Well, it wasn't. I got nervous, did not eat it and asked to see the ingredients- which were a giant powdered jar of brown sauce- 4th ingredient or so was what we are allergic to. Also, we had a nut allergy on our trip- what did they serve her? Nut roll. The food was not very good, even for those who could eat it. I'd avoid this place unless you're on a very tight budget.

What a crazy ceremony, but entertaining and extra fun because I'd never tried haggis (which was just fine, I might add). Admittedly, I had to seriously concentrate to understand what the Chairman was saying, most obviously because I'm Canadian and to me his Scottish accent was really thick. I still thought he sounded fantastic and it just added to the evening. My spouse was one of a few chosen in the restaurant to participate in the program, which made for some extra laughs. I really enjoyed the meal, casual atmosphere and hospitality. I wasn't staying at the hotel, but should I ever visit the area again, I'd definitely check out the events calendar.

Lovely B&B- Friendly and awesome breakfast!…read more A cosy and comfortable place to stay, tasteful decoration, and an amazing real log fire! All round it was a first-class experience. The room was spotless and everything in working order. Plenty of books, dvds to share in the hallway. Got a nice nights sleep. The hosts, Sid and Lucy were very accommodating and helpful when I had questions about the area. Will definitely stay here again when I return to Scotland. Thanks for a great stay!

After a long day of travelling we didn't have the energy to go find somewhere to eat so we just ate at the hotel. We ordered a couple of sandwiches and then finished it off with our complimentary cheese and crackers. Always such a nice touch. The service is excellent and the room was more than sufficient. Like I said though, there's a few things that could be refreshed. Our the finish on our sink was wearing off and there was a big crack in it and the shower floor could have done with a deep cleaning.

It's just off George Square, and within easy access to plenty of restaurants and shops. As for the room, while I think the black/glass look, there are quite a few issues with its amenities. First off, we got a first floor room which did not have any window. A windowless inside cabin. My husband said it's the first time he ever stayed in a hotel room with no view, however bad the view may be. Second, the room itself is small. Ibis and other hotels have small room too, but with better functional design. The restroom here has a large footprint, but there's no closet, just two hooks and a few hangers on the wall. In the restroom there was only a small hook enough for one towel, when they could easily have installed a rod or a few more hooks. The sink is so small it's challenge not to splash water all over. Last but not least, the bed sagged in the middle. Then again, the location is great, staff is friendly, so if you can overlook the small and dark room and don't plan on spending much time in it, this is not a bad place to base your travel.

Clean and tidy rooms, with the one I stayed in having a really big and comfy double bed and a decent shower. More than I can say for alot of hotels. Spacious room, with modern applicances that had a really grim view outside that looked like something from Resident Evil. The hallway smelled a bit like feet in some places which was upsetting and the lift was really really small. Doubt if you could fit two people in there with decent sized luggage to be fair. The keycard was also a bit temperamental. In sum, no hassles really. In and out. All you want.

I have never stayed here so wouldn't dare comment on the rooms or the service and so this review is off the bar alone, which itself is pretty good - small quiet and cosy, with an excellent beer garden. The Bothwell Hotel is a real homing point come a sunny day. Literally everyone ends up here, drinking cider on the grass, swatting away the bees and wondering how on earth we can be bothered with the wind and the rain we are normally lumbered with here in Glasgow. It's been here for years too which gives it a real sense of itself. It was formally known as the Country Club - most people, including myself, still call it this.

Our room was next to a door that was banging since early in the morning. The worst part was waking up with the fire alarm. We had to evacuate the building twice in a 10 minute slot, learning afterwards the fire alarm was caused by a shower in one of the rooms. Staff apologised for it, but I would have expected some kind of compensation for the inconvenience.
