Only one person dealing with customers taking money for softplay and orders for food all at once, hence the long queues.
    Paul E.

I too want this restaurant to survive and prosper as it is different and offers local mums a soft play facility. I read the previous review and others on other sites and all seem to moan about the food. I wish I had got that far. Despite checking the website before we left home, I was confused when I walked into the restaurant as there was a long queue but almost noone sitting at any tables. I dutifully waited in line for about ten minutes before asking the owner for the childrens' menu. The normal menus were available by the queue. The owner told me that there was no restaurant food until after 5pm and that the queue was for the softplay only. I asked her how I, as a customer, would know this as there were no signs or anything to stop you queuing needlessly. She replied "Its on the website". Well, firstly, I wasn't on my computer I was standing in her restaurant where you might reasonably expect some information - especially if its going to operate differently to the normal model of come in and be seated. Secondly, I had been on the website and told her that I didn't see any indication of the normal menu only being available post 5pm. If you go there, you will see a few pages filled with text, like an essay. I challenge any customer to find the opening times for example. So, I took my family elsewhere, not having tried the food. I did ask the owner if she had read the online reviews and she replied that she had but they had only been running a few months - I guess that is true but I'm not sure how many people would give the place a second chance. Overall, I was surprised that the owner herself would want a load of customers queuing with only one person taking the orders and that she didn't pitch in to help reduce the queue. Also, why she chose the inefficient method of taking food orders and payment for the soft play at the same time and place. Surely, let the parents pay for the soft play separately from ordering food. Fingers crossed that the customer communications and logistics for ordering get sorted before the customers dry up.

The simple, delicious beauty of the hamburger has not been forgotten by Gourmet Burger Kitchen, where several wicked and exotic types of hamburger can be eaten over a glass of good wine or beer and a plate of garlicky olives. The only question you'll raise at Gourmet Burger Kitchen is not why you are there, but how you are going to eat the massive burger that has just arrived in front of you. I prefer the grab-and-send-to-bottomless-pit method, but depending on your company you might just prefer to use a knife and fork. Their bacon and avo burger is scrumptious, but if you're not adventurous, so is their cheese burger. You must try Gourmet Burger Kitchen, and the sizeable Wimbledon branch is a great start.

If only.... The popularity of the GBK chain extends to this Wimbledon BRoadway location. On sunny days, they open out the front of the restaurant. They offer a range of different burgers, with different meat fillings and even some veggie options. They're all tasty though I've yet to figure out how to fit them into my mouth without spillage! Definitely not a first date place if you want to appear to have good table manners! I also love their proper milkshakes. Solid place for lunch, especially if people are choosy.

Probably the best burger in town, but for some reason this branch isn't as good as the city branch…read more Meat wasn't medium, more like well done, guacamole & tortilla chips kinda like what u get from the supermarket & the onion rings were too oily. It seems like Kingston uses different ingredients. Still ok, but only ok.

I'd been meaning to come here ever since I read about Byron serving the best burgers in London…read more What I got was a burger which was merely decent. I'd ordered a Byron burger (burger with cheddar and bacon served with Byron sauce) and really liked the sauce. What could have been done better, though, was having a choice about how the patty was to be cooked (they serve it medium and only medium here) and the bacon could have been fried to crisp perfection before being served. The burger comes with a side of either salad or fries. I opted for the former, and was surprised by how generous the serving was. The quesadillas we'd ordered for starters were quite nice. My only complaint is that we ate these far too quickly, what with one serving of six portions between four of us! While service was generally friendly, it was also rather slow. It took some time for our burgers to be served despite the fact that the restaurant was more than half empty the time we were there. With a rival burger shop just down the road, and given that that particular shop tends to have special promotions (one does need to stretch one's pound after all), I'm not sure whether I'll return to the Kingston branch any time soon. I may go to another one - perhaps the Soho one when it opens - in case it was just peculiar to this branch though.
