A Hidden Gem in Westport! I recently visited Brix in Westport, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations! This vibrant Latin restaurant has a cozy, intimate vibe that makes it perfect for date night or a fun evening out with friends. We started with their handcrafted cocktails -- beautifully presented and incredibly flavorful. For appetizers, we ordered the shrimp and potatoes and some fresh guacamole. Both were delicious, but the shrimp dish really stood out! For the main course, we had the Burrito Ahogado and the Latin pasta -- the pasta, in particular, was packed with bold, rich flavors and definitely a standout dish. Dessert was a fun surprise: they have the cutest little churro cart serving mini churros that were warm, crispy, and just the right amount of sweet. After dinner, we discovered their hidden speakeasy -- such a unique touch! The cocktails there were stunningly presented and added a fun, upscale vibe to the night. We popper in Thursday evening and were seated immediately. The garage door was open so it was so nice with a little breeze and some fresh air. This was my first time at Brix but it will not be my last! Our server was attentive and I really enjoyed the agua fresca, and their chips and guacamole were divine. Went with a friend to Brix last weekend before a show at the Uptown. First impression was the space was really pretty and very IG worthy. There was even a selfie backdrop. I had reservations for 6:30 and we were seated immediately (it was before things started to fill up). We decided to start with cocktails. She got the spicy margarita and I got the guava-rita, and we ordered some chips and guac. Everything came out pretty quickly and the chips and guac were good. Not sure rave worthy but still very tasty. I got the birria plate and she got the birria burrito. Again everything came out quickly since I'd put in a note about being on a schedule. Flavorful Food, Attentive Service, Urban Vibe We started with the Nachos ( with Carnitas ) and Calamari. We were hungry, but be cautious, portions are Very Sharable! Chips are more crunchy versus fluffy ( which is the only way they can support all the toppings! We all ordered from Birria. The burrito is flavor driven and the beef is tender and cheese melty ( it's meat and cheese in a delicious tortilla ). It comes with fries that kept getting sharked by my friends ( the fries are awesome ). The Birria & Noodles is just that, good but basic. QuesaBirria Tacos are Fire! For dessert we got the Churro Cart and the Brownie. Next time we are just going to get 2 Churro Carts ( brownie was delecious, but the churros are incredible ) Their cocktail menu is unique and crafted to compliment the food. I've been seeing this restaurant on social media and have been wanting to check out their food. Arrived here on a Friday night for an early dinner. This is a small quaint little restaurant in the Westport area. Upon entering the building there was a distinct smell. It turns out they are next door adjacent to a cigar bar. That's a minus point. I'm not too fond of the smell of smoke or cigar. They play Latin music in the background softly. The restaurant is decorated with Latin deco. Two seat table seating with lamp and vase of flower. Quite romantic. They serve fun cocktails that are a little pricey. A little weak in taste compared to other places. They also have flight of shots which was quite expensive. First time here and it did not disappoint! The chips & salsa were amazing, and the guac was the best I've had outside of my home or Mexico! They have a speakeasy in the back (which we got to peek in). We'll be visiting that next time for sure! It's beautiful on the inside and the service was good. I noticed right when I walked in how cute this place is. Loved the flowers, the greenery and the artwork. This is a small place so you probably would need reservations unless you come at an off time like we did. We came here especially for the birria. I've been wanting to try it for so long now. I ordered the Classico Jalisco which is birria with consommé. It comes with cilantro, onions, and salsa on the side. Also comes with corn tortillas. I loved it! The meat was so tender, and the consommé was very flavorful. I also ordered guacamole al pobre which came first. It was probably some of the best guacamole I've ever had. So fresh! Generous serving. The server said they just made it and make it fresh everyday. I just about licked the plate. I was very full but wanted to take home a dessert. Ordered the churros. Stuffed with cream cheese. This place has been on my list to try for a while. We finally came for Restaurant week and it did not disappoint. We got the quesabirria tacos meal & the Lomo Saltado (steak dish). Both were fantastic and filled with flavors. Both the restaurant meals came with apps (guac & cheese dip) and desserts (cheesecake & churros) . We also ordered drinks, which were great. The place itself is cute & cozy. The minor critiques, which is why I gave it 4 stars. The tacos did not have that nice sear that quesabirra tacos normally have. We checked out this new spot the other day and wow was I blown away by all the amazing food options! We ordered everything our waiter suggested. We started with the shrimp and potatoes which absolutely melted in my mouth. Next we ordered the Lomo Saltado which was ribeye steak with seared veggies and baked potatoes, red onions, and Brix sauce mix. We also split the Birria-dilla that came with a homemade salsa roja. Brix was a super cute place to try! It was a very packed Saturday night and we had a reservation, got sat at the bar for a 30 mins but then the hostess found us a table for 4 in the back! We didn't know there was a birria menu until we sat at the back so ask for that if you don't see it! We got the ceviche as an appetizer and it was a little bland but there was a lot of servings for 4. The calamari was perfectly chewy and crunchy and the tomato sauce was creamy. Came here on a Thursday night. I actually had a hard time finding it (Google Maps was being wacky). We actually had to stop and ask another place where it was located. Once we finally found it, we were greeted immediately and taken to our table. The first thing I noticed was the smell of cigars as we were being led to our seats. It was very strong! The smell eventually wasn't as noticeable after a while. This place is decorated really cute. Our waitress was fast, friendly, and informative. She recommended my drink, the Don juan, and it was delicious, i had two! My food was also very good, the birria tacos, such good flavor! The carne asada tacos were also good as well. I beans and rice were different, but they were fine. The guacamole tasted fresh, as did the chips. I didn't use the restroom but heard it has a very strong cigar smell. Also they have a back area that I didn't get to see, I think there was a Bachelorette party or something like that going on back there. I want to come back since the food, drinks and service were all above average. I also want to check out what's in the back and try other food and drinks. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this place. Stumbled upon Brix while walking through Westport the other day. They were just opening up when we got there, but they sat us right away and opened up the giant garage style door which was nice. We mainly wanted apps and drinks, so we ordered the calamari, and the spicy life margs. The calamari was crisp and delicious, and those margs were perfectly spicy with a zesty Tajin rim. Had to order another one! I will say, when we first walked in, it smelled strongly of cigars due to Fidel's right next door, but once the door was opened it wasn't too noticeable. Overall, the ambiance was nice, and I really enjoyed the music they played. The bartender, and man who seated us were so friendly, and I can't wait to stop by and explore the rest of the menu. Ah, Friday in Westport. It's been a while. The biggest change was the presence of a security force and parking restriction from midnight until 3am. Don't get caught within the barricades that start going up before midnight. I understand this was done in response to motorcyclists and ATV riders negatively affecting the district. On to a wonderful night of dinner and drinks. We were lucky to find on-street parking within half a block on Pennsylvania Avenue. Stepped up and into the restaurant and we were quickly greeted by a smiling hostess and led to our table. The main dining room includes a bar. Prior to being seated I was given a peek into Clandestino, the hidden speakeasy. We were seated in a smaller, separate room (less than 5 tables) that also had a bar. Or was it a continuation of the bar in the main dining room? We had a late lunch so just had two starters and drinks. We shared the Westport Flatbread (chicken, bacon, pesto) and Aguachiles de Sonora (aka shrimp ceviche). Both were delicious but the Aguachiles gets the gold. Nice subtle heat. I confess I also added red pepper flakes to the flatbread. We had the Dragon's Kiss and a Water Me Down margarita. Both were delicious. We then moved to Clandestino, which is hidden behind a green wall, where the cocktails are more inventive. We tried The Black Rabbit, The Alchemist, Obscuro and Cantarito de Jalisco. The last two were our individual favorites. Service was great throughout the visit. Special shoutout to our waitperson for the whole night, Olga. She was fantastic. We made a reservation, the atmosphere is very interesting with many details in decoration and areas to take pics, the food is excellent! We found ourselves at Brix in a Saturday night for an impromptu dinner. I'm not sure that anyone in our group previewed the menu, but we decided to give it a try as it was new (at least to us) and we were able to get a reservation. Plus, who doesn't like Latin American cuisine? We had great service while we were there and, as usual, started our evening off with cocktails which were delicious. Admittedly, we were a bit surprised by the menu. For a Latin American restaurant, there seemed to back a lack of Latin American dishes. Instead, there were many other American dishes on the menu. Because we were in the mood for Latin food, we decided to enjoy our cocktails and head somewhere else for dinner. Despite the fact that the menu through us for a loop, we really enjoyed our stop in here!
