Went back for a dinner a year after the big "under new management" change. Interesting findings…read more -- Egg Rolls: A little small, a little dry, but nicely crisp, old school celery filling, and VERY intense BBQ pork flavor inside. Almost like a pork bun. A little above average thanks to the flavor. -- Chinatown Ribs: Not available when they first did the new management thing, but their signature babybacks are back, at least as a special. A different cut from the spares, these are a little pricey at $28, and odd cutting-- some wide, some narrow-- but very thick (2" in spots) and very juicy. Just enough glaze, and thankfully not all over the cross sections, because these fresh-cooked ribs have nothing to hide and need no crutch (I'm looking at you, Jasmine Garden). Very pleasant flavor. Near-elite. -- Yu Hsiang Beef (on a combo): Yes, they do dinner combos. The beef was very tender, with pleasant spicy flavor and sweetness to balance it out. It seems the sweetness is a new twist; I preferred the version I had twice a year ago that was much more spicy and savory, but this was good. Nice assortment of peppers and wood ear mushrooms. Above average. -- Spareribs (on a combo): Had to try these too. These changed a little from a year ago (previously near-elite once and elite once)-- not as thick and no scoring of the surface. Delicious glaze, but dry and probably a reheat. Will definitely get these again, but as a full order, not as extras plopped onto a combo. A little below average, but still some good signs. -- Pork Fried Rice (on a combo): Dry. Muted flavor. Below average. -- General Gau's Chicken: Very crispy and staying crispy throughout the meal, these flattened, bumpy mini cutlets had quality chicken, good tenderness, and a complex sauce mixing heat into the sweet the way the General is supposed to but which most don't. Caramelly delicious. Near-elite to elite. Some bumps in the road still, but still plenty to like.

We came in 8:20pm thinking they closed by 10pm based on google. It turned out they close at 9pm but…read morethey are so nice they still let us order and dine in. We got to chat with the owner Ping very nice gentleman originally from Hong Kong. He came to check on us to make sure everything is good that we like the food. Because it's late there's only one chef in the kitchen, the food still come out fast and excellent quality. Very good service, our server is very busy cleaning up the restaurant while still refill our water and tea and comes over to clean our table. Very polite people here. This is the best Cantonese dinner restaurants in East Coast, forget about going to flushing ny or Brooklyn if you want authentic good Cantonese food, get the real one here. Reminds me of Hong Kong Chow fun is fresh homemade, i've never had better one!! We ordered beef chow fun. Beef with bitter melon so flavorful tender beef. Steam fish fillets so yummy why something so simple so good!! 京都骨 pork chop very light batter sauce not over sweet like those in flushing/Brooklyn, no red coloring added. To die for!! I can't wait to try dim sum here.

I could literally eat my body weight in these! Pro tip: dip them in the spicy Chinese mustard & then into the duck sauce - sweet, heat, crunch... perfection! Just be warned, it is very easy to fill up on these before your meal even arrives! From the dim sum menu, we ordered the deep fried taro dumplings, steamed shrimp dumplings & our favorite, stir-fried Chinese broccoli with garlic. I wish we had more people so we could order more dim sum items to share! From the regular menu, hubby ordered the lunch combo #14: jumbo shrimp with vegetables, golden fingers, fried rice & egg roll. He loved it & said he would definitely order it again. Golden Palace is an easy add-on if you are at Mohegan Sun! Bonus: dim sum is available daily, which is always a win in my book. Anyone who knows me will tell you, I believe the best Chinese food is in Boston. So much so that…read moreEVERYTIME I come home, I must have Chinese. Growing up in Boston, I have my favorite spots to go to. However, one of my favorite spots closed down recently which led my Bestfriend to find us a new option for Chinese. In walks Chinatown Restaurant in Weymouth. Doing a search in the area, we discovered Chinatown Restaurant in Weymouth. The reviews were raving about how good the food was, so I had to go. Driving up, it's your typical carry-out. Nothing special, but it's easy to find and there is ample parking. After taking a look at the menu, I decided on the Pu Pu Platter for 1 with a Sm Lobster Sauce. I placed my preset at the window, paid, and took a seat. The location was very clean. The ambiance is very take-out suggestive and the lighting is slightly dim, but not in a romantic way... After a few minutes, my food was ready and my order was called. From the moment I took ownership of the bag I was excited. The smells that were coming out of the bag were amazing. I could literally smell my entire order and it had my mouth watering. As the Pu Pu Platter provides a variety, I will admit that EVERYTHING that comes in the platter was AMAZING (I don't eat shrimp so I can't speak on the shrimp). Beef Teriyaki - Meaty. Moist. Well flavored. Perfectly done. Perfect size. Chicken Wings - Flavorful and Perfectly Done. Nice size. Boneless Ribs - These steal the show as they are beyond amazing. Sweet and Salty, meaty with not a lot of fat. Perfect amount of sauce. These were the highlight of my plate. Chicken Fingers - Thick. Battered well. Great with the Sweet & Sour Sauce. Not hard. Egg Roll - HUGEEEEEEEEEEEE. Fresh. Flavorful and Crispy. The Lobster Sauce was good as well. It was standard for a carry out but the flavor profile was that of a quality restaurant. It was as meaty as it was saucy. All I know is that I am sold on Chinatown Restaurant in Weymouth and will be returning every time I come back home. LoL.

I think when you start a review with "the person who took my order was very, very nice". You know…read moreit's not going to be a really positive review. So we ordered food from Chinatown Restaurant and like I said the person who took our order was very, very nice. We got General Gau's "chicken" with an Egg Roll and Chicken Fingers. I'll start with the Chicken Fingers which were as good as I have ever had. They were awesome. That's the good now for not so good part of the review.... The egg roll had this sugary taste to it. I've eaten hundreds if not thousands of egg rolls in my lifetime and never before have I tasted an egg roll that had this sugary taste to it. Not sweet but like someone doused it with sugar before cooking it. Not a good taste sensation either. The General Gau's Chicken had dark meat which I am not a fan of. It also looked and tasted more like pork than chicken and had this funky taste to it that did not enhance it good. Thankfully it was not very spicy. The pork fried rice had lots of pork but the rice tasted very bland. It only had one slice of Mushroom and one slice of onion. No egg bits. No bean sprouts no anything that usually makes the rice taste better. It looked like it was the bottom of the barrel; which considering it was an hour before they closed it probably was. I struggled to eat about 1/8 of my meal then threw it away. We also got Lo Mein and that was also bland as heck. I gave them three stars based on how good the Chicken Fingers were and how nice the people who work there are. Summary: I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it was an hour before they closed and try them again. I struggled to give them three stars because like I said earlier the chicken fingers were good and the people who work there were very, very nice. I would say avoid them an hour or two before closing.
