I responded to British Car Registration's advertised offer of a 'free written valuation' of my cherished number which was duly posted to me. I did not sign or return the 'agreement to advertise my registration mark' and it was made clear when the company 'phoned that I did not wish to sell. To my amazement on the same day we received this follow up 'phone call my number plate had already appeared in an advertisement by British Car Registrations in The Daily Mail! It also appeared next day in The Sunday Times. When I challenged the company I was accused of seeking a 'free valuation' - the very thing offered in their advertisement!!! "Always read the small print a couple of times" I bought a registration mark from British Car Registrations for my son's birthday a couple of months ago. We completed the transaction on line and chose the option for "no plates required". They then contacted my son to say that we must buy the number plates was duly charged an additional £30. When I complained I was referred to their Terms & Conditions which said we had to buy them. I told them that I'd ticked the box saying that I didn't want them but they said I had no choice as it was in the Terms & Conditions. When he eventually posted his documents off the form said "Recorded Delivery Admin Fee £12" and the box was ticked. When I challenged them about that they said we didn't actually have to pay it (underneath in small letters it says "you may deduct this charge"). They even told me that they wouldn't supply the number plate until I had removed a previous negative review and written to them saying I was now happy with the situation. I had a horrible experience with British Car Registrations and won't be dealing with them again. read more
