment or attention to animals or humans is the last thing you should loose from a patient. My family and I have been going to this clinic for nearly 20 years, when it was at its original location. It was a kind, caring practice with vets that cared. That changed, however when the clinic relocated to its new location. Gradually, this clinic became more about making money than caring for their patients and the people that care for them. The staff at Westchester Square are very polite and helpful. The front desk ladies are efficient and caring. They deal with the public in a professional manner and go beyond to accommodate the clients. I visited this office three times and had no complaints. The techs are knowledgeable and explained procedures clearly. The doctor was also professional and explained Kashmere's condition in layman's terms. The fact that they treat our pets like they are our family is significant and comforting. Their prices were reasonable and the waiting period was short. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT go here. Please. If you value your pets, please stay away from this place! They almost killed my dog!!! I found a Groupon for a dental cleaning at Bronx Veterinary Center, and read some reviews and thought this might be a good place to clean the teeth of my 6 years old Yorkshire terrier. It turns out to be a nightmare and almost killed my dog. When we brought my dog to the center, my dog is very healthy and has absolute normal blood test. But after I pick my dog up after the cleaning, my dog started to vomit blood and had lots of blood in his stool every day. His weight lose from 6.3 pounds to 5 pounds and won't eat anything. He is so weak and almost died. I talked with many other Veterinarians, they told me it's because of the anesthesia dose Bronx Veterinary Center used on my dog during the cleaning procedure was wrong. My dog is so tiny and only weighs 6 pounds. They used a large dose of anesthesia, which hurt my dog permanently. I felt so sorry for my loved dog and it's my mistake to bring him to this dog-killing hospital! read more

We finally were able to get our german shepherd puppy and like all of our pets, immediately took her to Bronx Vet on Webster. The technicians and vets are super great and very attentive to our pets needs. I would give it 5 stars but it's super hard to get appointments. If for no other reason then they are always busy. But with that being said, they try to accommodate walk in's to the best of their ability. read more
