It is a great place to take kids so they can get comfortable and familiar with horses and they can visit the goats and pigs! They also offer horse training and riding lessons and of course trail rides! You can book a trail ride online, they go for about an hour and are reasonably priced. All the trail guides are very experienced and tell you about the horses and the surrounding areas as you ride through the beautiful pastures. You're comfortable being told that your animals could suddenly "disappear." We were told this multiple times over the past year. After the farmhand's employment was suddenly terminated and he was given 10 days to leave his home on the property, we no longer felt safe leaving our animals at the stables. We began keeping a video log of our animals to make sure they were all accounted for because we were worried about what might happen when we weren't there. 2. You enjoy living life on the edge and walking by things that can fall at any time. Multiple barn lights have been out for some time, and some light fixtures are quite literally hanging on by a thread. 3. You're not particularly attached to your belongings. Our backup window AC unit, worth over $500, disappeared from the barn while we were moving out. 4. You love a good slip-and-slide. Water has been leaking from the ground for months, and people have slipped (myself included) while trying to get water for their animals. The solution? Cover it up with wood shavings! At one point, there were the cutest frogs living in the puddles. 5. You enjoy being blamed for things you didn't do. Sometimes we were blamed for incidents that happened when we weren't even on the property. 6. You appreciate a good double standard. We were yelled at for leaving the front gate open briefly while unloading supplies, while the owner and family routinely left that same gate wide open for hours on end when leaving the property. If any of these points sound appealing, then this is the right place for you! Honestly, we stayed as long as we did because it was the only place within our budget, and we saw that the farmhand did his best to take care of the animals. Now that he's no longer there, we bit the bullet and moved our animals out.

But Shadow got lame and no use to Ascend so she was left to lie (or in my opinion - left to die) alone in the mud. Long and ridiculous story, which involved us offering to buy Shadow for the past few months, to give her a happy retirement while she was still relatively ok. Ascend Camp left it too late and ended up donating her to us like this, nearly dead.
