Review on Sunday Brunch 2PM 3/12/17 Cliff Notes version at the bottom Bloody Cesar, Coconut French Toast, Cesar salad, Huevos Rancheros Brunch ends at 3pm on Sunday so by the time we got there the place was pretty cleared out. There are 2 sides to Britt's - the bar side and the dinning side. We sat in the bar side where they were playing 70s music videos and the atmosphere seemed more lively. Service was great and very attentive. Our waitress was really nice and let us sit for a while after brunch talking and did not rush us at all. Gave this place 3 stars because it was just that A-OK, nothing super special that blew me away but I would come back to try dinner or other brunch items. I also really like how farm to table it is and the inside is pretty cute. Nursing a hangover, we started brunch with Bloody Cesars. They came with super SOUR greenbeans and a slice of lime. They were not the best and you needed to give it a good stir to get all the ingredients mixed together and overall it tasted kind of watery. After indulging all weekend I decided I needed to eat a salad. I was expecting come croutons and Parmesan slices on the salad but the side Cesar came with lettuce, dressing, and 2 small prosciutto crisps. The crisps were salty and not the best tasting thing to me and the salad was just that, a side Cesar salad. I got the Coconut French Toast: Battered French bread, seasonal fruit topping, whipped coconut cream, icing sugar, maple syrup and toasted coconut. For $13 it seemed pricey for the 2 small but thick slices and without my drink and salad I think I would have left feeling a little hungry. The maple syrup was legit and the coconut cream and toasted coconut really made the dish. I LOVED it with the berries on it. It was a very sweet and sugary dish and I am glad I had the salad and fruit to balance it out The bread was a tad too thick I think (would have taken 3 thinner slices) and required a knife for getting through the crust. My date got the Huevos Rancheros: Grilled flour tortillas, chorizo sausage, baked black beans, ranchero sauce, sunny side up eggs, tomato, mixed cheese, green onion, guacamole and sour cream. He liked his dish but his only complaint was that he wished he got toast to go with it to help sop up the runny egg. He also did not like the guacamole because of the cilantro in it, so if you hate cilantro, let them know! The choizo was really good and overall it was very flavorful. He said he would try something different next time but did like this dish, but thought mine was better. I had a few bites and it was pretty good, but for me that is a dish I would have to be in the mood for; so if you like Huevos Rancheros, def try this version of it! Overall: -Bloody Cesar: Would not order again, green bean garnish was very sour, and drink was watery / lackluster -Cesar Salad: Meh. Not super impressed with it, would order something different next time. -Coconut French Toast: Very sweet, order a side of veggies or eggs to balance it out. Would order again. -Huevos Rancheros: If you hate cilantro, tell your server! Also, ask for a side of toast to go with it if you get the eggs runny. Chorizo is awesome and overall dish was flavorful. -Service was great -Price was more than I would have liked to have paid, but with it being farm to table, I understand -Atmosphere was great, LOVED the 70s music videos playing above the bar! read more

We stopped in about 9 pm not expecting much. We were impressed by the wonderful ambience of the pub. The wait staff was extremely personable and helpful. Great casual interior. Staff couldn't be any nicer!!! Just had a beer and chowder in the bar area. They have rotating local taps with a nice variety of about 8-10 choices. The chowder was ok, not a lot of seafood in it and the taste was quite bland. You get a wonderful biscuit with it and it really is enough for a meal! read more

Breakfast is served if you know what I'm sayin. This place has other food but breakfast is what I got. I think there's burgers and appetizers and stuff, probably mozza sticks and chicken wings or whatever else. There might be salads too I'm not sure I got breakfast right. So how would I know how the other food tastes if I didn't try it. The breakfast was breakfast you know. Eggs, bacon (f*ckin deadly), hash browns and the toast which is explosive as well. Today was the second time we attempted to eat at Britt's in the past month. A couple of weeks ago, we headed down on a Friday at noon hour during Burger week, knowing full well it would be busy. Once we were inside, it didn't appear there would be an open table. We stood at the entrance waiting to talk to someone. We weren't even acknowledged. Not a single staff member said hello, we are full, there will be a wait, nothing. We stood there with staff members breezing by us with not a single word. So we left. Ended up eating elsewhere. Today after work, we wanted to grab a drink before heading to another get-together. We decided to try Britt's again. We again stood in the entrance waiting to be acknowledged. Two servers walked by and one told us to hang tight. There were many tables available, about 15 total people on the bar side, nobody on the restaurant side. The server who told us to wait, went to the bar, made cocktails with another server, brought food out to another table, brought two bills to the bar, yelled across the bar to take another table's drink order, all the while we just stood there. We didn't have much time before having to be elsewhere. We decided to leave. We went to Cask & Kettle, got a table right away, drinks quickly, food afterward with plenty of time to spare. I've had work dinners at Britt's in the past and had great service, but these last two times have left me pretty unimpressed. read more

I don't give out five stars easily, but Britt's gets my vote. The food was great, atmosphere was great, great wait staff. I had a burger with a gluten free bun, cooked perfectly with lots of homemade condiments to choose from. My dad had the butter chicken with nan. Okay, so the pub fare was all over the map, but it was all good. We did order "fresh" spring rolls, with I was sorely disappointed to see were in fact wrapped in filo pastry and fried...not for the celiac. My dad ate them though and was quite pleased. He cut the spicy sauce by requesting ranch dressing and mixing the two. That would be my southern father for you. No reflection on the food, he puts ranch on everything. They had a nice wine selection and it would be a good place to go just for drinks. Seems like lots of locals go there and felt pretty hip. They have some nice paintings up based on the original artist whose studio it used to be. The new ones have various current community people in them and the artist himself. Our waiter told us all about them and that was a pretty fun story. I also thought the prices were quite reasonable. I travel for business, about a week a month on average. I eat at a lot of restaurants, and I use Yelp to help separate the wheat from the chaff. Over the past few years I have found some amazing eats in some very unlikely places. Tonight I found another gem. Britt's has served me one of the best pub meals I have ever had. Seriously. And I have eaten in a lot of pubs. The ambiance is above average, upscale pub with sandblasted brick and well executed murals. There was a game on the TV near. The bar but the sound was off, with music in its place. I pulled up a seat at the bar and the service was prompt, polite and attentive. I hadn't been really hungry when I left my hotel, but I knew that if I didn't eat I wouldn't be in good shape tomorrow, so I scoped out Yelp and drove 15 minutes to get to Britt's. It seemed that the Prosciutto -wrapped scallops were calling me. And they were magnificent, expanded to an entre with an order of vegetables that included red and yellow peppers, carrots, beans, and parsnips. The Hop City Barking Squirrel Ale paired this up nicely, enough so I ordered a second pint. And I followed it with the lavender creme brûlée, which was a risk that turned out to be totally worth taking. I finished it off with a single of Laphroiag, and called it a night. Britt's, you done good on this one. Five stars. Next time I am in Saint John I will definitely be back. read more

The temperature of the steak was a bit low which was also thrown off by the cold chimichurri sauce. The eggs were cooked perfectly and overall it was a decent meal. This was a truly memorable dining experience. My wife and I had stepped off of a cruise ship and decided to look for lunch after walking around town for a while. By chance, we stumbled on Britt's. They were busy during the lunch rush so we sat at the bar. We were immediately given menus and had our orders taken soon thereafter. My wife and I split a bowl of their seafood chowder, which came highly recommended by the bartender, a self proclaimed chowder snob. His rec didn't let us down. It was fantastic. Perfect creaminess combined with loads of fresh seafood. We also had the turkey poutine which was "thanksgiving in a bowl of poutine" as it was described to us. It was also very good. The turkey was flavored nicely and the stuffing complemented the home cut fries and brown gravy well. Food has no taste, my husband ordered the fish and chips and I am positive he was given frozen fish... tasted old, the chips were not even edible completely over cooked to a point they were hard. Haven't even got the food yet. Been waiting an hour for it. Worst service ever. Finally got the food, they messed up the order, the veggies were burnt. The eggs were brown. My mimosa was warm by the time my food came. They have 5$ drinks probably hoping you get too drunk to care about how awful the establishment is. Britts is incredible!!! I've been to St John five years in a row and we've gone to Britts each time. The stir fry is very good, as well as the turkey guacamole club. I would recommend the sweet potato fries as a side. The chocolate mousse cale and the brownie are delicious. I would recommend to go to Britts on a night that you have lots of time, since the service isn't the fastest. The food is great and the staff are amazing. read more

Arrived to a packed house on Friday evening. Fortunately, I was flying solo and managed to snag a seat at the bar. According to the menu, food is focused on delicious plates made from local ingredients. Selection was good but seems it would have been challenging if I was aiming for vegetarian dishes. I went with the special - asparagus salad with salmon. The spinach salad was peppered with asparagus, roasted red peppers, the perfect (small) amount of red onions, and Parmesan cheese and topped with a piece of grilled salmon. Very delicious. read more

Great service and food. Our server was so very friendly and a real joker. We had wonder food. Started off with a wonderful Taco chicken salad which we shared. Both of us thought it was so very good and tasty. Then ordered the most wonderful hamburgers with onion rings etc. Fries were perfect crispy on the outside and soft on in the inside. You can tell they were cooked in really fresh oil because they were not greasy at all. Half a pound of great hamburger meat cooked to perfection. Extremely clean and comfortable environment. It was not a noisy place at all even being a pub type atmosphere. If in St. John make it a point to stop in and enjoy a good meal. They have a wonderful menu. read more

Has breakfast there in the summer with my boyfriend, 10/10 would go again. I had a scotch egg with home fries which was salty and filling and tasty, he had a more traditional breakfast which he enjoyed very much. Pretty little secluded patio in the back. Good Caesars!
