I am very disappointed with the installation. I have nothing against the young men, but their finish was amateurish:
1) The surveyor took a specimen of pebble dashed wall for reference and yet I was given a concrete finish, no effort had been made to blend in with the original pebble dashed surface. When I compared my newly finished windows with my neighbours, I knew I had wasted my money. Even the completed toilet window had a nasty concrete frame round it. Not finished professionally!
2) In my living room, there is now big yawning gap between the new bay window and wall.
3) There is a gap of more than half a cm's gap all around my big bay window (at least 8 feet long includng both side panels), totally unsealed and for which I am supposed to pay nearly £1600 for. No wonder I can still hear the traffic roaming
4) The the edges were cut badly and there is a dent in one of the inside strips.
5) For some reason, my fanlight window which I ordered for my son's bedroom is gone. It is clearly drawn on the contract sheet.
6) One of the windows has been broken and my son is now sleeping next to a semi-installed window and he said he was freezing! I could have delayed the installation if they had been honest with me! Indeed, I have already delayed it and I requested no apprentices ..
7) There were only two men installing the windows and some of the panes are very big and I felt for them when they were lugging the heavy window panes. I have nothing against them (I think it is a good idea to train new blood), but they do need to do a professional job.
8) One of the existing cladding panels fell off, and the newly replaced one is now overhanging on the new bay window. It is decidedly an eyesore!
I complained on Monday, the woman said she would definitely get back to me the same day, even though it might be a bit late. Now it is 12pm Wednesday, I did not hear a beep!
