British Airways Equals No Service I have not booked or flown British Airways since my honeymoon, before the computer age. We booked our flights through a travel agent who uploaded our itinerary to the British Airways ticket information. British Airways cancelled our flight without notifying us. so when we arrived at the airport we received the first notice of the cancelled flight. they made us wait in line at another flight as standby, which we did not make. then they were nasty to us at the check in desk. We had to pay our f=room and meals. The travel agent submitted a claim on our behalf and were were eventually reimbursed. That was years ago. turn to the present. We accumulated Avios points through Capital One Venture Card. We are traveling to Europe in April 2026. We transferred miles to British Airways. We booked a flight for two from Dublin to Heathrow and then from Heathrow to Charles De Gaulle. The flight from LHR to CDG was booked at the top fare in business class. there was not transparent warning that it was a non refundable fare. so they got this. Phone calls are met with impossible to reach customer service and indifference if not avoidance. Then we tried to transfer Avios points from British Airways to Aer Lingus. The accounts were not enrolled at the same email address so the account could not be linked. Attempts to find a live agent to assist us were useless. Spent 3 hours on the phone with personnel who could not help or transfer us to someone who could help. the result was thw=e account was locked. the process to unlock an account cant ake up to 28 days. Really in a world of technology and computers?? finally reached someone who could actually discuss the issue by have one agent on one cell phone and then calling another number on a different cell phone, both on speaker, to reach a person in Avios British W=airways. the upshot was that they could escalate the issue for a resolution within 7 days. Honestly, the stupidity, arrogance and lack of problem resolution within a reasonable time frame is abhorrent. I have booked a flight with United, American Airlines, Aer Lingus and Transavia with the total time not even close to the unresolved issue with British Airways. I have changed Business Class flights three times with both United and American without change fees or any other costs. I have cancelled business Class flight with Aer Lingus and reboked without any fees. I have booked and rebooked hotel stays with the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin, the Marriott Courtyard in Oxford UK the Paris Marriott Champs Elysees and the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat Four Seasons without any fees or issue. Points were credited to these accounts in minutes. British Airways is out of sync with other travel partners. Not worth the headache. I would avoid them with all costs. I was excited to visit the EWR lounge having never visited it before and having a short gap with time to spare between my domestic and international flights. The immaculately attired check-in agent was very helpful and gave every customer eligible for the lounge directions on how to enter the lounge. On arriving the lounge receptionist was cheerful and enthusiastic. I had a walkaround the lounge and decided to get something from the buffet, the staff member by the First dining area pro-actively advised that if I scanned the QR code on the table Club World customers could order a burger. I selected the vegetarian "Impossible Burger" and customized it without cheese, I think approximately 20 minutes later a delicious looking burger arrived. It was the best tasting vegetarian burger I'd had in a long time, possibly ever. The British style chips, not fries as they were too thick to be french fries were half edible. Half the portion had been cooked and half were undercooked, plus they were over seasoned, ie they were too salty. I asked for some black pepper, a sachet of black pepper was brought to the table. When I got up to leave the dining area the same young man hosting the First dining area must have noticed I left the chips, he asked me what I thought and without me mentioning it said "were they too salty". I agreed they were too salty and discreetly mentioned some were undercooked. He apologized and I sensed several other customers had mentioned the over seasoning of the chips from his reaction. Immediately he offered to bring me a replacement portion and that he would mention it to the chef. I was full from the burger so declined his kind offer. After connecting to the wifi so I could do some work I took some photos of the shiny B777 aircraft we would be flying on, another customer traveling with her husband offered to take my photo with the aircraft in the background as she observed my boyish enthusiasm. I played it cool though and politely declined. Next I visited the toilet/restroom, it was funny because I was stood at the urinal and could hear a customer in one of the two male cubicles moaning that the toilet paper was too thin, this piqued my interest so I went into the other cubicle to investigate and could see his point. As I left the lounge and thanked the young man by the First dining he advised me that soon the lounge will be closing for a complete refurbishment, next time I fly through EWR in however many years time I shall look forward to visiting the new look lounge. The new lounge is a great opportunity to make a few minor adjustments to make it a five star experience, what would I change, thicker quilted toilet paper, a pepper mill instead of sachets as freshly ground pepper has a taste and aroma of its own (though later I noticed a pepper mill on the buffet counter), perhaps to not add any salt to the chips and add a note to the menu that these are unseasoned so customers can salt to taste, I completed a basic cooking course and one of the chefs catchphrases was "you can add but you can't take away" when teaching us about seasoning and spices. Good thing about dining on the lounge was I didn't eat on the plane and could go straight to sleep, well try to with so many movies to enjoy! read more

Underwhelming experience! For an airport lounge for first class guests, the food options were dismal in the morning with yogurt and Cheerios as the only options. When they reset for lunch, there were only two cold meat options at lunch with sliced cheese and lettuce. And pre wrapped apples and oranges. I would not recommend this lounge at Newark. The staff were unfriendly and seemed to feel put out when you asked something doing the bare minimum. Very disappointing compared to other airline lounges offerings and service. read more

They are suppose to accept priority pass - however they did not accept 2 guests which is the standard AND no option to pay or any other recourse. The services in this area are terrible with one very slow restaurant that we had to deal with instead of getting to utilize the lounge read more

It says it opened at 3pm. TVs are on and an employee (appeared to be a janitor) came to the doors after 5 minutes. She rudely said it was closed and walked away. All of the movable signs are in the terminal hallway advertising it's open. The big sign on the door says it was to open 2 hours ago (lists 3pm opening time). The One World lounge website says it's open (again, listing a 3pm opening time). Incredibly poor. Anyone who has been to EWR knows how frustrating the airport is as you have to exit and re-enter TSA security even within the same terminal, as there are checkpoints approximately every 10 gates. This means any One Word lounge member trying to access the lounge has to deal with TSA twice, so we rely on the website to ensure we don't waste our time. In this case, it was 30 min of wasted time. Very poor. British Airways needs to get its act together at EWR. read more

Terrible experience. food consisted of bread and cheese. no shower facilities available, staff said they had nobody to service the showers! drinks hidden in fridges diet dishes everywhere and the worst is that they close at 2pm every day? how ridiculous is that. never again. read more

I actually really enjoyed this lounge, and surprisingly found it better than the ANA lounges littering Narita Airport in Tokyo. I visited under the assumption that a Japanese airport lounge would obviously outperform one on the East Coast in the States, but I was proven wrong. They have a small (but nice) nice selection of sandwiches, soups, and chips, and the oatmeal raisin cookies here are actually pretty good. Cappuccinos taste better than most at other airport lounges, and its large, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Staff is also very polite. read more

The service here is stellar, as to be expected, but the furnishings and overall feel of the lounge is a bit dated. It's also a bit on the small side, so it's hard to find a private corner if there are even a few people around. read more

They offer a range of freshly made sandwiches on different breads; hot soup and a small salad dish as well as a selection of cheese and crackers. Also there is a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, all complimentary. If you ask, they will serve you champagne but if is not out for self-serve. The lounge is large & has a range of comfy & table seating. If you are travelling BA premium economy or biz class you can take advantage of the Elemis Day spa 15min fee treatment. Flew first class for our honeymoon, and had access to the lounge. Only sampled the bar and the snacks, not the sit down dinner. Snacks were good, with sandwiches, and some cheese, as well as fruit, candies, and chips. Full bar had a nice selection of wine, beer and spirits, and was self serve. They had Glenlivet 18 available, so that is a winner all and of itself. After many years of spending preflight time the the Newark lounge thing have really hit rockbottom. The lounge is really neglected and needs a complete redo. The seats and sofa s are literally collapsing and peeling. There are not enough seats and even fewer with outlets. Just over the past two years the food and liquor offerings have been downgraded. The only scotch now is Red Label or Jameson. All the individual snack packages are gone making it impossible to read labels or to choose snacks which might have been picked over by hands. The British Airways Galleries Lounge is the perfect accompaniment to the end (or start) of a holiday or business trip. This lounge even manages to strive beyond that of the flagship lounge at Heathrow in some respects. Initially we encountered disappointment, as the lounge was only due to open 3 hours before BAW185, the first departure of the day, was due to leave Newark. This meant that we had to sit in the less-then-comfortable check-in area. This is one key aspect in which the lounge falls behind the Heathrow lounge - which is open practically 24/7. Despite this, the lounge certainly met our expectations when we found a good deal of seats by the window as well as many in the entertainment area - where a TV, numerous computers, magazines and newspapers could be found. Since BAW185 was a sleeper service, we were served dinner on the ground in this lounge rather than on our flight. Though the meal at once looked unappetizing, consisting of several broths being composed in large pots, it was a hearty and fulfilling meal to end the day on. This was with the addition of bread rolls, packets of crisps, salad and other savoury items. It was not too long before dessert was offered, in the from of cheesecake. I did not try the dessert myself but noted that many of those in the lounge returned for second offers, so it must have been good! I'd like to add that though the Club World cabin was 100% on the flight, the lounge did not at any one time seem too busy or overcrowded. There were plenty of seats and computers still available. This is where the lounge speeds ahead of its Heathrow counterpart - which is almost always busy. The aircraft that would be flying us to Heathrow could be seen from the window, and so the flight was called for boarding approximately 2-3 hours after we had entered the lounge. The staff wished us a safe flight and we proceeded to the nearby boarding area. All in all, this lounge was much better than the departures area, which didn't seem to offer much in the way of retail or seating, and we'd be more than happy to return in the future. read more
