This newly opened Deli in Altavista is has got it down right! This cute deli has a few tables for inside dining and some outside for people to sit. Went there for the first time an I have to say the food was very good! I had the steak a cheese with grilled onions a provolone cheese an it was one of the best steak sandwiches I have had! My aunt had the steak a cheese hoagie a she absolutely loved it was well. The portion sizes were great a the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you get! Everyone there is so nice and greets you as soon as you walk in. Such great customer service. I love how everything is open and you can see your food being cooked and everyone talking and making sure you have what you need. I highly recommend trying them if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed. The food is great the service is wonderful and the prices are well worth it.

We went through 3-4 cards for which their system wouldn't accept. Not declined for ISF because all had SF. But the system wouldn't recognize them as payment methods which several were major CCs. Thankfully the last one worked. We were told sometimes the system won't take some CC. Which again some we tried were major CC, which makes no scenes. Be sure you have cash on hand! If it weren't for the experience with their card machine I would have added another star, unfortunately these days having card payment methods available you absolutely need one that works properly and is up to date.

We were warmly greeted by the manager, John Wilcher, who was personable and took the time to share the history of the restaurant and walk us through the menu. We chose the Turkey Lurkey sandwich, which was piled high with delicious turkey on a fresh bun with bacon, lettuce, and tomato. We also ordered the potato salad as a side, and it was very good. We dined inside, and the dining area was historic and beautiful, with original artwork displayed on the walls. We left happy and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere.

I also got The Yardbird sandwich after the server recommended it. It's basically just chicken salad and lettuce between a ciabatta roll, but it was simple and great. And what the heck: I can't visit a bakery that has multiple sweets without getting one. I also listened to the advice of the server when she recommended the orange scone. She was right again! It was tender and tasted like a Froot Loop. Blue Sky is located on the corner of a busy street. There are lots of tables, but if you can, sit at the bar that looks out onto the street to see the hustling and bustling college town.

It's in Lexington, home of VMI, and the shop itself is diagonal from a post office built in 1911 with large columns lining its edifice. Sometimes, when college students leave great reviews, that means good food that isn't too expensive. True here, especially for what you get: generous servings on amazing bakery breads. I had the "Sorry Charlie" on a slice of focaccia -- topped with tomato slices and melted cheese and a satisfyingly crunchy, warm crust, with a simple but nicely refreshing black bean and corn salad. Dessert treats are also worth a splurge. The people couldn't be friendlier with customers of all ages enjoying themselves. (And they have a coffee bar. And a "speakeasy"!)
