Franco Marine is the best boat Mechanic in the bay area! He saved my boat, when no one else could or would! After I was left with a botched unfinished job by the mechanic from the boatyard I was having some major work done in, Franco Marine came in, took the mess that was left, and made everything work just as it should. No one wanted this mess, but Franco Marine didn't even hesitate. He was also booked out more than a month, and told me he'd figure out a way to squeeze me in. Less than a week later on a Sunday, he came out and met me at the boat, did what he could for about 4 hours, got a list of parts and part numbers to complete the job, and came back a week later with the parts he ordered, and got my boat back in action. I'm very happy with how knowledgeable, and prepared with the right specialty tools, to get the job done, and how determined he was to get everything done right! When I say that the wiring on my boat was a mess, that's a major understatement. Previous Mechanic said I needed a new wiring harness, after calling me every week to tell me they needed to replace another 5 wires, and it was going to be another $1,000.... yah that crap.... then ordered the wrong wiring harness, halfway installed it, couldn't figure out how to finish the install, most of what was done, was done wrong, and the other half was just a mess of wires not connected to anything. Being that it was the wrong harness, there was about 10 extra wires with no place to go, and other necessary wires, missing from the harness altogether. He patiently studied the situation, did some research, traced every wire from beginning to end, figured everything out, and things that hadn't worked since I bought the boat, are now working as designed, and my engine is running great! I can't thank him enough for his help! If I could give him 10 stars I would, he certainly deserves it! read more

I called Tony about a problem with my sailboat engine exhaust after having grounded in the South Bay mud. I own a classic wooden hull Heirchoff Ketch. He responded to my call quickly and was able to start work within a few days which was very helpful. Tony got the debris cleared from the intake and then found some rust in a connecting pipe near the exhaust manifold. This problem was part of the problem which he fixed. Tony also found a defective bilge pump line and repaired it. I am very pleased with his diagnosis of problems with my engine and cooling, exhaust systems. He was there when he said he would be, made proper repairs that were needed, and charged me a fair price. I would highly recommend him for engine work on your sail or motorboat. I'm posting a review as most recently Tony replaced a dead Inverter requiring very difficult placement of the new Inverter and rebuilding of the master panel to fit the control face for the new Inverter. The installation went smoothly and the new panel Tony put together looks like it came with the boat. The price for the job was quite fair. Tony is an excellent boat mechanic. I asked him once if he is the original rubber man. He gets in and around in the boat engine rooms like I can't believe. And they are really tight some of them. I had him service my Bayliner, with two Hino diesel engines and a Westerbek diesel generator and he took care of it perfectly, clean, no mess, no leaks.
