This was the most disappointing "trail ride" experience I have ever been on. I would not go back if the owners offered me double for free. I scheduled our ride at Broken Bow. I received a confirmation email for a 10am ride today with a request to show up 20 mins early to help get the horses ready. We arrived 20 mins early, but the ride did not start until shortly after 11. The staff was standoffish and barely spoke to anyone, did not even introduce themselves even though my daughter and I were the first ones there. They did not even begin to get the horses ready until after 10:30. At 11am I asked how long the ride was, as I had to get back to work, and was told that the ride was booked and scheduled for 10:30 even though this is demonstrably not the case. There are no 10:30 rides on their website, only 10 am or 11:30, and I had an email confirming 10am. We ended up having a 20 min walk around a field, and the ride was over. The guide suggested I contact the business owners, and perhaps I would get a discount on a future ride. I would never go back there, nor recommend to anyone to go there and in fact took many pictures and plan on filing a report with animal welfare. Is there someplace on your website I can leave a review? There are no facilities, no restrooms, no indoors, no running water. The horses had no water, they were covered with cuts and wounds, their hooves had not been cleaned and were impacted with manure and dirt, their hooves badly needed trimming, and their manes were matted from lack of brushing. The guide asked who had experience riding, and only my daughter and I raised our hands of the 8 others that were there. He gave me a horse stating it was a good horse since I was experienced. Then, after having mounted the horse, he told me she was a brood mare who would rather not be ridden and that she might not want to go anywhere. I could actually go on and on with more, but have other things to do. These horses are poorly taken care of, customers are barely acknowledged, the facility was nothing more than a shed in a field in the middle of nowhere. read more

Trash was everywhere and the horses were in bad shape. Their hair was covered in burs, they were dirty, had sores, hooves in need of cutting, were obviously not groomed either before or after the ride and underneath the saddles and saddle blankets were more burs which is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS to riders. Some of the horses and dogs looked way underfed. I was by myself but there was 2 more sets of people that arrived. After waiting for over 40 minutes for David to attempt to round up horses from the pasture, which he still had been able to do, we all decided based on the condition of the horses and premises to leave. This place clearly does not care about their animals and it broke my heart to see the condition they were in. I hope these people get shut down. read more

Loved riding the horse and going around the ranch. It was beautiful. It was my first time riding the horse, and I was assigned to the "good" horse who knew the trail and didnt cause any problem. Also the girls were nice enough to provide me the stair thing for me to get on the horse easier. The thing that caused one star less was that I dont remember signing the waiver (might have been a checkbox when booking on their website). Also I wish when we arrive, people were a little more friendlier. They didnt greet us whatsoever. When I walked up to them, they just look at me without saying anything. After awkward silence, i asked if this is a right place, the guy just sat in his chair asking, "are you here to ride the horse? " umm obviously.. It was a little confusing. Also my fiancee got mad that the bottom of the car got scratched when going to the ranch since the roads were rough. I honestly didnt care but its true that not eveyone has a truck:'( Other than that, i truly enjoyed the experience. read more

My boyfriend and I went here and had a wonderful time. The trail guides were polite and informative and the land was beautiful to see. I wouldn't have called the horses "lethargic" like others have, more like they were calm, peaceful animals. I actually felt more at ease because they weren't wild and bucking around. I had a great time and would definitely go here again and want to take my friends with me next time so they can experience the tranquil beauty. read more

As a first time rider the handlers were extremely helpful and patient. Overly patient may I add. I was petrified and literally lagging behind for the first 10 minutes or so. Until I finally got myself together lol. I was overly impressed with the way they treated my 5 year old daughter. They made her feel extremely comfortable with riding the horse and the directions they gave was very simple. They ensured she understood, knew what was required and what each command meant. I would definitely try this again. It was a very fun-filled experience. Let's not forget the trail. So relaxing - felt like you were in your own little world with not one single care. Perfect for first timers and any age. My 8 y/o grandson had zero problems managing the horse alone. He even dismounted and walked the horse back to be tied up. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely ride again! read more

This place was absolutely horrible! The manes on the horses were clearly diseased. They are not taken care of at all. The grounds of the property is absolutely filthy!!! It was like a junk yard or even worse, a scene from a horror movie. On top of all of that there was no one to greet us and they were extremely late for the trail ride. My group and I felt so bad for the horses due to their condition, that we did not ride them and everything seemes so unsanitary. On top of all of that, one of the horses seemed as if it was lying dead on the ground. I am not exaggerating on the details. This place should not be a business. read more

Great experience! Great place to take both kids or to go as adults. I went with my significant other and it was a really cute experience. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. They teach you the basics of riding a horse for the trail ride. It was so easy and helpful! The trail ride is peaceful and the scenery is nice. We got a good deal on Groupon. It was fun to get out of the city and do something different. However, I wouldn't recommend this for kids or for people on a schedule. The trail ride part of this business is not operated like a true business. The employees were friendly but never introduced themselves or addressed the group. We started 45 minutes late and stood around while the workers discussed ranch business, which is the clear priority. The horses looked to be healthy, although most were covered in burrs. I'm assuming that is common with working horses walking through fields, I don't know. It did bother me that one horse had an open wound on its face. The trail leader asked another worker to come look at it, but her concerns were dismissed and she was told to put salve on it. The workers also commented on how tired some of the horses were (including the one they gave my 240 lb husband), and they did look lethargic hanging their heads, which made me wonder why they were making them go on the trail ride. My horse looked very healthy and had a very pleasant demeanor, but the poor guy was starving and constantly wanted to stop and eat. The area where we rode was beautiful, and we enjoyed seeing all the cows and calves in the pastures. My biggest concern, which really angered me, is the lack of concern they showed for our 7 year old daughter. After one scare, the trail leader took the lead on her horse, which was great and comforted me. However, she dropped the lead to pursue a dog that was chasing two calves around. That spooked my daughter's horse, which started going in circles and leaving the group, which terrified my daughter (and me). My husband was luckily able to grab the lead, but it could've ended badly. My daughter was scared & crying, and desperately wanted off. The trail leader should've made a child's safety a bigger priority over the calves. read more

The ride before us ran late, which pushed back our start time by 20 minutes, but our ride went the full hour. The trail leaders were high school students and a little unorganized but pleasant and conversational. Horses weren't the best groomed but calm and gentle for my kids, ages 9 and 6. The ride goes through gently rolling fields. Agree with other reviewers that the road to the horse stable was pretty rough with deep pot holes, which could be a real hazard for cars with low undercarriages. read more

We had a relaxing, wonderful family trail ride. The land was what most people would picture as "big Texas sky, and rolling hills." The horses were covered in burrs, and we had a hard time with that. The really sweet Lady, that took us on our ride had explained to us that there were burrs all over the pastures. They were a never ending battle. Once, we were on the trail, I saw how many brushes covered in burrs there were. She was telling the truth about the difficulty in keeping the horses burr free. In fact, my horse that I was riding seemed determined to brush up against any burrs he could find?! Also, I was a little surprised that we were required to wear no helmets, or head protection. Just an FYI, if you plan on riding there, bring your own helmet. read more

The staff is really friendly. It was nice, quiet, and peaceful. I was a little nervous about riding but the horses were very calm and they knew exactly where they were going. The road coming into the ranch is a little rough. I would recommend driving a truck if possible. Overall, it was a great experience and a great price. read more

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our little hour jaunt in the country. The horses were well taken care of and had pretty good temperments. Our guide was very nice and had plenty of interesting stories. My wife's saddle was a bit too large for her, but mine was just fine. Overall, a very nice trail ride. read more

This place is a rip off, I paid for a hour ride and got 30 mins. She was running behind and instead of taking the group who had been waiting she sent them to DQ and took off with us and she cut our ride in half. I paid $85 for 3 of us to ride a hour, when I confronted her she tried to blow me off saying I could have the same deal next time! This place does not have running water and the toilets are filthy and black in the commode along with dirt dobbers stuck to the toilets. Just disgusting. I wouldn't come back to this place if she offered me a free ride. We were not allowed to trot, gallop, or run at all, no nice trail just a boring ride that was cut short. I am demanding a refund today of half my money. The only good thing about this place is that the horses looked healthy. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you have to use the restroom. I would squat behind a barn before ide set foot in there so called restroom. read more
