Replace the harbor master Robert Gardali. A very Rude person . I have sent my application and all…read moredocuments in line . I was told by one of the employees to come to the Marina to finish my application and bring my boat and dock my boat ,it was Memorial Day Monday . Before I got to the marina I called and talked to some one and got their permission and gave me the permission to dock at 1161 or 1162 slips .so I did then I went to the office he told me to call Tuesday morning . I did call Tuesday morning and I was told that some one will call me back . I received a call back from the harbor master Robert Gardali . Who had zero manner and doesn't know how to talk in a nice civil way . He told me I am not authorized to have my boat there and no one gave me a permission to dock my boat at the marina . He was yelling over the phone giving warning to move my boat and I have 24 hours to Move it or it will be moved and disposed . He would not listen to what ever I say . Wednesday I went to the marina to move my boat , the lady at office was super nice with a nice friendly amazing smile . She gave me access to the gate . I was prepping my boat to leave , then Robert Gardali showrd up , he was calm at that time . I asked him the reason for what happening ! he told me the same thing over the phone I told him i was given a permission to bring my boat to the marina . He called me a liar and said what ever he said over the phone . I let him talk without any interruption and when I was about to start taking he started walking away . I told him I listened to you and it's his turn to listen to me . But he stared walking away me raising my voice I told him That is very disrespectful and he needs to be on the same page with his employees . The last thing he said that he has the power to move me out of the marina and walked away . I started my boat , filled up gas and left the marina on a windy rough day in the water . He has no right in his position to talk to any one like that or disrespect people . Very disappointing a clerk of San Mateo county to behave like that .

5 stars for being able to water ski in San Mateo!…read more Yes, the areas you can ski in are limited and quite small, but it is a treat to be able to have a local spot to boat in. I have a friend who lives right on the lagoon, right in front of the ski area. Ideal for a great BBQ and ski day! A beautiful spot!…read more The Berkeley Marina quickly became one of my favorite weekend spots while going to school in the city. There is something here for quite literally everyone of all ages and physical capabilities. I visited on a warm Saturday afternoon and was pleased to see there were people literally everywhere. On the land, there were dozens of children playing on the playgrounds. My friends and I were walking by the Adventure Playground (a wooden, quite industrial-looking play area), where we heard what sounded like the hammering of wood. I jokingly asked, "what is that noise? Are the kids in there building the playground themselves?" To my surprise, they literally were. This playground offers the unique opportunity for children to build and design the play area themselves. There are forts, towers, and even a zipline. This is a great way for kids to build community and work with their hands. Right next to this is a more "traditional" playground with slides, swing sets, and all the works. There are also many walking/running trails around the whole marina. Along these paths there are benches and tables where you can have a picnic and enjoy the beautiful view of the bay. You'll see people being active throughout the whole area. The main paths are paved so they are accessible to those with mobility issues. There are public restrooms available that are relatively clean. The water activities are endless here. There are kayak rentals, sail boats, and just plain swimmers. There are multiple docks to launch small crafts and to take a dip. In the shallower beachy areas, there were children swimming. If you look off to the distance, you'll see the strong open water swimmers practicing in their wetsuits. You may even see people learning how to use a hydrofoil board. People are often flying their kites off the bay's breeze too. I believe this is truly a spot for everyone who enjoys the outdoors. But, must I warn you...beware of the squirrels because they WILL run up to you and they sure aren't shy.

Located near the Redwood City port, this public fishing pear is open year around…read more It is located off of Seaport Drive, and is adjacent to several marinas and businesses. I'm not a huge fisherman but according to a local I spoke to you can find Jack smelt, Surf perch, Leopard Shark, Bat Ray, Anchovy and Striped bass in general. Beyond this there is not alot else to do at this location. There is a very short walk along the water front, and you can sometimes catch medium sized ships being loaded at the adjacent port. That being said it tends to be a nice quiet spot and you can watch rowing crews and people learning to sail from the nearby school. There is little or no services in the immediate area and unless you are dying to fish, you may want to pass.

Ask around in the boating community about the harbormaster here, and you will get a VERY wide range…read moreof responses...a hint that we may, in my opinion, be dealing with a bi-polar or sociopathic personality. On one hand, you will get raised eyebrows, shaking heads and warnings like: "she can be sweet and nice, always with a slightly bitter saccharin aftertaste, but pity the fool that gets on her bad side. Others will say she is wonderful, with no complaints. IOWs, in my opinion, she seems to have two faces, one for slip owners, and another for the renters who she tends to view as second hand citizens. Rather than viewing customer SERVICE as the staff's paramount responsibility, customer POLICING is the focus, and the very long list of stringent rules are SELECTIVELY enforced, seemingly with the focus being renters Diane does not like. For example: Look at the aerial view of the marina on Google Maps. I count 36 boats that extend 1-3 feet beyond the ends of the slip fingers, which is not allowed in the rules. But, if you're on her s-list, Diane will come out and measure your boat, reprimand you for the violation, and demand corrective actions, including moving to a longer, more expensive slip. The same violations all around the marina are ignored. Diane also finds it impossible to admit when she is wrong. She simply will not say it, and it has been my experience that she will bend and stretch the truth mercilessly in order avoid having to admit she's not right about something. AND, even worse, if you do dare to disagree with her on even the most minor topic, and prove her wrong, you will never escape being on her bad side, and will be subjected to condescending passive aggressive communication as long as you are there under her very large thumb. For example, if you disagree with her or complain about something, she will tell you that if you don't like it there, you can leave, as if every boat owner doesn't already know that. I have at least 10 emails from her ending with that passive aggressive, threatening comment. Hardly a message the owners of the many vacant, unrented slips, or owners trying to sell their slips, would want current renters in good standing, potential renters or buyers to hear. And, if she doesn't like you, and you disagree with her more times than she can tolerate, she will EVICT you without cause, no reason given, a pure act of spite by a person who seems "mad with power". Not everyone can handle a position of power with consistent grace and kindness.

Michael Turner at Edgewater Marina goes above and beyond, even on a Sunday…read moreEight years ago, we bought our Duffy 22 from Michael -- and that purchase turned out to be the beginning of a relationship with someone who genuinely cares about his customers long after the sale. After leaving our boat untouched for six months, I ran into battery issues the day we needed it for a gathering with friends. I hit a wall troubleshooting online and took a chance calling Michael on a Sunday. Not only did he invite me to come by, but he already had the cables I needed waiting when I arrived. Rather than simply ringing up the sale, he walked me through the fix, explained the risks, and made sure I knew what to watch out for. When I discovered the damage was worse than expected -- acid corrosion on additional cables -- Michael had already left for the day, but still called into the shop so his colleagues could get me what I needed. He also answered my text messages asking him more questions. Thanks to him, we had a wonderful cruise with our friends that afternoon. It's genuinely reassuring to know that a knowledgeable, generous Duffy dealer is nearby -- not just when you're buying, but whenever you need real help.
