I had a fun experience here! I think this is definitely a pumpkin patch that kids and young adults can both enjoy. This is a pretty big pumpkin patch, so there's plenty to explore and do. I went on a Saturday with my family which included two toddlers. It did get pretty packed, so getting there earlier the better, or just coming on a weekday if you don't want to deal with long lines or overcrowding. The Apple Cider and Apple Cider Donuts were delicious! I honestly wanted to come back here just to buy some more. They have plenty of other drink and snack options, too. The staff was pretty nice too. There's many things to do like a swing ride, petting zoo, and hayride -- all very fun. I will say, $40 per person is pretty steep for a pumpkin patch. We have been going to Bengstons for years. Every year it has become even more significantly over crowded. This past weekend will be our last time visiting. It was an absolute nightmare parking at the ends of the earth. Then a line to get in, a line for every ride with minimum wait 1 hour and averaging 2 hours, line for bathroom, 1 hour line for a drink, line for the petting zoo. My kids rode 5 rides between 1130 AM and 745 pm after paying 40 each. It seems like the owners are more interested in collecting the money for tickets instead of ensuring the crowds are not out of hand. We could barely walk without being constantly bumped in to. Unfortunate because we typically go 2-3 times over the summer and 1-2 in the fall. Once an absolute must family experience but would highly recommend to bypass this place. read more

Bengtson's was far too overcrowded, which made the entire experience overwhelming. The wait times for the rides and even the petting farm were 45 minutes to an hour, so my kids were only able to enjoy three rides before we had to leave. They were extremely disappointed, and I was upset that we didn't get our money's worth. I understand it's a popular fall attraction, but I don't understand why so many tickets are sold for one day when the crowds clearly exceed what the rides and attractions can efficiently handle. 2nd year coming here and it's such a marvelous place for the kids! So many activities and rides to choose from for different ages. Different food trucks and set ups to choose from. Just a lovely fall time! We went on their last day of the season (Nov 2nd) and had a good time. My friend and I went with her son who is 7 months old and were able to get on the tractor rides. We agreed to come towards the beginning of the season next time just to enjoy ourselves a bit more in warmer weather - especially w a baby. We'll be bringing him next year as well so I can check in on the differences with different aged kids. There were plenty of places for photo ops, a little haunted house, little kiddy rides that although the lines are long, they move pretty fast, pig races, and hay rides. We always love Bengtsons! Our 3 year old always looks forward to the dancing/talking chickens and pumpkin. He also loves the tractor ride, rooster/chicken one, frog and bee ones, and train. Other favorites include the animals, the pumpkin cannon at the beginning of the tractor hay ride, corn pit, and the spots to take pictures with your face in the hole. Bengtson's fall fest was amazing! It felt like more of a theme park than a farm. Don't sleep on the apple cider shake-up which comes with an apple cider donut! The donut wasn't too sweet, and the apple cider shake is actually a frozen drink with a layer of vanilla soft serve in the middle which makes it taste like a delicious apple creamsicle! There's a stand to order right by the hayrack ride. It was worth the $11. My partner had to run away from a bee that was chomping on the donut which I found hilarious. That's how it is on the farm. When we arrived around 11am on a weekend there were plenty of free parking spots with attendants there to direct you. It's a few minutes walk to the entrance and we didn't need to wait much once we got to the check-in area. It was $40 per person which wasn't too bad since all the rides are included. We got uncle bub's BBQ chili cheese fries and brisket sandwich which were both delicious and came out really fast! Once you pay you just stay up there and the food comes out quick. We took our trays to the seating area where there was a live music performer who was doing really nice covers of classic songs! It was a great start to the day. There were workers that were routinely cleaning the tables as spots opened up which I appreciated. My favorite was the petting zoo. There was a main one which had a long line but we went to the small one which had no line and plenty of goats and some alpacas! Bring $5 cash to get a cup of sliced carrots to feed them. The goats were a bit aggressive but the alpaca was very gentle and friendly. The lines for food and rides weren't too bad when we got in, but crowds quickly grew later in the day. I definitely recommend coming around 10 or 11 to avoid some of the crowds. The swing ride and barrel ride were really fun. We got to see the pumpkin chucker during the tractor pulled hayride. We picked up some small gourds and bought some fresh churros on our way out. They're cooked in beef tallow so it was extra delicious. For the rides if you have small children you should check with the attendant for height restrictions. I saw some people waited in line only to be turned back because their kids weren't tall enough. The restroom situation is all portapotties but they did have actual hand washing stations outside. A lot of the soap dispensers weren't working but usually you could find one that worked or just push really hard on the dispense button. I can see why many people come here as a family tradition, and I'm excited to come back next year! read more

The food and beverage options were great including the apple cider slushy. The pumpkins were plump and picture-perfect for carving or decorating. Their animal area's are super clean and bright filled with friendly alpacas, sheep, goats, cows, and chickens. If I had to nitpick, the entry cost felt a bit steep, and the park could use a few more attractions to make the experience last longer. I feel like this is a place that everybody should go at least once! Even though it can get pricey at $30 a person for the entrance tickets + an extra $20-$30 per person for the cost of food if you get a meal and snacks, I feel like the overall experience is worth the price! Especially so if you have little kids because there are so many family friendly activities throughout the farm! My favorite activities of the day were the mini-rides, the giant dried corn pit, the live music at the lunch pavilion, and the petting zoo (where you can feed the animals for an extra $5). My favorite food items of the day were the roasted buttered sweet corn, the warm cinnamon pretzels from the Auntie Anne's food trunk, the chicken tenders and the chili cheese dog! We also tried the cheeseburger, Mac and Cheese with brisket, the steak tacos, the apple cider donuts and felt like these items were all more standard. Overall you can easily spend a good 3-4 hours here enjoying the different activities and trying out different food items. You can get a stamp on your wrist to re-enter the farm on the same day later in the day. Definitely worth checking out! read more

We had an amazing experience at Bengston's. I have a 3 year old son with profound autism. When we first got there, I took my son to the first ride and he did not tolerate more than 30 seconds of standing in a line. My heart broke for him as I wanted him to have the same experience as his 5 year old sister. While dealing with a meltdown, I asked a nearby booth if they offered accommodations for special needs children. We were directed back the admissions building. I spoke to a very nice worker who had me fill out an application, present his IEP, and we were given special accommodations. We were able to go on every ride immediately and forgo the line. We did not take advantage of these accommodations and went on every ride only one time. But this made my 3 year old feel included and able to enjoy the rides without the meltdown in a line prior to going on every ride. I am so grateful to the staff for being so sweet and accommodating when I presented our special wristbands. And I am grateful to the patrons for understanding my special guy's needs. Bengtson's is officially open for Summerfest! This is the first summer they are offering programming from Friday, June 14-August 4. It is cheaper, less crowded, and just as much fun! We arrived right when it opened at 11am and went straight to see what they had for morning snacks. They have a strawberry donut instead of the apple cider donut...it was so scrumptious! You can also get it in a shake, but we weren't prepared for that big of a snack yet! Next we were off to the cow spinning ride, which is fun for adults, too! We rode twice and the second time was extra spinny sitting in the back. Special shout-out for the staff letting us ride twice in a row since it was slow! Our other favorite ride is the airplane spinning swing. Once again the fabulous staff let us stay on for a second ride since it was slow. So fun and a great view of the entire farm and surrounding area. Next we were off to a huge crowd pleaser: the Pig Races! During Saturdays at summerfest, the pig races happen at noon and 3pm. Since this is such a riot of fun, be sure to plan your day accordingly! Lunch time is always a highlight at Bengston's! We got the Summerfest kolsch ale from the Tipsy Cow (a delicious beer made in collaboration with Skeleton Key Brewery). We got lunch from our favorite food spot: Rustic Knead. We get the El Ranch roast beef and the Caprese sandwiches and share them. So yummy, fresh, and refreshing! Chips are always a great pairing! Other highlights: hay rack ride, petting zoo (with lots of babies this time of year), Photo Booth, Happy Camper coffee stand, candles at the gift shop, and kettle corn to go! We packed all of this in before it started heating up later in the afternoon. All this to say, if you enjoy Bengtson's, don't miss out on this awesome opportunity to experience it over the summer. Halloween Disney. I'm sure this place is held in fond memories for a lot of folks, but it is a lot. We arrived about 15 minutes before they opened, on a Friday. Before the clock struck 11 (opening), there were hundreds of cars and hundreds of people in line to get in. It took about 30 minutes for the line to cease to be a line (when you could then just walk into the entrance and someone could help you almost immediately). Beth is the person who let us in and she was really rude. She asked how many in my party and I told her two; then she asked how old the kiddo is and if I bought a ticket for the babe to which I said no since she's under two years old and is free, and she said well that's why I asked how many are in your party, so I asked if she wanted to know how many tickets we bought... can you just be clear in your communication and not rude when people are confused by what you're asking? The folks we were here to meet had entered about five minutes before and were waiting for us inside, but had gone through the same line and also said she was rude. There's a lot here, perhaps too much if you're easily overstimulated. I could not imagine visiting on a weekend day. But not a ton of this was stuff that our kids could do, because they're both under 18 months and most of it is geared toward older children. There are at least half a dozen rides, and it's nice that they're free since it costs $27+ (in 2024) to enter. There are animals around (we saw some cows, a pony, goats, piglets...). There's a little hut where you can take a complimentary photo and have it sent to your phone via SMS. We saw a booth for face painting, and there's a place where you can kind of pan for treasure (not gold)--you buy a bag of dirt, of which there are four different options, and then get some goodies. They have pig races, which take place on the hour and was fun (plan for about 20 minutes from start to finish). There's a general store which is not at all ADA accessible or stroller friendly; there's about 10 steps to enter. There's a hayride and maybe the animals situated throughout the park aren't the petting zoo but it's in another area of the place, in which strollers are not permitted so we couldn't visit. There's a corn pit where kids can play around, and that would have been fun but my kid is young enough that she still puts everything in her mouth so next year, maybe. There's a playground, but we didn't go in there since ours are still learning to walk. The pumpkin patch was disappointing, to say the least. What they call the patch is a section of field where they've placed a bunch of pumpkins. You're not in an actual pumpkin patch, where they grow. There are a couple small tractors here, some picnic tables, some backgrounds to take photos with. There are some backgrounds and photo cut-outs scattered throughout the rest of the park as well. There are a lot of food booths from which to choose. You can find barbecue, pizza, apple cider donuts, alcohol, beverages, pretzels, tacos, and more. The loaded chicken elote was pretty good and something--perhaps the pizza--smelled delicious. I'm not sure if they allow you to bring food in or just don't question it, but I brought some food for my little one because she's somewhat picky at the moment (and is of the age where whole milk is a staple of her diet, but they don't have that here) and I needed to be sure she'd eat, but she gobbled the elote down too. It's pretty gross to me that they only have port-a-potties here. There's no way you could convince me that with the number of people they have here in a single month--hell, even a couple weekends in October or summer--they don't have the money to put in flush toilets. They have a sink-like thing near the portable toilets so at least that's good, but the portables gross me out... and some of them are sitting on an angle. I can't say we won't be back. You couldn't pay me to visit on a weekend though, and I might select a day earlier in the week than Friday next time. But I'm not sure if I'll come back for a year or two... it depends upon whether my daughter grows 7 inches in the next year because I know at least some of the rides had a 39" minimum. If not for my friend wanting to go, I would not have wanted to go this year because there just isn't much for children under 3 or so to do here, and it's not a place I needed to go for my own amusement. read more

Such a fun fall outing for family. There is something fun to do for all ages. I will say that this might be easier to with children 4 and older. You can spend an entire day there. For a toddler they might get impatient waiting in lines and the crowds can get overwhelming - maybe go on a weekday that is less busy if going with toddlers. But highly recommend- the train ride and hay ride. There is also a playground. There is tons of options for food but again if going with a toddler plan to hit lunch spots a little before lunch rush. The pizza was so fresh and tasty. The cider donuts were fully and perfectly sweet and spiced. There are tons of fresh ciders and ale options as well. We didn't get to try the bbq place but it smelled divine and really good. The pig race was a quick fun watch. Ever go to a place expecting one thing but then realizing it's much, much more?? I've been to many a pumpkin farm, but Bengston's is on another level. Pick from theme park rides, tractor rides, pumpkin canons, petting zoo, haunted barn, pig races, and my favorite - the corn pit. With so much to do, you'll have a hard time deciding on what to do first and where to end. The general admission covers most everything unless you want to buy feed for the animals. It's nice that they have carrots for the animals, and they're seemingly well taken care of. The pens are clean and well-maintained, and there were no flies constantly buzzing around the animals unlike other places. There are a number of different food options available across the farm for kids and adults. You'll find BBQ, sandwiches, beer, snacks, cider, kettle corn, and more. Of course, there's a store that you can buy merch, soap, toys, etc. I could go on about everything that Bengston's Pumpkin Farm has to offer, but that would take some of the fun away from discovering the fall season magic on your own. I've been visiting this farm for years and have always had a great experience, but my recent visit was disappointing. I purchased my ticket online but accidentally entered my email address incorrectly, so I never received the e-ticket. When I arrived, the staff member at the entrance asked me to buy another ticket. She kindly mentioned that I could speak with the manager at the end of the day to request a refund for the original ticket, since my name did appear in their system. Later that day, I spoke with the manager, who said the original online ticket couldn't be refunded. I also asked about the second ticket I had to purchase, but was told it wasn't eligible for a refund since it had already been used. I completely understand that the mistake was mine. However, had I known my original ticket was still valid, I wouldn't have bought another one. In the end, I paid $56 for a single admission. I've emailed the farm to explain the situation but haven't heard back yet. I hope they'll consider refunding the extra ticket--I'd really appreciate their help. I'd rather give negative stars. My family and I have been going to this pumpkin patch for 20 years. It was our favorite until this past year. The old country farm feel is gone. The pumpkins are not the focus anymore. The staff is rude and dismissive. It has become a glorified Disneyesque amusement park without much amusement at all. Lines are long. Prices are high. Hornets are on the attack. As stated by many reviewers, this isn't the place to take your kids unless you want to wait hours for just one ride. They used to have it right, but new management took over and totally missed the mark. I feel that once you lose your traditional feel, that means you lose your returning customers. I'd never go back and recommend you don't either. There are several other affordable and fun old-school pumpkin patches still around the Chicagoland area that are more suitable for finding the Great Pumpkin. This year I decided to visit a pumpkin patch with my kids. I have a teen and tween and I wanted a place where they would both have fun. Did a lot of research since there are so many options during the fall. I decided on Bengtson's. We had been there 8 years prior but the day we went it was later in the day and it was cold. Plus my daughter was little and we did not stay long. Fast forward 8 years and we decided getting there first thing in the morning on a sunny and mild fall day. We got there early enough so we got a great parking space and there were no lines to get on the rides. This place is massive. Be prepared to walk. Lots of things to do. Petting zoo, mini haunted house, rides, pig races, great photo ops and you must get your picture taken at the photo stand for a great keepsake. The food options were also pretty good. I had an elote cup with steak and my kids had food from the BBQ place. We had churros and donuts for dessert. I indulged and also visited their bar. Yes, they not only have a coffee stand but they also have a BAR.!! The admission can get a bit pricey for a big family but in my opinion it is totally worth it. We've been going here for over 25 years and it has exploded in popularity. It always was a fun place to bring the family around Halloween: choosing pumpkins and going in the little scare house. It was basically just a little seasonal stop for kids and families. As it grew, busloads of children would come from the area schools; and that even got bigger as they expanded the offerings, put in some rides, and really made it a destination stop. Today it is a pay-to-enter kind of event, but well worth the money. You can walk around, enjoy the scenery during Fall, buy some pumpkins picking them out yourself at a number of locations, and hop on some carnival rides for the kids. This place is kid friendly: strollers welcome as well as little walkers. Lots to do for the family, and really a must see kind of place during the Halloween season. Wear outdoor shoes because sometimes the weather makes for mushy ground. Comes with a very large parking area in the fields on both sides of the street. Come prepared to walk. Recommended. read more

If I could give negative five stars, I would! It completely ruined our family's day. Today, I visited Bengtson's Pumpkin Fest with my two children. We paid almost $150 for our family of four. We arrived around 2 p.m., and the place was already overwhelmingly crowded. The only things we could do were wait over an hour to ride a tractor-shaped attraction and then spend more than two hours waiting to get on the Wave Swinger, which was featured on their website's main page. The primary reason my kids wanted to visit was for this swing ride. Our family finally got seated, but then we had to sit on the swing for over 20 minutes due to a shutdown. Eventually, the ride stopped, and my eight-year-old daughter, who had been so patient, began to cry. By then, we couldn't stay any longer. Every attraction required an hour or more of waiting, and the entire park was packed with people. We requested a refund, but the staff repeatedly responded with "no refunds" and "no re-entry," without any apology. Even when we mentioned that the swing had stopped while we were on it, the staff at the entrance dismissed our concern, insisting the ride was operational. They suggested that waiting was our choice and that we could continue using the attractions until 8:30 p.m. It was clear that the park had allowed far too many people in, and our family received no meaningful service. I've never waited this long at Disneyland or Six Flags. I simply wanted to create a memorable day with my kids during fall break, riding attractions and enjoying our time together. I won't be visiting here again. They charge $35 per ticket yet seem to allow more guests than they can handle without considering the experience they are actually providing. read more

Bengtson's is currently my favorite Pumpkin patch. We went the Sunday before Halloween on a dreary muddy day. I'm not sure if this was why but the place WAS NOT busy. The entrance fee was a bit expensive around $30 per person but this includes unlimited rides. My son is 2 and was able to ride a few things with an adult and he had a great time on the train and tractor. We never waited over 5 minutes for a ride. There was a corn pit he absolutely loved playing in and lots of decorations for him to ohhhh and awe over. Four hours went by in a flash. There was lots of food vendors but we did not try the food. They had pavilions with picnic tables and a folk artist playing though so you could purchase your food and have a place to sit and enjoy chill music. It made me really sad. It was so overcrowded. I wanted to take my family for a nice family outing and memories. We stood in line with my 5 grandchildren all under 9 for 45 minutes to go on one ride. We then walked to other places and the lines were all still 45 minutes or longer. I took two of my grandchildren 5 years ago here and we took our three kids when they were little here all the time. It was so Fun back then and not commercialized like it is now. I know my feedback doesn't mean much but I never give a bad review for anything. It's just sad when you look forward to something and it turns out to be a bust. read more

I loved this place! It's fantastic fun for the entire family! The ticket prices are steep, but when you're voted as a top pumpkin patch/farm in the state and unlimited rides are included with ticket purchases, then you can afford to charge the prices they charge. So many people I know come here with their kids each fall and I had to check it out myself this past weekend. It's definitely a very kid friendly place but you can also come with friends if you love feeding farm animals, taking some great fall photos and enjoying mild rides. Tickets to enter on the weekends are currently $27 per adult and it includes all of the rides. Children under 2 years old are free. We didn't have to make reservations and just paid at the entrance. They feature some impressive pumpkin decor throughout the farm, which makes for amazing photos. There were a lot more rides than I was expecting and overall the whole place is a lot bigger than I had anticipated. It's very well run, and there's no shortage of port a potties. You can easily spend 3 hours here (dining included) with young kids. My favorite was feeding the farm animals- they have cows, goats, alpacas and llamas. You can buy a cup of carrots for $5 to feed them, which is a must do in my opinion. There are a few dining options inside, including bbq and tacos.
