I still enjoyed myself and took two loops around the curvy trail with very slight inclines and declines. There's a large play area for kids and a caboose set up on rails. The bench in the middle of nowhere Demanded it's picture be taken and I actually sat there quietly for a few minutes. It was very restorative I would return to this park to walk my dog on the loop.

Taking a really nice nature park and surrounding it with 5 story apartments and compact houses is seriously so out of touch. The ironic sign on the Quarry Trails community building especially kills me " Take nothing but a picture, Leave nothing but a footprint". How did they seriously hang that up?!? Columbus Metro Parks really dropped the ball on this one. I hope this bad idea doesn't spread to the other parks around Central Ohio. One of the things that has always been so great about living in this city, is that you can pop into one of the nature parks and feel like you've left the city. I've been to many parks around the area and they are all so wonderful. This one disappointed me deeply, because obviously when this land was set aside for a park, the person who thought to preserve it would have never wanted this.

Accessed from Scioto-Darby bordering its north, the park is tucked between neighborhoods, fields, and golf courses. Mark K. mentioned in his review circa 2015 that there was no easy bike connection between Homestead park and here. In the five years since that weakness has been rectified with an off-road bike path running down Lappert Rd. This is the way I cycled here. Just turn south from the Heritage Trail, left at the round-a-bout at Darby, and cross the street into the bike access. The park was eerily silent for the sunny summer Saturday I visited on my ride. Normally you'd expect the place to be jumping on such a gorgeous day, but the pandemic has damper things. Connected to that fact, the public pool here is closed for the year. Normally, the Family Aquatic Center, as it is called, would be full of swimmers using its leisure pool, sports pool, lazy river, slides, and children sections. Now it has a weird, abandon amusement park feel, with the rides sticking up like ruins over the wall, and ghostly echoes of screams, laughs, and splashes that should be here coming to mine in the quiet. What I call a 'sports park' the grounds hold fields for baseball/softball, lacrosse, soccer, and disk golf. Basketball courts and tennis are of course are found, as well as horseshoe ring. There is a small amphitheater and a large sledding hill half-mooning the grounds like a Native American mound. There are some art park landscaping here, especially near the fishing pond, a rustic body split by a wood bridge. There are several shelter houses here to rent. The running/riding trail isn't all that great, but it does breeze through the heart of the park. There are several connectors that leads to and from the surrounding neighborhoods. There is also a rustic food garden found here. On the east is a Veterans Memorial garden with colorful flowers, waving flags, and reflective stones ingrained with locals who gave the ultimate price. In all a good city park with lots of amenities, easy access, and just enough artwork to give it character.

Nearby is a solar picnic pavilion that generates solar power and offers great shade and picnic tables to take a break from all of the fun. There's a large pond near the parking lot, a memorial located behind the municipal buildings and police department, and winding paved paths that take you around to all of the sights and sounds of the park. The parking lot is good sized and offers some EV charging stations.

The flow of the falls will fluctuate a good bit, depending on the season or rainfall. When the water levels are low, there's not going to be much to see. But after a rain or snow melt, this waterfall becomes pretty impressive! The boardwalk can become slick in shaded areas. Keep in mind that you're directly behind people's homes & yards, so be respectful of the shared space.

You can find parallel off Main Street or you can drive into one of the side streets and do parallel. I've seen some parking lots but I'm not sure what they're for... It's cute though! Back then boating was our sole reason for going to Griggs. Only in recent years have I found so much more. In recent years I find myself at the park weekly for one reason or another as it is beautiful in every season. My boyfriend lives 3 minutes away, so we like to take advantage as often as possible. Sometimes we grab salads and tea for a lovely picnic. Other times we take a walk to check out the beautiful views. As I mentioned prior, our family boated her, so the fact that the walking path is along the Scioto River is what makes this park so special. The views are quite beautiful, everything from the power of the dam to the adorable ducks to the gorgeous homes just across the river. Other notes... The walkway is paved, unlike most other parks, so it is easy to navigate wheelchairs, wagons or strollers. There is plenty of parking throughout the park, including long spots for those with towing needs.

The only unsightly thing about the park were the racist comments spray painted on the rec center there. But as we were leaving, some men from the city were there to clean it up. There's not much room to ride in the park- great for kids, not for anyone interested in a longer ride. The paths connect to the Mudsock trail, which is mostly gravel. On the other end you can try to get to Hilliard Municipal park, which isn't much better. I recommend the many fine trails in other parts of central Ohio. In Hilliard, maybe start at Homestead Park and work north.

There's a creek here that they recently restored back to its original winding way and replanted native trees and plants. They also put a new bridge over it. It looks decent now. It had been just a straight trench filled with mostly stagnant water. In the 1800's the creek had been straightened for farm irrigation. Now it has been restored back to its original natural look. There's a paved trail that goes around the pond. It's good for joggers and bike riders or your kid's power wheels. There's plenty of parking here and a portapottie if you can stomach it. I usually just hold my pee.
