It is a family business which means there are kids, and an adorable dog. I love that about UTC. A family business knows how to treat another family. The lessons are wonderful. My kids have learned to defend themselves against bullies and are always smiling throughout the exercises. My youngest seems to really have blossomed as a fighter, which you would never guess to look at her. She is cute as a button, and a tiny thing with a lot of power. It can be a year contract for the cheapest overall plan and I understand that can be a deterrent but it holds you accountable. My kids are getting plenty of exercise despite the winter weather. There are month to month plans and I've never showed up to locked doors. I've been coming twice a week for a year, so I don't think this reviewer is credible. The owners exercise extraordinary kindness and guidance toward me and my girls. This place is a gem. Highly recommend.

The space is completely unpretentious and has a great, "scrappy" energy that makes you feel welcome the second you walk in. Coach Alex is incredibly knowledgeable--I spent half the time just watching her movement, which is so fluid and smooth. It's rare to find a spot that balances great technique with such an inclusive, easygoing environment. It was so easy to make new friends, and I'll definitely be back for more beginner sparring sessions with other queer women. Thanks for holding events like this! Pro Tip: Bring a mouthguard and 16oz gloves for sparring (and headgear if you have it!).

Been training here with a good friend of mine for almost 2 years. Love this gym. There's options…read morefor private lessons as well as group classes. Coaches all seem really passionate about what they do, and they'll definitely push you hard and test your limits every session, you just have to show up and be ready to put in work. Everyone I've met at the gym has been really friendly and supportive. Me being a smaller guy, I felt pretty intimidated at the start, but that feeling went away after I realized that everyone is there to improve each other. The only complaints I'll ever have for this gym is that it's expensive, ( If you're broke like me, coming here requires a bit of sacrifice ) but it's Seattle and I know the coaches gotta eat and cover their expenses for competing, which I'll gladly support. The mental and physical health benefits from training are absolutely worth it imo.

She gave clear directions and gently kept people accountable if they were slacking. The owner seems nice as well and tries to answer all your questions and be fairly flexible. The bad: similar to other reviews, they're very difficult to get a hold of. Between calls, fb msgs and texts it's a crap shoot if someone will respond. Not to mention the classes are pretty expensive. We did a test class that went pretty well but could never hammer out the details of joining since I rarely get a timely response if any. At this point I feel like I'm bothering them. Unfortunately we will have to take our business elsewhere.

We were here for about a year and nine months or so…read more Everything seemed fine. We signed a year contract to start. They told us it could be month-to-month after that initial year. That was not true, but they said they sent us a contract that we signed for the second year. We never did. They never sent it to us. Because of this contract that doesn't exist, they refuse to stop charging my credit card every month. I've had to file multiple claims with my credit card company and now I will have to replace my credit card because they keep charging. Before dealing with the credit card company I called dozens of times left messages sent emails stopped by in person multiple times. They don't return any communication I'm assuming because they want to keep collecting my money in the fraudulent manner that they do. I have a younger kid that I was gonna start in this gym in a year from now and I have recommended it to people in the past. I have since let everyone know that I do not think that they should go here. It's a trap and fraudulent.
