My omelette was outstanding. The biscuit was a little sweeter than I was expecting, portion size was generous, I couldn't eat everything. Outstanding staff ,great service , restaurant was very clean. I have eaten here for so long. Not this location, but the one in mid city where my husband use to work. I have always liked this establishment for their blueberry pancakes and French toast. That is what I used to order along with biscuits and gravy or chicken fried steak. Today at a location I haven't been to, I decided to be adventurous and order one of my favorite things to eat, smoked salmon on avocado toast. My problem with this avocado toast is the bread leaves something to be desired. It doesnt fit, it doesn't feel right. If they used a different bread, I would enjoy this more as I loved the capers and the salmon was not the best, but just enough. The avocado was good and worked well with the capers. I didn't really enjoy this dish. Since, I generally like the broken yolk, this place still gets a 4 star. My server was also excellent. He was kind, soft spoken, and polite. Unfortunately, this location has gotten down hill from when I first started going a few years ago. The food used to be very fresh, filling and delicious. The service was great! The wait staff was on top of it which they should since they have so many people. They have bussers, wait staff, supervisor and manager walking around. So there really should be no reason why you would have to look for people to ask for more drinks. The restaurant is a decent size and they have outdoor seating so there is plenty of seating. The only thing is it takes forever for someone to checkup on you and for you to flag someone down. Now the food, the plate used to come out looking really delicious and full. You would walk out most of the time with a takeout container because they served so much food which makes sense since they charged more than most other brunch places. Now the prices are still high but the amount and quality of food has definitely gone down. This is so unfortunate because I really want to patronize this establishment but there's nothing that makes me want to go back. They even changed the smaller portion menu rules. Now they don't let you have that deal on the weekends. I hate writing these kind of reviews but it really doesn't look like they are going in the right direction. Other Broken Yolk locations are much better. The presentation of the food is so much better, give more food and the food is fresher. I think the management team really needs to re-evaluate the way they are doing things at this location before they lose all their customers. (They are definitely less busy now) I've given them feedback on their app many times but it doesn't seem to help so hopefully this will help. I really want to have a brunch place that I can always recommend to others since this is my neighborhood. read more

I was in a party of 16 people coming from a memorial service and I feel as though Godofredo handled us all very well. Because of the size of our party, we sat outside on the patio, which was nice. It wasn't too warm of a day and wasn't too cold and they did have the heaters on. There come a point where I got too warm and I went inside and requested the heaters we turned off and the two ladies standing at the front very respectfully got it, turned off for me. I feel like overall the staff working at this Broken Yolk seem very friendly and harmonious. The food came out fairly quickly. Mine tasted delicious. Everyone else's looked very good. I didn't hear any complaints. This is my second time going to this Broken Yolk and each time has been a very good experience. My boyfriend and I wanted to have breakfast together and decided on Broken Yolk! All I can say is, the food and service were amazing. We decided to sit outside since the weather was nice and we got to sit where we had a nice roadside view. Theres lots of ceiling fans to keep you cool from the summer heat and was overall very clean. Our server, Chan, was incredibly friendly and gave amazing service--making sure our food was served fresh and that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. He was so kind and attentive, which really made our experience even better. We ordered the Nutella crepes and the build your own omelette. Both were so delicious and so flavorful! I especially loved how the Nutella crepes weren't overwhelmingly sweet. As for the omelette, they were very generous with the toppings we asked for. The omelette came with bread of our choice and we loved how everything on the plate wasn't dry. We both really enjoyed our breakfast and would definitely come back again! This is my favorite Broken Yolk location for the service and the quality of food :) I've been here several times for brunch, and it is always a good experience! I have tried the Border Benedict, the Sopes Benedict, and the Crunchy French Toast here! Border Benedict: This benedict comes on a corn cake, and is so interesting! I've never had a benny with this texture/flavor before. The beef on top also goes really well with the sweetness of the corn cake. Sopes Benedict: This is another fusion benedict with a different bun compared to a normal benedict, and is also really yummy! Crunchy French Toast: Really yummy! This is really sweet though and kind of too much to finish - it is a good option to order for the table if you are with a bigger group! I really enjoy this chain in general, but this is by far my favorite location! Their hash browns are the best out of all the Broken Yolks. I have been all over the US, from Oregon, Massachusetts, New Mexico and all over the south and eaten biscuits everywhere. I have finally found the world's WORSE biscuit. Over cooked, rock hard and taste like baking powder /soda not too sure. But Yuk. The restaurant is also a SYSCO lovers delight! Service was fine and the place looks like a typical breakfast place. Chan was our server. He was very attentive and hardworking. We appreciate him. This was our first time at this location. I loved the pancakes! Light and fluffy! I would order again! We ordered it as a side because we ordered entrees. Chose the MOM omlet - Spinach, mushroom, onion, red and green bell pepper. Topped with avocado, salsa fresca, and sour cream. I had mine with the salsa on the side, hash brown and rye bread and my Dad had the same except with salsa and a blueberry muffin. It was good, I especially love rye bread so it added another depth to my meal. We also ordered a side of bacon. Arrived just after they opened and only one other person. They had a M-F special menu. Looked good so I tried it. Two small pancakes and bacon. Good, I was still kinda full from a night of AYCE Korean BBQ. I upgraded to blueberry pancakes for $1. Got a coffee as well. Small pancakes showed up and they were still HUGE! Great staff, manager Chan is one of those great employees you don't want to let go. Gives a great face and personality for this location! Big location, very clean. Great experience visiting here for the first time today. We were visiting friends here in San Diego and was looking for a brunch plate to eat. This seemed like a great option for large group and we decided to try it. Service was excellent and the gentleman supporting our table was great. It was my first time at the Broken Yolk Mira Mesa and it's so nice inside! I think it's the only breakfast spot we have in the neighborhood. Our server David was had the best customer service and made sure my water was always filled and checked in on us which was great. 10/10 service. I love the menu! You have your traditional american breakfast, Mexican fusion, and sweets like crepes, waffles and smoothies. I was super hungry for brunch so I ordered the chicken fried steak, with gravy, 2 sunny side eggs, biscuit and hash browns! Please ask for them to be made extra crispy! If you do not ask, it'll be served soggy. The fried chicken steak was bomb, gravy was bomb and bush hit was bomb! 10/10 meal. All in all, I wish i've visited sooner! Today was a casual brunch at our local "diner" & I was in the mood for something sweet! My partner really enjoyed the chicken fried steak last time so wanted to order it again. - Chicken Fried steak ($18.95): The scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked. The chicken fried steak had a nice crunch underneath the gravy. We asked for the hash browns extra crispy (because that's the way we like them) and sourdough toast that came with super creamy butter. - French toast sweet trio ($17.95): This dish comes with their Tiki Toast, Crunchy French Toast, and cinna-cake. I wanted to try a bit of everything, but since I only liked the Tiki Toast, I wish I had just ordered that instead. It's not that the crunchy french toast or cinna-toast tasted bad. The Tiki Toast was just more unique, with the sweet softness of the Kings Hawaiian bread. There was nothing special about the bread in the Crunchy French Toast, and the cinna -cake was too sweet for me to add much syrup (and my favorite part of pancake eating is drenching everything in syrup!) - We joined their rewards program and got a free short stack of pancakes.
