I have lived in Joliet since 2001, and found Bronkberry Farms a few years back. Last year (after I bought all my garden plants from Home Depot) I stopped in to see what they had to offer. I was so impressed that I told Jennifer (the owner) I will be back next year to buy my garden plants from you. Fast forward to 2025. As mentioned, I went to Bronkberry Farms for my tomato, peppers and cucumber plants. For the past 12 years I have been looking for a tomato plant called the 4th of July. Until now, NOBODY has ever heard of such a breed. I talked to an associate at Bronkberry and she said 'Maybe ask Jennifer?' Which I did and right away she said 'YES! I've heard of the 4th of July tomato.' Right then and there, Jennifer stopped what she was doing, called her supplier and ordered a flat of these particular tomato plants. Needless to say, I was back the following week and bought ALL my garden plants. Including my 4th of July tomatoes. All in all I filled my garden with 4 types of tomatoes, 3 types of cucumbers, 3 types of peppers (sweet and hot), peas, basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme and even catnip for my little kitty. I will be an avid customer from here on out. Thank you Jennifer and staff for a very pleasant encounter. I'll be back for any and all gardening needs. The shop is very nice as well. Have a great growing season!! Kirk Lagemann

This place is amazing! It has everything you could want to run a really cute event! Last night I had an engagement party for my son. The place was clean and the decor there is fantastic. They have goats and chickens and all are great to watch. The hayrack rides were thrilling for the kids. The owners are awesome too! Book your next event there and you will not be disappointed.

We love Bronkberry Farms!! The fall fest was a great event and it was wonderful to see so many people attending it. The vendors were great and offered some awesome products. Also I couldn't believe they offered free face painting for the kids. My granddaughter was so excited. Then we got to the decorated tractor for pictures. What a great idea! No cost to get in and also can take some cute fall pics for free. Thank you to the Bronk family for doing this! Also I don't mind paying a little more for some beautiful pumpkins and to support Local!!

This was a great apple picking experience! The owner was very friendly and welcoming. I wanted some cute fall pictures as well as freshly picked apples and had everything on my list checked off! We got the smallest bag so we paid ten dollars for about 15-20 apples. They also had half a dozen of pumpkin doughnuts for sale, and they were delicious! Great place for families, dates, etc.

Dollinger Family Farm checked all the boxes, so we gave it a shot. I'm so glad I did because we had a very positive experience. We arrived on a Saturday right when it opened to avoid crowds. There were others there, but distancing was so easy. There were signs everywhere about wearing a mask and there was also a hand-washing station. We noticed a lot of other farms that are an easy drive from like Chicago did not take this pandemic seriously at all, so we loved supporting a farm that did take it seriously. We looked a bit at the animals--so cute!--before heading over to look at the pumpkins (AKA the main event). They had a tractor set up with a bunch of assorted squash for the perfect photo op. Then, pumpkins were sorted into piles based on size with a sign with the price. For example, a pile with $8 pumpkins. I believe the most expensive were $12. We selected two $8 pumpkins that were huge! My only suggestion would be to actually label the pumpkins with prices. The people in front of us in line picked a pumpkin from the $9 pile, but the employee insisted that this was too big of a pumpkin to have come from that pile. She said sometimes customers move the pumpkins around. I don't blame the customers for being a little frustrated because they obviously picked their pumpkin with the price in mind. We were worried this might happen to us, but they did not question when we told them we picked $8 pumpkins. The service was excellent. An employee actually took our pumpkins and we could drive up to pick them up before leaving. It was so helpful not to have to carry these huge pumpkins over to the car ourselves. We will definitely be back next year!

When you initially walk onto the property there's a sight that has an arrow pointing towards the direction of the store and another arrow pointing towards the direction of the ticket booth. I didn't go to the ticket booth so I'm not sure what that area entails. This review will be restricted to the store and their pumpkin patch selection that's located out front. I really enjoyed the store. They have a bunch of treats and knick knacks available for purchase. I ended up buying 1/2 dozen of donuts. 3 were apple cider and the other 3 were their pumpkin donuts. The pumpkin ones were pretty tasty, but their Apple Cider donuts take the cake by far. So delicious! As far as the pumpkin selection out front I thought it was a little sad. I found much healthier looking pumpkins at Walmart. Overall, it's a cute place to bring your family especially during the holidays. Will definitely be back for those donuts!!

Parking was easy (free, and roped off sections on gravel/dirt and there were greeters who welcomed folks at the entryway and helped point people to the direction they want to go (concessions - straight ahead; apple picking - to your left; ticketed activities - to the right). I had looked at their website beforehand to check their apple varieties available for picking and when we arrived, there was pleasantly more available than I was expecting (all of this is seasonal of course and dependent on Keller's and lots of other factors). We were two adults, two grandparents, and one toddler. Kids under 4 are free. You must purchase a plastic tote as your entry ticket, and we opted for the 1/4 peck (approx 3 lbs of apples) at $11 each. We had a blast wandering the orchard and there were plenty of signage and staff located at different sections to help answer any questions. We really liked the Rosalee apples! After we wandered and picked and ate as we went, we got some hotdogs, cider donuts, a pretzel & cheese, a cider slushie, and kettle corn from the concessions stand. We relaxed at some picnic tables (uncovered, no shade) which was fine for us if you don't mind being in the sun. There is a shaded picnic bench area, but only available if you purchase tickets to the "farmland" activities area. There is also a pumpkin patch to bring home your pumpkin(s) of choice but we didn't get a chance to check out the patch while we were there. Heads up, the bathroom situation is port-o-potty's only so plan accordingly. Some tips would be to bring a wagon or a stroller that you don't mind pulling across fallen apples, damp grass, mud/dirt, etc. Or, bring a bag to keep your stuff in, like a water bottle or snacks/food if you plan to picnic. Rain boots for kids would be a good idea. Pets are not allowed. All in all, we had an amazing time and would love to come back soon. Their staff are really friendly, the prices are fair, and it's a great weekend family-friendly activity. Sit on the giant red Adirondack chair or take a photo in front of their butterfly painting on the side of their barn. Five shining stars for Keller's Farmstand.

To me, dunking on a small business is usually 'no bueno', but after two visits to Johansen's fall petting zoo I find myself wondering "THIS is what we paid for??" Very few things are truly free these days, and I get that, but admission to Johansen's does not fall in the realm of good value. Located along Boughton Rd in Bolingbrook, Johansen's is open during the spring/summer as a nursery and farm (April-July), during autumn as a pumpkin patch, and briefly in the winter to sell Christmas trees. On busy weekends in October, police have a lane blocked off to shepherd traffic in & out of the parking lot. On that note, parking is free, thankfully, as is walking around their pumpkin patch. I saw a review from 2017 - a mere seven years ago - that mentions admission was $13.50. It's nearly doubled since that time! $23 allows you to feed the goats, enjoy a small corn maze, hayride, a "train" (actually just a bumpy trailer pull with tiny, uncomfortable carriages), and rinky-dink mini golf. Kids have to be 42" to bounce on the myriad inflatables, however, anyone over 2yo is full price. How many 2-4 year olds have you met that are 42" tall?? Apart from Kareem Abdul Jabbar's kids, how about NONE. I'm sure Johansen's knows this, so they're screwing plenty of people with this sneaky little exploit. The pumpkin patch is nice; we found an orange specimen that was a solid 9/10, with everyone in my group agreeing it was the roundest and most picturesque gourd they'd seen in a long time. Apple cider donuts are decent and you can buy hot cider at their bake shop counter. * TL;DR * Johansen's fall festivities are cute, though you get shockingly little for the money. You'll have to pay full price for your 3-year-old, but due to height restrictions on their bouncy houses, they won't be able to go in. Adults aren't allowed on inflatables, ditto for the ponies. In fact, grown-ups will spend most of their time standing around, which I can do for free at home (or literally anywhere else). Oh, but don't despair, as you can join their fanclub for a whopping $1 off general admission! *sprays confetti* gee, thanks guys! My wife likes them because they're local, but sorry honey, I'm done-zo with Johansen's. We'll take our annual (free) picture on the hay bales, but if it's my money we're spending, next year we're making the trip to Bengtson's.
