Normally, contractors would push back, but I was pleasantly surprised that their response was "no problem." Everyone arrived as scheduled and the project was completed on time. We accepted and never got to talk to that person again. Dinorah had never been to our house but she's the only person we could communicate with. There wasn't an on-site project manager at any point. 1 or 2 people showed up for this or that and when I had questions, told me to call the office. Our project has been complete for close to a year, and we have been having issues with the pebble tech and we can't get them to call us back or come back out to look. At the end of our project, no one called or came out to see the finished project. They now claim that we still owe them $250...again, project has been done for close to a year and until we reached out to them with an issue they never asked us for more money. Dinorah says they'll do nothing about the issue and the warranty doesn't kick in until we pay. We don't actually owe them that money, but that's besides the point right now. We need to hear from the owner. Feel free to call my husband even though I've been the point person on this project the entire time

After being a client of Scott Cohen's company, Poolmaster, for more than 13 years, I am utterly…read moredisappointed that I had to terminate my tech, Emerson Garcia, two weeks ago, along with the company. On August 18, 2026, I texted Emerson because I hadn't seen him servicing the pool in weeks. He said everything was fine but admitted he was only coming once a week, claiming I wasn't paying him enough. When I told him I was paying the bill Sophy Duarte at Poolmaster emailed monthly, which stated twice-weekly service, he said I could talk to the office or find someone else. I reviewed my security footage and confirmed I was being billed for twice-weekly service but only receiving once-weekly visits. Since I had been traveling for work for months, I don't know how long this had been going on. On August 19, I called Sophy at 8:47 AM and asked to urgently speak with Scott Cohen. She said he'd just left for a four-month vacation, left instructions not to be bothered, and there was no way to reach him. When I asked for a manager, she said Scott left her in charge. I explained the texts with Emerson, the video evidence, and that Poolmaster had been billing me for services not provided -- meaning both Emerson and Poolmaster were effectively stealing from me. Sophy said Poolmaster sold my contract to Emerson years ago and that this was his responsibility, not theirs. I reminded her that despite Emerson being called a "gig worker" (their term), it was Poolmaster that billed and collected payment from me every month, NOT Emerson. I stressed the urgency: Emerson was lying to me and stealing by having Poolmaster bill me for service I didn't receive and lying to Poolmaster too -- making Poolmaster complicit. Sophy said she'd look into it and call back. On August 20 at 9:33 AM, Sophy called to say she'd spoken with Scott. He asked how many months I thought Emerson had been doing this; I said I didn't know since my camera footage only went back 60 days. Scott instructed her to reimburse me four months of once-weekly service, deducted from Emerson's pay. I asked her to mail me a check. At my request, Sophy agreed not to tell Emerson until after that day's service. Sophy asked if I wanted Emerson to continue or if I wanted a new tech. I said we'd address that after she spoke to him about reimbursement. When I asked why my rate hadn't increased like it had in the past, she said Scott hadn't raised it because we were long-time clients. She mentioned what Emerson charges new customers for twice-weekly service, and frankly his rate was very high compared to other companies I later consulted -- especially given he was never on-site more than 25 minutes. The fact that neither Emerson nor Poolmaster requested a rate increase isn't my responsibility. Later that day, after Emerson serviced the pool, I told Sophy I wanted him back the following week on both scheduled days, since that's what I had paid for in advance. On August 21, I called Sophy to check on her conversation with Emerson. She said she told him what I'd reported and that the owed money would be deducted from his next paycheck; he said "ok" and didn't argue since the order came from Scott. She hadn't asked him why he'd done it. I received the reimbursement check on August 24. On August 26, I asked Sophy to have Emerson do the final monthly service the next day and ring the doorbell afterward to return my pedestrian gate key, which he'd lost a few times before. On August 27, per camera footage, Emerson parked in front of my driveway from 2:40-2:52 PM, then stood by his truck talking on his phone. He never returned the key. I called Sophy at 4:06 PM; she said she'd call him and get back to me. I never heard back, and no one answered the office phone at 4:50 PM. When I got home, I found Emerson left the pool equipment in service mode for no reason -- apparently the only thing he'd done in his ten minutes there. It took five more days and several emails to Sophy before I got my key back. I later learned Scott Cohen had moved to Colorado earlier this year. I had referred Poolmaster and Emerson to neighbors over the years, just as they were referred to me by my realtor. I hope those neighbors haven't been billed for services they didn't receive. I've since hired a new pool company, which found: a fully rusted gas pipe, a cracked conduit exposing wires, a fully cracked blower top (which Emerson claimed didn't need replacing), dangerously high filter pressure risking a pump explosion, and two cracked tubing pieces affecting the pool vacuum. The new company cleaned my filter last week due to high pressure. My Poolmaster receipt shows I was already charged for a filter cleaning on May 1, 2026. The following photos show how dirty the filters were just four months later. When I asked my new tech if they should be that dirty after four months, he said, "No." I'm sure I got charged by Emerson for a filter cleaning that never took place.
