Kyle met us when we arrived and was very nice and friendly. The parking area they had for us was a really pretty feild next to the store which was mostly flat and large, making for easy in & out for us pulling a 29' tt. There was a large deck behind the store with chairs and we had some nice downtime after driving all day, just sitting and listening to the sounds of the country. We had a very restful night. The next morning we had breakfast at Carters General Store & Deli which was really good, they had some of the smoothest great-tasting coffee! Best of all, owner Kyle sat and chatted with us and then other locals came and sat at the family-style table and joined us. It was such a comfortable, pleasant experience! I hope all the Harvest Hosts that we visit are like this one!

I have had a hard time finding an almond flavored dessert to satisfy my pallet but this place did the job. The service leaves nothing to complain about but nothing to get excited about. You form a line when you enter the building, order and pay before you are seated. It's a bit loud inside, I should there is outdoor seating, but if you like to ease drop you'll love sitting inside! The acoustics make it easy to hear everyone conversation no matter where they are sitting. I would not recommend the Duck Confit if you are hungry, the serving is more like confetti. Aside from the portion disappointment the Duck Confit was good. I've had 4 meals here and that is the only slightly negative thing I have to say. I will make it a point to come here again the next time I am in Roanoke!

They also have outdoor dining. My party of three all ordered different items from chocolate chip packed, oh my that cake is huge! Scrambled eggs, quiche and I had an omelette. I was not in love with my omelette unfortunately. It lacked flavor. My pancake latte was amazing! 3.5, rounding up. I will be back.

Their seafood dishes are my favorite like the shrimp alla rios over angel hair pasta or their crab and shrimp dip appetizer. Their avocado caesar salad dressing is also a must. You can tell they make everything from scratch which is incredible considering the large selection they offer! Bonus points too from my husband too for allowing you to choose either draft beer from the bar or a specialty can from their shop out front. His philly cheesesteak paired nicely with a beer from one of his favorite breweries, The Alchemist. Service is also friendly every time. The atmosphere is unique since you enter by the bakery and gelato counter, pass the small wine and beer shop and then reach the hostess stand for the restaurant. The decor may also be a bit dated but, trust me, these things are easily overlooked when you taste your meal! Going out to eat is expensive these days but Montano's offers a good value for exceptional quality.

There was a second couple sitting beside us and they explained this was the norm and hoped we got our order because they received their order, ate and left before we even got our beer.
